As Ping' stated in his release of T-Sub, this chapter isn't exactly "final" either. I'm aware of a few things I need to fix and add, and the odd bug or two may have slipped through no matter how well I beta-tested it.

As per always, please let me know of comments/constructive crit/bug reports/mistakes that may have slipped my notice.
But even more so, please enjoy :)

Hi Cardy, congrats on the release! I'm playing it at the moment but I thought to tell you of this major bug first.

Spoiler: Do not click unless you have played the conclusion
Bug: You cannot present the chair when you are trying to prove Krump was murdered elsewhere. The code in the
script says label chair when the evidence in the intro.txt document is called chairupdated! I lost quite a bit of
health before I realized the problem. Cardy...!

I'm nearly done so I'll post my full report soon!

EDIT:People, I've been told of a bug in the game:
Spoiler: If you used Skip To Part 4...
You're supposed to present Krump's chair when Brisbane asks where Krump was really killed. But it won't recognise the evidence...

Well I've found the solution.

Change "addev chairupdated" in intro.txt to "addev chair".
Or the "label chair" in scene41snowtestimony2 to "label chairupdated".
Then try again from the beginning of Snow's second testimony.

That should do the trick :godot: Apologies for this bug, it'll be fixed in the next upload.

Post subject:  Re: PW: Turnabout Scapegoat - Full chapter available now!

Well, I'm finally done, Cardy and boy, I am amazed. This was perhaps, the most amazing fancase I've played so far because not only was it interesting, fun to play and had great graphics, it had a really good plot too along with a brilliant antagonist. Well done! :edgy:

There was a lot more content than I expected, especially in the "confession" however that was good, since I was a bit worried it would end a bit too soon. ;)

Here's my full report.

Spoiler: Report
- No lobby before court? Unusual but I like it since the best part of a fan game is the trial period. :edgy:
- Brisbane is awesome! Especially, when he yells "HE WAS FOUND AT VERGLAS GORGE!"
- I noticed a problem with one of Brisbane's sprites or rather, the normal (I think) and the leer poses. They seem to flicker slightly. Perhaps you should just convert the .gif into a .png sheet with the converter to fix this..
- Kangaroo court? ;)
- Small bug: cross examine buttons remain after presenting evidence :/
- Bug: You cannot present the chair when you are trying to prove Krump was murdered elsewhere. The code in the
script says label chair when the evidence in the intro.txt document is called chairupdated! I lost quite a bit of
health before I realized the problem. Cardy...!
- That was hilarious when Phoenix discovered "Krump" was wearing coloured contacts. When I saw Titus' dramatic
animation (this was before Phoenix presented the photo), I noticed the blue eyes and groaned. I knew it wouldn't
be that easy to prove he was an imposter...
- Oh god... that was fucking amazing! Despite having seen the sprites before when I sheeted them, it was so much
better in game! Vex Vulper, you are fucking awesome!
- Death! Death! That scene was amazing! Just brilliant...
- There's a reason why Vulper is my favourite character and his response "I'm starting to think that he does't like me
very much" or whatever it was is one of the reasons! XD
- There's a bit of white that flickers in the normal Vexus sprite's hair.
- There's a tiny bit of flickering in Vinnie's sidelook blink sprite near his hair on his left shoulder.
- That's an interesting song you used for Vinnie when he appeared in court. Did you keep the old one as his theme
or replace it with this one?
- What a cocky, arrogant, bastard you are Vex Vulper with that cheesy grin of yours. :P
- Oho, I remember sending you a PM back when I was sheeting characters and I told you one of my theories that
Grossberg knew it was Vulper and wrote his name on the card! And I was right. XD
- Lol. Vex Vulper is 666. How ironic.
- Oh, great, Mia saves the day... again. :P
- My curiosity and youth saved the day! Maya's voice has a male blip
- cheesy grin Vincenzo...? Another one of my alternate theories has come true! XD
- I'm honoured to be in your credits, Cardy, even though I didn't do much. :P

I look forward to any future developments from you and wish you luck with developing The Haunted Turnabout.

Until then...

:karma:

There's been a few examples of skipping unecessary court lobby moments in a few AA cases... Really I just had nothing to say in them :P
Quote:

I'm personally glad he's developed this much. And lol, any reason why that particular part?

I saw too, the edges bolden slightly when he talks...
Quote:
- Kangaroo court? ;)

Gee, why am I not surprised you brought this up? ;)
Quote:

It happened with SilentBobX's case too. I reckon it's a 0.974 thing...

I wasn't quite sure on his choice of words, to me it just sounded quite hammy... Glad you liked it so much!

It was the tune I was gonna replace his Objection theme with. But no, Vinnie still has his old Objection tune.

You got that right too! :P

I should've given her more credit for her help... She just appears and disappears. But honestly I couldn't think of any other way to hint Nick about the enigmium.

Damn these stupid blip noises...

I tried to give him the personality of having repressed emotions hidden by a creepily calm exterior.
Quote:

You're welcome! It's because of you that most of these sprites even made it to 0.974!

A huge thank you for your comments, Tap. And for all your help.
I'm glad I finally got the damn thing over with! XD

I'm glad to have helped in the way I did. I really enjoyed Scapegoat and as I said, I'm looking forward to your next case.

That sounds like a good plan. Look at what happened to me - I went straight onto the former Case 2 after releasing Case 1 and then ended up abandoning it for a bunch of complicated reasons but that story is for another thread~

Now, if my favourite character could return in any future cases, that would be great. XD

So, I hadn't played this untill now, and I'm not nearly done, but something happend that's made me decide to point out a few things already, rather than to wait untill the end. So here goes:

Spoiler:
Notes on CoC

1. Grossberg's corpse is awfully slim.

2. The point of a prossecuters opening statment is to tell announce what he's going to do, not to explain the crime.
That's what they call detectives to the stand for!

(Side note: Could the person responsible for making PyWright stop it from saving at the start of every scene? I've clicked the new game button twice now by eccident, and I have to start all over again each time because it saves the game when I do.)

That last one is the "something" that made me quit for now. I also think I ran into a bug, but I'm not sure.
Spoiler:
At the point that Snow starts his testimony in vinny's last trial, PyWright closed itself. I didn't know if it was because of a bug or because of something I did, so I tried to reload the game, but that's when I clicked "New Game" by accident.

Quote:

I'm aware. It's because of the original plot, which was going to be "Was it really Grossberg who was murdered?" Correcting it keeps slipping my mind.

Hmm well he does that anyway...

I've been trying to disable it myself. He said he'll make autosave customisable next time.

Found the solution.
- Open "scene7a3snowtestimony1.script" and "scene7a4snowtestimony2.script"
- At the top of each script, delete "set _bigbutton_img general/vinniebuttonpress.png
set _bigbutton_img_high general/vinniebuttonpress.png"

That should do it.

Yes, next version will have more control over saves. But just so you know, it makes backups of all saves. Go into "games/PW - Contempt of Court/Turnabout Scapegoat" and delete autosave.ns. If you need to go back further than the most recent manual save, check in "games/PW - Contempt of Court/Turnabout Scapegoat/save_backup", find the save you want, and copy it to "games/PW - Contempt of Court/Turnabout Scapegoat/save.ns" to load it.

Interface for this stuff has been slated for the next version, which was supposed to be out a month ago, but I've been swamped.

Or you can just delete the ".png" off the end of those lines. Or wait for 0.975 which is going to be a bit better about file extensions.

Update:

Here's a re-upload of the full game, now with many pesky bugs fixed
Spoiler: Bugs fixed - may contain spoilers
- The Vinnie button is back, because I now know where I was going wrong with the code (thanks saluk!)
- You can now present the chair to Brisbane when asked about where Krump was really killed
- You can now view both the blackmail file and the playing card (with word revealed) without the game crashing

Spoiler: Comment
Somehow, I knew proving Vulper was impersonating Krump would be hard, considering Brisbane and, coincidentally, the fact that I wanted to catch a look at "Krump's" eyes and saw... blue eyes. But when exactly did Vex get these contacts? I know he used White's connections before, but, could he have gotten them when he made his "great escape" but forgot to put them on when on Verglas Gorge? Or when he was making his way to court, he wanted "something else than contacts" from a store and the guards in-charge of him let him bought them, throwing the receipt away and saying "the clerk must have forgotten to hand me one"?

Most of Snow's sarcastic lines (such as "No, I mean is there ACTUALLY a lightbulb over my head? Course I have an idea!") are from Frasier, my all-time favourite American sitcom :P
Some lines I wrote myself (being the sarcastic asshole I am), but the others were most likely lifted from Frasier.
