My fangame case project, Banjo: Ace Attorney. It was originally going to
be a flash movie, but I decided to make it playable. With the release
of PWLib and its tutorials soon, I figured I would set up the thread now.

Spoiler: Promotional Images, saving space

What is Banjo-Kazooie? It is a game series created by Rareware LTD.,
the first game and its sequel (Banjo-Tooie) were released for the Nintendo
64. Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge takes place between the two sequels
and was released for the Gameboy Advance. Finally there will be an
actual threequel known as BK: Nuts and Bolts for the Xbox 360.

We've been having a lot of crossovers later, but I've been developing
this fangame's concept for quite a few months now, also I'm desigining
it for Rareware/Banjo fans, and to try to get them to try a new game
genre. Because before whenever I suggested Ace Attorney, everyone just
judged the book by its cover and said it would be stupid. But don't
fret, this fangame isn't just for sole Banjo/Rare fans.

Developement Information:
Currently: Developing the transcript and making sprites. Also trying to remember to PM Don for Banjo voices...
Programming Development: None, waiting for PWLib and tutorials.

Progress:
Transcript: 65% (Current plan: Creating trial 2's transcript.)
Sprites/Graphics 17.6%
Music and Sound Effects 88%
Voices 30%
Programming 0% (First preparing transcript, sprites and other things before downloading both casemaker and tutorials.)

The progress is more likely to be updated at its article on
the Gyakuten Fan Wiki. http://www.gyakutenwiki.net/index.php?t ... e_Attorney

Voices:
After some thought, I'm thinking about getting another person to do
Banjo. His other voice clips aren't very clear and don't sound like
he's 'shouting', so.

To try out, please PM me. Try to attach a sample voice clip of the character
you want to do, especially if you want to try out for Kazooie.

Characters in Need of Voices:
Banjo (Objection, Hold It, Take That)
Bottles (Hold It)
Mumbo Jumbo (Hold It)

I have decided that these will be the only voices in the project.

Taken Voices:
Kazooie by Rhia.

The single case: Turnabout Grand Prix
Plot-wise it takes place just eight years after the events of Banjo-Tooie,
and it is also Banjo's third case. (Plot-wise Banjo took two cases prior which
he lost). The greatest and hardest racer in B.K. fame, Canary Mary, is
murdered one night and clues left behind are against Grape Jinjo, who was once
the all-time Greatest Banjo-Kazooie Player in the World eight years ago. His
younger sister, Violet Jinjo a girl scout, pleads to Banjo Bear and Bottles
Mole to defend her brother whom she believes is innocent. But is this case
really all that simple?

Characters:
Banjo Bear - The playable defense attorney and the one who defeated Gruntilda Winklybunion the evil witch years ago.

Bottles Mole - Banjo's mentor, a senior defense attorney himself. He'll bring you good advice during gameplay.

Violet Jinjo - A female purple Jinjo, who is also a girl scout. She is the younger sister of Grape Jinjo and wants to do anything in her power to help you and him.

Grape Jinjo - Male purple Jinjo and the defendant, accused of the murder of Canary Mary. Eight years ago he was the Greatest B.K. Player in the World.

Kazooie Breegull - The prosecutor of the case, her 'theme' will be
a surprise. She also has a trendy to call people nicknames, often ones
that are meant to insult.

Mumbo Jumbo - An ex-shaman who could preform powerful spells, he now works as a detective.

Humba Wumba - A witness of Canary Mary's death, she is an indian who lives in a wigwam. She is also a powerful shaman and was once a rival to Mumbo.

Boggy Polar - Boggy is a polar bear and lives in Hailfire Peaks - Ice Side with his wife and children, is a retired racer.

Canary Mary - Murdered victim of Turnabout Grand Prix. She was one of the hardest challenges in Banjo-Kazooie fame.

Klungo - The presiding judge of the case. He speaks in wisps.

One case is hard to make, let alone four cases. However whenever this
has been made and released, I may consider developing a sequel which
will have about four cases. But until then, current B:AA project is
what I am focusing on right now.

Discuss.

Sweet. Cross between Banjo Kazooie and Ace Attorney. Just don't try to take things too seriously.
I'm gone for so long, and the colors got all psychedelic! Woohoo!

Seriously? As in what?

If you meant the case, then the whole case practically breaks the forth wall. :P

God, I hate double posting.

Well on the 10th anniversary of BK, I had made a promotional image. I was originally going to post it here during that time, but it seems that I have forgotten. So here it is, a bit late.

Spoiler: Saving space
Image

I have also made a box art version of that, which can be viewed in the first post. Speaking of which, I have updated some of its progress information on it... finally.

In other news with development, I took another long break. :/ I should be getting back to the final transcript, but I kinda hit a contradiction block so I must somehow get around it. Whenever that transcript is done, previewed and edited by me I shall provide it to some beta readers, who's job is to beta read it of course. I still have yet to find those people.

Graphics.... not doing a lot of them. I'll try to get back to those whenever I finish that darn transcript. Eerm... wish me luck.

Attention,

The transcript is almost complete. I've reached the point where the killer does its usual breakdown and stuff. I still have to add a couple of more things, like the usual after trial and all that. Afterwards I will proof read the script and fix any errors.

But while I'm at it, I am looking for at least three beta readers. These people will read all four transcript notepads (investigation 1, trial 1, investigation 2, trial 2) and PM me back with updates. Try not to update the notepads themselves, I'll do that instead.

You may PM me if you would like to apply to be a beta reader. Thank you.

Alright. I have been in the process of reviewing the transcripts before sending them. I am on final trial script which I haven't completed yet, I'm sorry. Once I do, I shall PM them to the beta readers.

Katana and Lukegb have chosen to beta read, although I'm not sure if they're still here - the forums have only just returned. Again if you would like to help with beta reading, please do PM me.

Hey guys. I just wanted to say some stuff and ask for help.

I think my primary beta reader was Katana, although he hasn't gotten back to me on the remaining two transcript parts. :/ But don't worry, to the others who did help you still did a great job. In the older boards when I made the temp thread of this, I said that I came across with a problem, and it was probably enough to make me give up this project. But I haven't, I just took a long break from it. Still I do want this game to happen.

So I decided to ask you for help. My problem as explained by Katana, is that I got to a certain testimony part. And that the 'contradiction' and its 'solution' are... no good. I've tried to solve this myself, but I also kinda need the solution and contradiction to stay the same kinda. Yet I don't want my project to suck. So I will show you part of the transcript where the problem lies, in a spoiler tag.

Meaning yes, the following may be very spoilery. But I still need help nonetheless. To those who don't mind / care about spoilers in my crossover, read on.

Spoiler: The testimony part, may be spoilery
Note: Katana underlines his 'notes' by using /////'s.

*************
CROSS EXAMINATION
-- Why Grape Looks Different --

(1) Actually, Humba was
outside for most of the
night.

Banjo: HOLD IT!! Why didn't you tell the court this before?!

Humba: Humba Wumba only forgotten before.

Banjo: (Seems to me that you knew fully well...)

Banjo: So you were outside for most of the time?
Did Canary Mary walk past you?

Humba: Yes and yes. Strange Bird Woman say
hello too.

Kazooie: So then what happened?

(2) Before
going back in, Humba
saw Grape approaching.

Banjo: HOLD IT! I wonder, did Grape ever go
inside your wigwam?

Humba: No. Why would he? Grape only came to race
against Canary Mary. Or in this case, murder her.

Kazooie: So he came around the corner and you
spotted him. Do continue please.

(3) Grape was wearing
his clothes from younger days.
And scar was patched up.

Banjo: HOLD IT! Why was he wearing them?
They would probably be too small and tight for a grown boy like him!

Humba: Humba getting there.

Kazooie: Just be patient Shorty Shorts. And please, ask questions that are
relevent to this case.

Banjo: (But..)

Kazooie: Then what?

(4) Humba ask why. Grape
said he wore clothes so
Canary Mary will recgonize him.

Banjo: HOLD IT! But couldn't Canary Mary recgonize him either way?

Humba: Maybe not, eight years passed and Grape looks so
different now.

Klungo: The witnesss hasss a point.

Banjo: (..Maybe she does..)

(5) Then Grape go to
platform and Humba go back
inside. That's it.

Banjo: HOLD IT! And you only came out when...?

Humba: When Humba went out again, and saw Grape pointing gun at Canary Mary.

Banjo: So before returning to your wigwam, you saw nothing else
that was unusual?

Humba: Nope. Humba can't be in two places at the same time.

***After passing through these testimonies***
Banjo: I'm getting no where just asking her questions.
Bottles: Maybe instead of trying to pull information out of
testimonies, try presenting a contradicting evidence.
Banjo: Maybe I ought to...

// That's not a contradiction. Especially for the player's first
// contradiction, it has to be something very simple: "MURDER AT 8,
// DEATH AT 9!" etc.
***Present Glowbo at (5)

Also, this may not be the actual contradiction thing. There were several others that I think I managed to solve. But I encountered this awhile ago, so I don't have the best memory. But I really do think that this is it.

If you need more of the transcript to work with, ask me and I'll PM it. I just really need help. :/

Hey! Good to see you're back on track with this. It's a little roundabout, but I may have thought of something...

Spoiler: case-related
It would involve adding some information to an earlier conversation. When Banjo first finds the glowbo, and it's said that it can be used to transform into something, Banjo might suggest "Wait! Maybe that means that Humba could have transformed-..." to which he is cut off by Bottles: "No, no, no...that wouldn't make sense. The thing is, Humba can transform herself without the aid of a Glowbo. They're only used to transform other people!"

It might involve people remembering a certain fact for a while, but you could add it to the court-record description (maybe).
The next part would involve de-railing the testimony a little. Obviously, this requires Banjo to ask some further questions. ("Hmmm...maybe I should ask some questions, Banjo-style!") Then, the player chooses "Was anyone else in your hut?" Humba adds "No one was in my hut for the whole night." That's when you present the Glowbo.

It's definitely hard to get the contradictions right...I'll say one thing, writers of NORMAL mysteries have an easier job.
Glad to see you're continuing with this. I had stopped reviewing because I wasn't sure if you wanted to continue, but I can get started on the other parts soon.
I'm gone for so long, and the colors got all psychedelic! Woohoo!

This seems pretty good, and it's gotten me interested in the case. I just want to point out some nitpicky grammar things.

Spoiler: Lines + changes
Kazooie: So he came around the corner and you
spotted him. Do continue, please.

Kazooie: Just be patient, Shorty Shorts. And please, ask questions that are
relevant to this case.

Humba: When Humba went out again, she (or no word here)saw Grape pointing gun at Canary Mary.

Banjo: I'm getting nowhere (no space) just asking herquestions.
Bottles: Maybe instead of trying to pull information out of
testimonies, try presenting a contradicting evidence.

I figure Humba's grammar is supposed to be a little wonky.
Anyways, as I said, this is nitpicky and mostly just for cleanliness.

Also, I agree with Katana that, as this is the first testimony, there can be a little more illuminating information. For example, Bottles can help the player a little more after the "testimony cycle." (as I call it for lack of a better term :P)

Looking forward to hearing more! I have high hopes for this game! :phoenix:

Thanks for pointing those out. I'm not great at grammar, at all. My eye can't even notice easy things, such as missing a's. Eh.

I'm really not sure about this project anymore. I haven't been working on it lately. Heck, I haven't even updated the older notepads with the solution. I've stopped making its sprites all together. I find myself ignoring this thread too....

I've promised this project to a few Rareware sites too.... I feel down about this.

Don't give up <3 You can do it! I once gave up on a video I was working on - but I got right back to it, finished it and put it on Youtube! Then it got deleted coz of the music I used on it :payne: Then my whole account got banned. But that's not the point.

Do you... Is this a cry for help?

I'll even give beta reading a shot if you're really in desperate need.

I have a craving for a good case, and this pretty much fits the bill. And if I can help it finish in some small way, I'll try.
