I'm slightly skeptical on Gyakuten Kenji, I mean, sure, I'll buy it, it's just I don't like the whole ''Eureka'' thing.

Surely the guys at CAPCOM couldv'e thought of something a little better than Eureka, what is this, the 18th century?

Wut?
It's just a word Edgeworth will use when you connected the clues right. What's the problem?
It's not something major, really.

I dont like eureka either. Somehow I just think it feels misplaced. I would have gone for something simple as "Got it!"

Lol, try several centuries B.C.E. Eureka's classical Greek for "I have found it", and it's kept that meaning ever since. I think it's awesome. There are a lot of obvious and less-obvious classical references in the game, and I was wondering when we'd see the first one in GK.

Check the main site or trial minutes, there's been a trailer, a release date, and new screenshots of this game.

And this is the one this topic's about;

Oh, thank you so much! I get it now.

Is it bad that I laughed when I heard him say that? I think it's pretty cool though. xD

I assume it would be - no reason why they can't get the same guy to phone the word in...perhaps he just couldn't capture the mood of that moment right, I dunno - sounds fine to me generally though.

eureka! sounds a tad eiffy to me, but I think I might come to love it. I'm starting to think they might be using a different voice actor for Edgeworth because the TAKE THAT sounds different, less britishy in a way..... :yuusaku:

Yeah, this for me too.

Also, I think "Eureka!" especially fits in with logic mode. I mean, he's thinking about all these facts, and then all of a sudden--EUREKA!! Makes sense, doesn't it?

I laughed out loud at "EUREKA!," since I jokingly suggested that "Kore da" would translate to that a while ago. X3 Never thought it would actually happen.
For some reason, the thought of anybody saying 'EUREKA!" outside of a laboratory sounds odd. But I still love it. It's so geeky-- so EDGEY. "That's It" would've been really cute, though. n_n

If there are any other new voice additions, my money's on 'EGADS!" For thruths.

Eureka means simply "I have found it" and I think it was the old greekish scientist Archimedes that stated it when he found out about bodies in water.

Well that's the person everyone is taught about shouting the word out when he understood the principle of water displacement (ie. the level of water rise is equal to the volume of an object placed within it). Apparently it is also used as California's state motto following the gold rush in the mid 19th century...

Well at least it sounds not that bad...I heard that Edgey usually talks with written words in the original game, and he really like to use composite sentence. One of my friend who's pretty good at Japanese also told me that the way he talks makes him sounds like really polite, but maye he doesn't mean to be polite at all, because the sentence form and grammar he uses is really complex and hard to remember.Maybe that's what the localization team are trying to express?

"A-ha!" is Phoenix.

"That's it!" is Apollo.

"I've got it!" is Luke, from Professor Layton.

"Eureka!" is pure Edgeworth.

I wouldn't necessarily say he comes off as "polite" but rather...formal? It's not like he uses flowery keigo or anything. But he is defnitely refined.

I think Eureka works great in this instance, because even if it is a little unusual, it makes me think of old school detectives, and that is the role Edgeworth takes in the game.

Well, somehow it's a bit strange. I thought he is the type of guy who is always reserved and
the only place where he has such emotional moments is the court room. Because I think 'Eureka!' is a bit too emotional for him.

But it shows that he is a cultivatet man. I don't think he would say 'That's it!' and go down on the same level like Phoenix.

Haha. XD But yeah, from what I can tell, Mitsurugi uses the more formal Japanese rather than the informal type that most people speak to each other. (Which is good, because that's what I learned first and am more used to. Haha.)
