So, it turns out that there's a fair amount of Gyakuten Kenji is known.

That said, do you think the game itself will be a better one than the Ace Attorney series?

Or will it fall short of Phoenix's greatness?

I'm hoping that it'll be better, just because it is Edgeworth. But, I'm sure that it won't be the same as experiencing the PW series. ^_^;; I won't really know until I get my hands on it, though.

I also hope that it is better. My favorite part of Phoenix Wright were the investigations, so I think this will really appeal to my interests. I also like confronting witnesses, but thought sometimes going through some of them was a bit tedious. I hope the intergation phase is not too long, but still satisfying when you finally learn the all important truth.

Really? Ha, I actually don't think it will.

I'm sure it'll be an enjoyable game and I'll have issues putting it down, but I don't think Edgeworth will overcome Phoenix.

I can only hope for the best. I have high expectations, but I don't think I'll really care if it lives up to Phoenix or not. It's still Ace Attorney, so that means I'll probably love it! :edgy:

I think that's all that matters in the end.

It'll depend on the direction, really. If all they're doing is a cameo-fest to please fans, I think it'll be a lot of fun but won't have the lasting effect of the other games. However, if they take a leap and really put some oomph into story (either by developing Fran, or tying Edgeworth in AJ or something) I think it has a good chance of standing up to the other games. If anyone in the AA games has the character to hold up a spin off, it's Edgeworth.

I just hope they don't go overboard and throw in a ton of Edgeworth backstory we never knew about - the eternal "Why didn't we know that sooner?" conundrum. Like if they try to shoehorn Mikumo into an important position by making them related or something lazy like that.

I think it should stand up. Edgeworth has a lot of personality, and is able to be both a comedic and dramatic character with equal ablomb. So the chances are good.

Personally, I can see me either loving it (Edgey!) or hating it--because I've put up such high standards for it. I agree with Croik, it kinda depends how much effort they put into it. So far it looks really awesome.

As for the whole backstory thing, that's why I think Gumshoe is such an opportunity. There's never really been a reason we would learn anything about him, so the "Why didn't we know this sooner?" problem doesn't exist.

I also really like the idea of Mikumo being an innocent person Edgeworth got a guilty verdict for back in his 'demon days' who's back for revenge.

That could be interesting. There is nothing to say that Edgeworth's cases were only murders (all though the only evidence we have now is that. He could have prosecuted thieves and other criminals too.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but the game's under a different director, ya? As long as I figure that, I can't really be sure. I have a lot of faith in the game though, so I'm sure there's some point in the game, (Edgeworth at gunpoint MMHMMMMMM) that'll make me love this game.

As long as Mikumo's not some terrible Mary Sue that becomes dear to Edgeworth's by constantly annoying him, then I'll be fine, but so far I think she's only in there to be Edgeworth's Maya...

I'm looking at Mikumo the same way I did Trucy originally: very low expectations of being anything more than Maya 2. But with Ema and with Trucy I eventually became attached to them (to be honest, more than Maya herself). So I purposefully trying to keep from thinking too much about Mikumo until she's in front of me.

I don't know about you, but the first time I saw Trucy and Ema, I sorta guessed they wouldn't be totally like Maya, and even though they are actually real similar, I totally loved them once I got to play with both girls in time.

I am hoping that the game will be at least good. :udgy:

It's still very disapointing that there will be no Court Sessions in the game, however, That doesn't really affect my feelings on it, since I liked investigation better in the games. [Any Death Threats Will Be Deleted :redd:

Yes. I think it will be BETTER than Phoenix's adventure.

However, I think they should learn from GS4's mistakes and try not to make it too dark.

I doubt this game will be any darker than a previous Ace Attorney game, really. It still has Gumshoe, and Edgeworth himself is often comic relief through his haughty shockedness. I prefer that, though. Woe upon the day Capcom makes a angst angst angst AA game.

Sorry Tinker no offence intended I just watched a film once that had a dude go into a 'funhouse' and it was a heavy S+M thing in amsterdam much to his surprise...and agony.

Okay, you guys made some good points about the angst thing. My thing is, along with Crouton, I love seeing Edgey get tortured. Not because I'm a sadistic maniac, but because Edeworth-in-despair-because-of-his-complicated-emotions is my favorite Edgeworth. XD So, to rephrase what I'm hoping for, I think the mood of a lot of the cases should match Phoenix's, but they should have at least one case where we delve in Edgey's or Franziska's or Gumshoe's past. :edgy:
