Hey
I know there's alot of case makers about and wanted some opinions on which ones i should use. I don't actually distribute my cases as files as there's no real investigation, i just post the videos of them. they're not intended to be serious, just messaround things. I have been using mechabowser's case maker but to be honest I find it a bit long winded considering that i'm not really making cases as such. Is there an easier one to use for what i'd use it for? thanks! :will:

honestly, I think MechaBowser's casemaker is the best thing for what your using. Because with the other 2 out there, PWLib and PyWright, those require scripting and dont really have an editor. so I think MechaBowser's is the best for that.

If you intend to create a simple case with no investigation, then I suggest you try Ace Attorney Online (http://aceattorney.free.fr).
It's pretty limited, but it should work nonetheless.
If you're not satisfied with it, then PyWright is an excellent casemaker that is both efficient and user friendly (though a little scripting is required).
If you want a comparison of the various casemakers, you have all the information here: http://gyakutenwiki.net/index.php?title=Comparison_of_Casemakers.

In a nutshell:

PWLib: Advanced casemaker, for those who like scripting but want to do more then the classic Ace Attorney. No editor, pure scripting, limitless possibilities.
PyWright: Mid-range casemaker, for those who stand to scritpting, and want to stick to classic Ace Attorney. No editor (yet), simple scripting, limited to AA.
Ace Attorney Online: Web casemaker, limited to web usage, for those who want to make simple cases in classic Ace Attorney way. Web Editor, web availability, limited to AA.
Case Maker 2.x: Limited casemaker in some functionality, the older of the bunch, but comes with an editor, for those don't care about its limitations and want to stick to Ace Attorney games. Editor, limited to AA, limited functionality.

It depends on what you need to do, after all. In your case, I think that CM 2.1 would be the best (evne if I really dislike Mecha) due to its editor.

If you are just making videos of the cases, I think scripting would be faster than an editor actually. If you use the autoskip command at the end of all of your text lines, you wouldn't even have to press enter when recording, just let it go. I am releasing a new version today, but that deals mostly with making it more flexible and fixing some branching problems, but in your case you don't need flexibility and probably won't even use any branching. PyWright includes all of the art (there is a downloader so you only download what you need, or you can get them all at once), although there are still problems with some of the files. Also, it uses a single screen interface, which might be the best for movies.

I think you'd only need to learn 3 or 4 commands to do a simple movie with PyWright.

I don't know about everyone else, but ace online plays really clunky for me. That's my only issue with it.

I've never used casemaker, but as it's what you are using now, and you asked for opinions on something else, I won't recommend this one :)

Pwlib is pretty close to pywright both in terms of ease of use and functionality, although it can take a bit more effort to set things up. You will have to test them both I think to see which one appeals to you.

PyWright uses less work to get it done because it is a PW-specific engine, unlike PWLib that is a library over other engine.

For video making, i take out my word for CM stuff and recommend either PWLib or PyWright. Both have power to do videos in a not so hard way, like saluk said.
In the scripted casemaker area, for videos:
-For easyness, use PyWright.
-For advanced, use PWLib.
