Alright, since a few members here (such as myself) would love to sprite and can't for whatever reason. It'd be great if somone who can program and sprite made a nice program for making a character.
Here's how it may be overlayed:
Left Side: The character with his or her current parts.
Right Side: The lists of the parts which would go like this:
Top: Hats/Hair/etc
Mid Top: Eyes/Mouth/Glasses/Nose/Ears/etc
Middle: Clothing
Bottom: Extra features: Magatama/Visor/Shiny Teeth/Tears/Blush/etc
So how about it? Would anyone feel up to this task? It'd help people who can't sprite.

You mean...like a PW-style dollmaker? That would be good :edgy:

That's not... quite what I had in mind, but if someone wants to make that, knock yourself out!
What I mean, is a sort of sprite maker, which you can use to make your own sprites for your OCs and stuff.

It would be a good idea to have. The problem would be to separate the parts (I think).

I don't know. I'd think it would be too complicated, having all those characters. It just won't be the same than just taking the sprite you're using off C-R, posting them in Paint/GIMP/whatever and making them.

While it might be good I personally believe that the true level of customized characters we have seen here would be incredibly difficult to perform, someone would have to sit and make a database of sprites which aligned perfectly with all the others which would be no easy feat, it would also deter the amount of work that other users have done to create their own customs, along with stealing their unique ability to make new pixel art out of old pixel art. Which I do not think would be highly fair to them as a fair few have been kindly offering to do the sprite work for free for others.
If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything!

It would be incredibly difficult, as DDRKhat said, to create PW-style sprites that all aligned perfectly enough that you could mix and match different features. And anyone who managed to do it would probably be facilitating a whole stream of bland-looking OCs that don't have the personalized touch that makes them special. I'm all for a doll program (anyone who knows me knows that I'm a big fan of KiSS), but an OC sprite maker with the kind of variety necessary to facilitate a ton of different styles, poses, and proportions doesn't seem very feasible.

I hope someone can prove me wrong, but my best suggestion would be to just give spriting a shot. It's not too hard once you practice! Thanks for posting your idea.

If you can click and drag the individual parts, rather than requiring perfect alignment automatically, it could work.
I'm all for it. Sprites are what's making Trials of Life take so long - I simply can't do anything more than a basic pose myself...
Of course, I dunno how well this'd work for me, since I have very specific ideas of what at least some of my characters will look like (for example, I already know _exactly_ what Nadue Sorae and Ryan Lee from Case 6, and prosecutor Sunrise will look)...
