Good day to everyone, I downloaded this game and it is VERY awesome, but I have a bug to report, see spoiler below:
Spoiler:
When at the Clooney Asylum with Rhea, and talking to the perverted director, I received the Psycho profile of Earlenmeyer, it also said that I received Charles, but turns out, it never showed up in my court records, it turns out there was an additional character letter added in scene79clooney.talk file for the Charles file:
Simply removing the $ sign from the Charles names will fix the problem, restarting from a save point will get you the Charles into the court record.

But there's a problem, I cannot present the Charles to Erleanmeyer, nothing happens, what do I do?

I've tried playing with that certain file, it's as though it's not even existing :p

Adding to the spoiler, I'm not sure which version I have of the game, it seems I have to browse this forum to find a new game or newer version of an already downloaded game, no? No matter, credit for all the people who makes these cases, they're enjoyable :godot:

Spoiler: answer
In order for it to work, you cannot load a game, you must start a new game. Also, Charles is supposed to be in profiles.

I’m just wondering if anyone knew how I could load a save file without having to watch the whole intro? I can’t seem to skip it or load the file right away, I always have to wait until it reaches Apollo’s room. I’m sorry if this is stated somewhere else, but I can’t find it.

I also have the latest version on PyWright and I’m using a Mac.

Found the awnser by looking at the script. Finnished the game.

Scary!

This is deffinately not a feel-good-game, because... I'm not feeling good.

It did have it's moments, but I like Turnabout Scapegoat better.

Charles is supposed to be a profile (under the profiles/characters tab), add it back in and it should work.

Ok. I'm stuck once more at Rhea's second testimony.

Spoiler:
In her second, detailed testimony (The Fatal Moment), when you press statements, two options come out to the question "Is there a problem with that statement?" If you press no, it brings you back to the testimony. If yes, it gives you penalty. SO WHAT DO YOU DO?! I tried presenting and looking at the script. WHAT DO I DO!?

You don't need to present anything. One of the statements, if you say "there is something strange", doesn't give you a penalty.

Incidentally, "Rhea's second testimony" could be considered a spoiler, you might want to put it inside spoiler tags XD

I finished the game: A-W-E-S-O-M-E but my favorite part was when the judge asked: "Who is the killer?", because i knew exactly what to present, as soon as Rhea mentioned the flavors of gum "Strawberry and Lemon" i figured it out! Still, i feel bad for :udgy:, he didn't deserve to die...

I apologize for the inconvenience, but I'm stuck.

Spoiler:
I have just talked to Ema about the scene of Chamber's murder. I've discovered the steering wheel and have reported to her already. It's seeming to hint towards finding a contradiction within the evidence, and I think I have found one, but when I present it to her there's no reaction. There is no one else to talk to at any other location, and nothing else I can pick up from the crime scene.

If you can help, thank you very much :)

You wouldn't happen to have pieces gum in your court record, would you? If you do, present them ; if you don't, you need to search the crime scene again. You'll find them in the snow next to the car, on the right side of the screen.

To Ping', BadPlayer, and all those who made the case,

Hey guys. That was a great fancase. The best one yet. It was completely fulfilling. OF COURSE, there were some hard parts that I had to ask you, or even look at the script to figure them out.

Spoiler:
The ending where you had to chose between drugs, bracelet, and computer file was. All of them had parallel script. But only one had the right path to the best ending :)). Plus the timer thing kept me on my toes. The part where Rhea digs herself a whole in the courtroom was scary. But the ending credits was scarier. I feel sorry for :udgy: . WHY DID HE HAVE TO GOOOOOO.

Spoiler:
You could have made Justice Strings appear somewhere later in the trial after talking to him in the detention center.

My hands are shivering now just remembering the ending. But wow, nice trial. It goes with the other PW and AJ cases.

1. Bridge to the Turnabout
2. Farewell, My Turnabout
3. TURNABOUT SUBSTITUTION
4. Turnabout Goodbyes
5. Turnabout Succession

As for fancases:
1. TURNABOUT SUBSTITUTION (by Ping' and team.)
2. Checkmate and Turnabout (SilentBobX)
3. Silence of the Turnabout (BadPlayer)
4. The Perfect Turnabout
5. The Bitter Turnabout

Thank you for making this case.

Sincerely,

DaSupernerd25.

PS. Hey, you should make a deal with Capcom. They pay you money, get part ownership of this game, but still you own it too. They release it as part of AJ:AA as its fifth case, and you get part of the profit they make for the game.

Ok nevermind what I said. It was just a suggestion.

PS: AND LOL. I had 507 saves.

dasupernerd25 > Don't forget Ceres and his wonderful graphics!

And wow, I really don't know what to say. I mean, the fact that you would put this game ahead of 1-4, which was my first experience of just how good PW really was, is such a huge compliment it's almost too much to bear...
Thank you for your terrific support and your suggestions! It motivates me to do more and better the next time.

About this "deal" idea... first of all, let me say I'm flattered that the thought even occurred to you. Sure, the possibility of say, a Wii download of the game for almost nothing sounds intriguing. But it presents a certain number of difficulties.
First, I should not be the one to contact Capcom. It would only make us more exposed, and I'm not willing to take the risk of a cease & desist order on the off chance of a deal that is, to my knowledge, unprecedented for the company (this can't be compared with the musical's situation), and thus extremely unlikely.
Secondly, there are obvious IP issues. We don't only use property from Capcom, but also from other games that weren't produced by the company (the backgrounds, for instance, are edits of various visual novels, but not so much as to make the originals unrecognizeable). If Capcom makes money using them, even if they give credit, I don't think we can call it fair use. I'm not a business expert (yet xD) but I imagine they'd have to either get the rights or redo the graphics themselves (as well as some of the dialogue, gameplay, etc. this time for quality reasons), and neither of those options are free. Then there's the problem of how to advertise the game (there's definitely a feel good, community pleasing story here, but whatever the approach, it's not cheap).
All in all, it would probably cost them less than creating a game themselves, but to think they could actually make any kind of profit from it would require first a leap of faith on their part, then a good deal of pleaning, especially since I can't argue my case to them for the reasons previously mentioned - here I'm somewhat arguing the case against it, but if the odds were in our favour I would be just as capable of presenting the case for it in a convincing way with a bit of research.
So I'll just wait, I'm already content with expanding Substitution's fanbase as a fan made, free game.

Yeah, fangames are really tricky. There is a long history of high profile games being completely wiped out, from the Chrono Trigger 3d remake, to a kings quest fangame (which recently had their decision reversed!). Copyright law is very confusing, even for the companies who own the copyrights. It only gets more confusing if they were to try and purchase the idea. Since the game was made with their characters, but without their consent, it could be viewed as an OK to rip them off were they to acknowledge the work in such a way. For most companies, the best they can do with projects like these is turn a blind eye to them.

What it comes down to, is they would have to spend the same amount of money to produce an official version of the case as it would cost to make a brand new one - marketing and production are not diminished; and the game would have to be rewritten as well (unless I had a wii version of PyWright, which I won't). Art would likely be redone. And if they are going to go through this much trouble to make a game, they have a lot of talented people in house who might rather come up with the story - it just wouldn't make much sense.

I have a feeling Capcom knows about us - I mean it's pretty hard NOT to run into phoenix wrong for instance. Also, there was that magazine article a while back about Casemaker. But a lot of issues really stand in the way of official recognition ever happening :( Would still be pretty nice if it did though!

Yes. (I'm answering for Frenchy xD)

He did tell me a little bit about one idea, but since then he's said he's had more ideas and is having second thoughts about the one he told me... so who knows what he's gonna do next, but I think he is gonna do something xD

btw, have you played Turnabout Deception? It's the best case on AAO, imo xD

There's this weird glitch that happened...

Spoiler:
...at when I presented how Elrenmeyer punished himself in the biology classroom. The character sprites completely disappeared! The text goes on and so, but no sprites anywhere. The error-message (click to skip line) keeps popping up too, at about every statement.

Oh? It's the first I've heard of this.

Spoiler:
Sorry you're having this problem, and thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'll figure out what's wrong and fix it as soon as I can... though going by what you're describing, it's not game breaking, and should disappear at the next scene or even before that.

After a long while of playing forward (and having to click to skip line every two seconds), full of frustration I re-started PyWright. And the sprites came back like magic. :meekins: And didn't even have to start a new game.

But I still doubt that it's better to leave a glitch like that as it is, unless it's beyond repair.

Also, a question: would it be absolutely horrible if I Let's Played this fancase after I'm done with Apollo Justice? Personally I think this is a great case (even though a bit long) and I think it'd also be good publicity for the Case Maker. :keiko:

Anyway, sure you can make a Let's Play, I'm flattered! The thing is, I'd rather you made a Let's Play of a bug free version, so it'd be even better if you waited until at least the next release, but if it's now or never, might as well be now.

Oh, there's still time for that! I'm doing Ace Attorney Investigations first, and then Apollo Justice, so I think there's plenty of time for the next release to come out. Gotta at least try to keep up with the timeline. =D Thank you so much, you've also done a wonderful job with the game (just finished it, pure awesomeness!)!

Are there plans for a next fancase? (For any of the series, AA, AJ or AAI!)

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.

I have plans for a next game, but I'm still somewhat torn between a Phoenix Wright game - whose plot is already mostly planned - and a completely different, 100% original game I really believe in.

Hmm... Well, if that Phoenix Wright game is the one you told me about, then it's gonna take a lot of work, considering it's gonna be a full AA game instead of just a case (I hope you don't mind me spoiling that xD). Of course, if you do a 100% original game, it's gonna take even more work, considering it would be 100% original... Since I only know one (maybe) of your ideas, I can't really say which one I like better... Of course, even if I could, you're the one that should make the decision :P

tl;dr: Just think about it and do what you want. I'm sure whatever you make will be fantastic.

Oh. Don't worry, I never said it wouldn't get fixed :D

Anyway, sure you can make a Let's Play, I'm flattered! The thing is, I'd rather you made a Let's Play of a bug free version, so it'd be even better if you waited until at least the next release, but if it's now or never, might as well be now.

I'm looking forward to them already, I am now wondering though if the AA one will be just Phoenix or Apollo....hell even a Phoenix & Apollo if Case 5's anything to go by (im mean that in the best possible sence of awsomeness)

Spoiler: A couple more bug's
Btw just got through with the second play through (or first playthrough of the updated version) and i can honestly say with hand on heart....that gum is still a ***** to find (mostly my fawlt though since i forgot were it was the last time i played), oh that and i've noticed a fue more bugs (but it might just be the download got screwed up again) there were quite a fue of thouse wight error boxes in the final fight and at one point the witness stand fused with the deffence bench for a screen, OH and Chief Strings sprit was missing from the end credits, and in the bit were you link the virus to the the decisive evidence the pressent button glitched (and at one point vanished completly so i had to go back to a previous save) and also inbetween that present and the brakedown for some reason whenever i tryed to use the save button it closed PyWrite...but somehow fixed itself in the end after i presented the virus differntly :odoroki: .......... :yuusaku: i think i got them all....OH btw one thing i should mention and haven't yet is the ending before the credits, it was beautifly done...sortta saddens me that they didn't do the same thing in AJ: AA ^^; (even better in the update since for some reason in my first playthrough it was at a snails pace ^^; but i think thats because between then and now its cleard a tone of junk off my laptop)

BTW i don't suppose any of you could suggest any more awsome fan cases like this one (seriously i can't for the life of me think of the proper tearm...if there is one that is), and yes i know that some were sugested in the credits but they flashed by so quickly i couldn't keep up :sadshoe:

1. If you want to talk about Turnabout Deception, you should probably do it on the AAO board.
2. I haven't played it in a while, and really don't remember xD It's around there somewhere, though... (It might be on the shelf on the right side. IIRC there's something there, at least.)
3. Once you finish Turnabout Deception play Silence of the Turnabout >.<

I beat the game recently. My heartfelt thanks to the entire team that produced a game that sapped over 8 straight hours of my time (when I should have been cleaning my apartment no less)!

Of course, here are my obligatory comments, remarks, rants, etc.
Spoiler: don't open this unless you beat the game!
Yeah, there were bugs but I'm sure most people have beat me to the punch by pointing all or most of them out. All I'll say was that getting white screens that said "no label" or other complaints about something missing were not uncommon to say the least.

Onto the game itself:
I'm a huge AA fan, having played every game in the series in at least 2 different languages, so I'm always up for fan games. Especially if they're well done, and this game was by and large above and beyond that.

It was nice to see Apollo get his own case with nobody from his past to help him (most of the time). Interesting take that Phoenix reveals the details of his family to him that Christmas. I interpreted the end of AJ as he'd wait a long time (on the order of several years) to tell them, but nice way to get that fact out of the way.

I liked the new assistant, mirroring that of Rise From the Ashes. I guess this case wouldn't be epic without that kind of a twist. I remember when she uttered those fatal words about chewing gum flavors, and I'm like eh that's just a coincidence. Then the options come up and I'm like eh, what the heck...and then all that happened :apollo-shock:
Kind of bittersweet/sad way to end it all, but I guess you couldn't make a case so epic without a twist like that and some form of tragedy. I thought it was a shame since she was older than Apollo and I personally like older women >_> But I guess now Apollo can join Nick with having a crazy murderous ex.

No cameo for Klavier though? Not that this has any negative effect on the game but I kinda liked the guy back in AJ, but not absolutely necessary.

I read that people were absolutely scared shitless after seeing the last scene after the credits. I guess I wasn't that scared, but it definitely packed a powerful punch when it showed the last, LAST scene. Such a chilling image of Apollo's supposed ex-girlfriend, possibly awaiting her own execution and reevaluating her life's work and meaning.

Don't know if this was pointed out, but in the credits when everyone is saying their own blurb no Meekins? :meekins: :megaphone: Again, not a big deal.

Nice work with the cellphone, I really liked that add on.

I plan to replay the game later, now knowing who did what. I've played some of it, and some of the clues were astonishingly shocking, like Rhea's reaction to presenting irrelevant evidence...

I know you guys don't plan a sequel, but perhaps it'd be nice to see some of the surviving characters again if at all possible.

As an engineer and amateur programmer/game hacker I can definitely respect and appreciate the amount of time and effort it took to just make a single case. I've wanted to make my own case for a while but I've never found the time to undertake a project even remotely close to this (not even on AAO). Maybe I'll just write my cases as fan fic or something, since there's no way in hell I'd be able to work on artwork, backgrounds, coding, etc.

Yeah, my rants were kind of random but I hope they helped you guys out. Thanks again for an amazing case and I certainly hope more fan cases follow in your footsteps.
