I will give u permission to use my character Double A...he is a prosecutor that has known godot ever since their childhood...and he is a prosecutor mentored by Manfred Von Karma...and he has a grudge against Larry Butz for some reason (didn't make it up yet) don't flame me for making this topic because I just want to let u know that I can give u a sprite sheet for Double A if u want him as a prosecutor in your flash game...if u do message me first and I'll send u a sprite sheet. peace to all and Godot say: drink your coffee :godot:

I personally wouldn't want to use this prosecutor because of the set background he has. I prefer any and all OC characters to be completely unrelated to the created characters, there is no way to predict how their lives run or who they know, and I prefer that only the creators of those characters control that aspect.

Put the situation in the other stance. You have your character and someone is saying that their character is your characters father and bitch-slapped him around day and night to get him to work as a prosecutor. I'm not sure you would appreciate that.
If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything!

It's really nice of you to offer your help, but
- your character somehow lacks credibility ("and he has a grudge against Larry Butz for some reason (didn't make it up yet)" kinda makes it look like you just invented him moments ago.) If you want him to be used in a fangame, there are two options a) finished product with fully developed personality & background, and b) overall graphic concept [the rest is up to the fan game maker]. Your prosecutor isn't an a) yet, nor is he a b) because:
- if it's the sprite in your avatar then it's only an Egdeworth recolour. It has nothing to do with your spriting skills (who am I to judge your talent...), but it's obvious that you need practice: when you look at this sprite, the only thing you can think of is Edgeworth.
I'm not telling you to give up on your character, just to... keep working.
Thank you nonetheless :p

1. Four months is a very long time. I only made up my OC about a month ago, and the story's there.
2. Well, of course it's an edit of Edgeworth, but only a recolour. Try headsplicing and changing other crap around.
3. "Giving" a character to someone like that to use in their game, it's sort of like you have control over him. Should just give 'em the sprite, but then nobody would want that on its own.
4. Everything everyone else in this topic has said.

I'm not trying to insult your work and I'm certainly not trying to insult you. I'm just trying to tell the truth - not even the blunt truth, because there is no such thing as the blunt truth - that is, a) your character needs some work, and b) you can definitely improve your spriting skills with a little practice. That's called constructive criticism, and those who accept it are the ones who make it to the top =)
Now:

and duuuuuuuuuuh of course he's an edit of edgeworth what do u expect? a drawing of my own? jeez
> Nope. Making sprites from scratch is unbelievably difficult. But if you take a look at the work of other spriters such as Ceres or Glace Leau, you'll notice that these are merely edits, only much more complex ones. A+B's hair, C's eyes, D's mouth, E+F+G's costume + various recolourings, etc.

...and I just made him 4 months ago so cut me some slack. I haven't had much time to make up a backstory yet > 4 months is long enough, really...

I award this as the post of the day

He's right though, take it as CC and you'll do well to learn from it and achieve better with less mistakes.

I still personally believe you would benefit from sitting down and giving your custom character a good hard look over. Think to -yourself-. Would you want to be an exact duplicate of someone with a mere hair-color change?

Yeah. Just look at Ceres (worship him). You can hardly tell who the sprites he used came from. That sprite is a quick MSPaint recolour that is an Edgeworth clone. Even this used parts from other characters. Just a somewhat major suggestion.

jeez cut me some slack...I only made him up 5 days ago...for all u know this could be a prototype...and the only thing I edited was this

1. changed the hair color to red

2.changed the suit color to green

3. changed the vest color to red

4.restyled edgeworth's hair and made it the emoover (which is one piece covering one eye like our friend matt engarde :matt: )

so yeah cut me some slack...this might be a prototype so I might change him but for now...this is what he looks like so salute to Godot :godot: (he's my fav char =P)

No, there isn't. There are people who recolor, other who sprite, and other who draw their own.

I know. But because DoubleA5 said "what did you expect? a drawing of my own? jeez..." I thought it was a bad thing to draw things from scratch. But it seems it isn't.

If you hadn't figured it out, both posts were sarcastic. This topic by its own must not be here. This has nothing to do with games. This should be in the "Sprites" section.

Somebody loves saying "cut me some slack" :godot:

And one thing is being a newbie and another thing is getting mad at productive criticisms like 'Ping's. Those were frickin' great. Or examples like Ceres. That guy is AWESOME with sprites. Follow those examples and you'll be in your way to people actually wanting your character for their games (I'm not saying they don't!)

It takes some practice to create a good OC sprite. Just continue working on it, use some imagination, and you will come out with something good. I know. It happened to me. My spriting skills then were the same as yours now (but I dont have anything to prove it), but after a while and a good amount of practice, I came out with the sprite you see in my avy right now! So all Im saying is practice and it will definitely improve.

I still stand by this earlier statement.

Neon Lemmy Koopa is correct, good Original Character sprites take a while of practice. But once you get it, you will find people will be alot more appreciative of your character. I personally find the hair "modification" you did a bit silly as the hair covering his other part of his face is supposed to be facing the other way!

I also still dislike the background you have given your character but that is discussed as above.
-AND- as someone else has stated here, This needs to be moved to the sprites part of the forum, this is not a game.

P.S Neon, if your avatar is any indication of your new sprite work then it is ALOT better and I look forward to the new release of your game, I might be able to enjoy your character alot better in that fashion.
If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything!
