an Ace Attorney fangame by DeMatador
GyakutenWiki Page

Welcome to Ralldan Mynder: Ace Attorney, the first 100% custom Ace Attorney fangame!

Spoiler: Information
"Ralldan Mynder: Ace Attorney" is an Ace Attorney fangame being developed by DeMatador. The game's story revolves around rookie defense attorney Ralldan Mynder's first 5 cases, under the wing of his chief and brother, Dexter Mynder, and all the mysteries behind them, linking them together in an even more mysterious way.

The game is currently being developed in the PWLib engine (by KSA Technology (or KSA_Tech)) and episodes will be released in the following order:

Episode I Demo ==> Episode I ==> Episode II Demo ==> Episode II
and etc.

Spoiler: Update Log
-05/22: Another small update
Hey people, remember when I said I would post a new promotional image? Well, there it is, just below the logo. Tell me what you think about it, and stay tuned!

Just in case, those are Ralldan, Teans (Ep. I defendant) and, of course, Payne.

P.S: Oh, I almost forgot. I'm re-working the logo. This time, the big letters will be "Ace Attorney", JFA to AAI style. As I said, stay tuned.
----------
-05/19: Small Update
Hey! It's taken a long time, but I finally updated! Well, the reason for this update (don't say bump) is bumpDAMMIT telling you that, after hours of "No, this is not it!" and "GAH NO I HAVE TO START AGAIN", I've "perfected" the Ralldan-Normal sprite. Well, at least I found a way to complement the already existing one in a way I liked. Believe me, I tried a lot of styles, but none of them was either good or different than the "ghost, marker-like" one. Tell me what you think of it:

Image

P.S: Also, tell me if the Nervous and Desk Slam sprites need a rethink, too.
----------
-04/07: Back on Track
Finally, after four months of activity, an important lack of updates, and a hiatus,
"Ralldan Mynder: Ace Attorney" is back on production! And completely renewed!
What do I mean by this? Well, renewed is a very self-explanatory word. But, just in case:
Remember the old sprites? The promo picture? Yes? Great. Now forget them.
"Ralldan Mynder: Ace Attorney" is reviving as a whole new game.
Of course, the storyline is the same, but the graphics aren't. They are better this time, of course.
But I'll stop judging them myself, and I'll let you be the judge (no pun intended). Check Ralldan, Mattador and Jeremy Teans (Ep. I's defendant, it's all on the GyakutenWiki page, remember.)
Enjoy, people! After all, that's what I'm making this game for: for you (and I) to enjoy.
See ya!

P.S: Oh, BTW, I'll get a new promo picture up soon!

---Next update: More sprites (Mattador, The Judge, Teans), promocional art, and maybe in-game art (like snapshots, you know, like the little scenes that occur before the cases, the "intro", you may say).

(Ignore posts 2 and 3 guys, they no longer apply)]

I liked the old sprites way better... These look a lot more like low-quality MS Paint than the old ones.

I like the style, but I prefered the old ones. The thick black MSpaint outines are good if consistent...

And most animators have a setting not to layer frames...

Thanks for commenting!

About the sprites, I, personally, prefer this ones. I may try my hand at Mattador again, but Ralldan, let's just say you'll see him in-game how you're seeing him now.
When doing the first sprites, I had a different view on Ralldan. Even thought it's my own character, I still didn't "know" him. Then, when I thought most of the game up, writing "A New Turnabout", I started to "discover" his personality. And believe me, this Ralldan IS Ralldan. When I get a scanner, I'll show you very early Ralldan drawings I made in school, like, 1 year ago. I think I've reached what I was looking for. I honestly don't see what's wrong with this sprites.

And as for the .GIF animator, I already got one. Thanks anyway.

They're the same "personality", but these are a much worse graphical style. The others weren't that qualityful either, but a much better style.

Not to me, Mr. Cheeze. The other ones seemed too, er, "buffed up". I don't want Ralldan to be like that. I always wanted the sprites in this game to be cartoon-y. Sorry if I never mentioned that, but yeah.

"Buffed up"?

You took them down ages ago so I can't compare, but I don't think the others were any less cartoony. This ones look like they were drawn with markers though.

Yes, buffed up. His body was too big. He looked "strong".

I found this one much more cartoony, and I think them being "drawn with markers" could relate to them trying to be cartoony, don't you think?

EDIT: Wait, is this because I didn't draw Ralldan's arms in the Normal poses?

Don't think so. Maybe it's that the colours are much blander though, try one with the old colour scheme.

OK, I checked everything, and I still don't know what's wrong with this sprites.
The colors are the exact same. I actually like this sprites much more. Here are the old sprites Normal poses:

Image

See what I mean with "buffed up"? They are cartoony, but not enough for my taste (and with cartoony, I mean not the art style, but the feeling it gives. I want to make a difference between my sprites and the games' sprites, althought not a HUGE one.)

Let's do this, you tell me what I could change to the actual sprites and I'll do what I can (remember, I already tried changing the palette, but it turned out to be the same than before).

Those look different from the ones in the old thread... Maybe I just remembered wrong. Those DO look too buffed-up.

Well, for a start the new ones are straight forwards for some reason.

This ones I posted are the exact ones that were posted in the old thread. I never changed them. So, I'll try to make the new ones look a little less cartoony, if it bothers people. Would that work? You tell me, IMO, the actual sprites are quite good, althought I realise they are too cartoony, but I like them like that. But if the players don't, then they must be changed.

The old sprites indeed look too "buff," but the new ones look kind of ghost-like.

UPDATED GUYS

Also, Jibbs, I was using Microsoft's GIF Animator, which doesn't seem to count with that option.

Despite not being able to tell the difference, I still like the new one better. o.O

I think the sweat (not the pose, the sweat itself) sort of clashes in style though.

I'm pretty sure it does, I've made animations that overlap with it before, I think. Though it's been a while since I used it, so I don't remember how.

UPDATE

@RandomJibberish

Hmm, weird. I don't seem to find it anywhere.
But it's not really important; after all, I'm only using GIFs for posting them here, since PWLib doesn't support them (and I prefer sheets, after all). But, with the new GIF-to-Sheet feature, maybe I'll need these. But that's a different matter.

It'll be like that until I decide what style of witness' bench I'll use. That is, GS1-3 or GS4.

I'm glad you liked Payne! It was not easy, so it's nice to have some positive feedback on it.
