I remember when I was working with Ceres on his game and his dev forum, well he didn't have the moderating capabilities that he wanted so he closed it. I eventually started my game project and I was going to need a dev forum, so I came to the point where I thought: Why not make a board for everyone?

So ladies and gentlemen I introduce Ace Fancase!

Essentially what this is is a place for everyone to host their own, private development forum for their devevlopment team, and all you have to do is apply! It's not hard at all. It's something that's not fully complete (the logo is going to be an essential placeholder until I can find or make a better one), but the basics are there, and I'm hoping to get many people to make this a wonderful sub-community.

A lot of the original posts are from October '08 because thats when I started the forum, then I forgot the project for awhile, then I revived it in the last couple of weeks.

So all in all, this is a place where you and your team can work on your game without anyone else having to see it (yep, PRIVATE Dev forums).

I think that's it, so enjoy developers.

percei have you ever concidered making a part of that forum to allow people to actually get themselves a team...like post a help wanted or people can post up a can or will help...its not like that person is being forced to help anybody but anyways this is just an idea no need to listen :P

That's what this forum is for, Cold.

Anyway, I wouldn't use this (Threads and PM's are good enough for me) but I suppose it would be useful to some.

*Insert rant about how that's taking away from the Court Records forum and how more than one place for the same thing only makes things more confusing here*

I'm against the making-a-team forum because:

1. that's taking away from the Court Records forum
2. more than one place for the same thing only makes things more confusing

BUT that's just my opinion. (I should end all my posts with that)

Taking away from the forum... does that really matter?

I mean, if you think about it, all it does is divert them to a specialized place for this, and decreases some traffic off of CR. I mean if it becomes a HUGE issue with a lot of people I'll take it down.

And also, it'd only be used by people who want to have a dev. forum there because they'd be doing it to get a Dev. team there. If they didn't want to use a dev. forum, then they'd get one together here and be on their merry way. I mostly created this place for private development forums (so as much or as little they wanted to keep from the public could be kept private. So all it is a matter of choice.

Sorry if I came off pushy or defensive, I was just trying to explain some reasoning, didn't mean to be offensive or rude. :)

I'm not against the dev. forum, I just think that for stuff that isn't being kept private, in this case searching for team, another forum would cause less people at both (a decentralised thingy).

Like I said before though, that's just my opinion. You can find out what other people think.

I'm sorry I just burst into laughter, because I saw your description under the avatar, which makes everything up to this point make perfect sense. Thank you for your opinion Mr. Cheeze.

well all i was saying was that many games have not been completed (yes i know some are due to a lack of interest or that person gives up) but i believe sometimes its just because people cant find the help they need. heck we could create a topic in the games section for an all around help wanted/can help...this would allow people who are actually trying to find people to have one simple place to search instead of having to sit there and hope someone will bother to look into there section and think to themselves (you know i wanna help) or the gamemaker to search everywhere not to get a lick of help, on the plus side people who wanna lend a hand could say they would be willing then we could add them to the top post allowing game makers to have a nice place to get the people they need.

Sorry that was abit long, sorry if in any way i sounded rude :P

I guess it probably won't hurt.

(I'm not a LITERAL critic though, that's just there because of stuff like this)

Hm... is this only for development, or do you allow sections for completed games (for discussion of them by players) as well?

If only for development, the (very underused, compared to the main site) GyakutenWiki forums allow boards for each game...

If you look on the website, we have boards for games being hosted on our site, and anyone who wants to spread info about a finished fangame can do so in the finished board.

Ah, I see. Although, yours is only broken down by casemaker... the GW forums are more designed for one forum per individual game. Dunno how feasible that is on a free host, or if it'd be used...

The games themselves get their own individual forum for development that's hidden.

Those are just for discusson of the game itself by those not on the dev team.

I know, Necroing is bad and all, but I've seen a lot of people starting new fangames, so I thought I'd bump this old topic. Jutst so people know, it's actually being used, Turnabout Substitution has a board and PV:AA has a board, both games being developed from here.

I think you misunderstood me. I never said it was for me in there, now did I?

I noticed that the thread was revived, wanted to report, but I couldn't, since you were the original poster, and... my internet habit got the best of me. :garyuu:

Even if it hadn't been me it would be kind of silly to report it, because the forum itself is neither dead nor irrelevant.

You can't revive threads that are not made by the original poster. The said time is exactly 1 month, depending on said month.

I still find it somewhat dead... from my perspective. And so is my forum.

That doesn't mean anything, I don't have to get 2000 posts in a month to consider myself active. Oh well, this is descending into a petty argument.

As I noticed I was being a little biased, it seemed that to get a forum, you had to be using a coding Case Maker, but thats not true! I've added a section for development and finished games on AAO for people to showcase their games and also help develop them. I need someone to moderate these boards though. Hopefully, this will open the doors for many more people to use Ace Fancase.

Seriously? Did you seriously bump a thread with a dead forum?
I remember when CR was cool and Croik was the only one in charge.

I also remember when we used to have respectable members. :(

Dead forums don't get posts from "Yesterday".
