Hello fellow AA fans,

I would like to translate GS1 into dutch but I can't find any good tools to do it. From what I've seen, there is a very good editing tool for GK2, does a program like that exist for GS1? I will inform those that are interested about the project once I have the necessary tools.

I'm not of Dutch Descent, nor does my family or friends come from Dutch nor do I speak it, but I do think I have a solution. There are numerous "Phoenix Wright Case-makers" which are programs that let you create your own Phoenix Wright game. There a numerous ones, but a really good one out there is Pywright, and is excellent for those who have very little programming knowledge. All you would need to do is get the sprites from the original GS1 game, translate the script, and then basically replicate the game onto the case maker. The only problem with this method is that it would take you an EXTREMELY long time to create. If you want, you can tackle the project, but don't say I didn't warn you.

I won't consider that option but thanks anyway, what I'm looking for is a program like this:

but for GS1.

Does such a program exist?

The two best paths forward that I would reccommend would be to first try and use that program on GS1, and if it works, MARVELOUS, if not, then perhaps try and contact the original maker of that program (or that variation of that program) to see if he might be inclined to help you out with your project and/or make something similar for the other games.

Alright, I think that I know how Phoenix Wright Script Editor works. I have been testing all day and I managed to change the text to the point where Larry complains about dying into dutch. I did this to a US rom and it works on a DS too, the only problem I have is that I can't display letters with an apostrophe, like ó. Is this because I'm using a US rom and I should use an EU rom? Or is it because of the limits of the DS?

That's likely because it doesn't have that symbol in the font library. The only accented letters I've ever seen in an AA game are "é" and "ï", becaue they tend to not use accented names or words. Using a European ROM MIGHT help in that situation, but it's no guarantee, plus you'll have to deal with more or fewer text boxes to say the same thing, something that might take 4 text boxes to convery in English may only take 2 in French, and vice versa. It's a hiccup, but nothing terribly difficult if you're really willing to pursue your goal.

So as it turns out using a european version does not work either. This however is not such a problem since I can change the sentence so it won't be neccessary to use the word with ó. The only problem that I have now is where I can find the pictures because the evidence descriptions are pictures. I'm also considering using dutch voices but I might not do this because the game might lose it's feel due to it.

Well, if you need the image resources, I can recommend DeSmuMe with GLIntercept. I used it to get some of the less accessible graphics when I was doing rips of AAI and AJ. It rips the evidence picture, names, and descriptions too. Here's a tutorial on how to rip them and get the software to do so (it's all free), you're looking for "Part III. Advanced Sprite Ripping with GLIntercept"

As for inserting them back into the game... well, that I can't help you with, I'm afraid. I'm not terrible familiar with the software that you're using or where those images would be located in the .ROM.
