I always thought of Franziska as an illegitimate child for some reason. Mainly because I don't see Manfred being the "committed relationship" type.

Really? I figured the opposite. I'd think that having a wife and kids would be his vision of a "perfect" home life.

Yes I agree with you. We know that Manfred has 2 daughters. The elder has a girl who has a dog, and then it's Franziska. In my opinion, Manfred had two wives, the first with who he had his elder daughter, and the second with who he had Franziska, but in both cases they were probably arranged weddings, and Franziska's mother must have been younger than him. She is probably dead before Franny even get to know her, because I don't see Manfred having a divorce. So yeah she's dead, and because he didn't want another child, he hasn't remarried, that's all. Manfred is too perfect to have illegitimate children. :karma:

In my head-canon Franziska's mom died soon after Franny was born. I can imagine her being the only one who could at least somehow influence on Manfred positively. And the reason why Manfred's older daughter have family and normal life (and I belive that she is not a prosecutor) is that she was raised mostly by her mother. But without her Manfred did everything to train his second daughter to become his successor since childhood.

I think of all the von Karma family theories, this one is my favorite. It's both credible and tragic at the same time.

I believe Franziska is too soft not to have had a mother. What I mean is, that even if superficially she's a "true" von Karma, she's emotional, honest, fully respectful of the law and while she doesn't want to show it, she's happy to have Edgey on her side. She is so different from her father that it makes me think she received some sort of love from her mother -or someone who took her place-, and not only from ol' Manfry, and while her father had a major impression on her, she's still far from being a clone of his, even from being his successor.

That's not the vibe I got. Manfred did everything to train Edgeworth to become his successor because he wanted to ruin him, but I see nothing that indicates he cared about Franziska becoming a prosecutor. Manfred trained Edgeworth and Franziska tried to outdo Edgeworth to get Manfred's attention, but it didn't really work.

Seriously, Franziska was only slightly behind Edgeworth at the age of thirteen and Manfred was pretty much "yeah, whatever." Either Manfred was so focused on taking revenge on his dead enemy that he ignored his own daughter or he was the kind of guy who silently resented his own wife for not giving him sons. Either way, he was a super-shitty dad.

This actually makes sense.
In case 4 I was expecting Franziska to be cold to her father. It's sweet how she calls him papa instead of "father"

Still cute though. You kinda feel bad about everything that happened with Manny in relation to her.

Very thankful for this, it's a positive direction for her character continuing from where they left off in GS3.

I think that's because most of times she's more calmer then in previous games. She was usually pissed off around Phoenix and others, but Edgeworth seem to have good influence on her - she starts thinking more about how overcome him in something then whipping everybody around and call them foolish fools. xD

Again, very good, let's hope it continues.

I played the spanish version, maybe I didn't noticed hehe.
Also, they mentioned something about 2-4, franziska freaked out about that. She never mentioned Adrian, even though she is her only friend. Isn't she?

She barely ever talks about him in JFA, only when she first meets Phoenix. I think, anyway.

THOSE PICTURES ARE ADORABLE.
She really is tiny in the last one, hee hee~

It took me so long to realize that in her case 4 outfit the yellow-striped thing is a sleeveless jacket of sorts, not just yellow stripes on her shirt. It's more obvious in the mini-sprites, I guess.

Hmm.. I don't think that he didn't care about her at all, that's not how the Perfect father and his Perfect daughter should be. And it's impossible for her to learn all that law stuff all by herself in that age, she said it herself in JFA, she never was a genius, she is just a hard worker. I believe that Manny paid them both enough of attention, regarding to learning. He just cared about Miles more in case 4 because there should have been his first court trial. But when he allowed them to investigate the crime scene he said something that will be a good experience for them both, and later he allowed them to continue their investigation only after Franny asked him about it.
I actually don't think that Manfred was that bad with his disciples, just remember how much they respected him, and Franziska loved him a lot as father, so perhaps he had some kind of "bright side" after all.

Thanks for adorable pics, Shadow, Jacques and Aevitas. I haven't seen some of them. ^^

I thought ickle Franny was absolutely adorable.....especially in the vertically heightened sections. It also explained how she coined the term scruffy for Gumshoe, it struck me as odd that a grown woman would adopt such a term but coming from ickle Franny it's absolutely adorable.

Though some of those more 'shippable' pictures up there make me cringe a little due to well....ages and stuff.

I also did wonder though why she held back on some of the obviously villainous or troublesome, like

Eh, I didn't find any of them to be very suggestive. They just show them being friendly and adorable family members.

Doesn't she try (and fail) to whip Lang at an earlier point? I guess she figures he'll dodge it or something. Also, assaulting your accuser would probably just make you look worse.

I dunno....that one where she has Bratworth pinned down beneath her legs and the one where Kay is crawling shoeless up her body seem pretty suggestive to me.

And I guess I remember that thing about maybe whipping him. Still she's whipped the Judge no problem before so authority shouldn't stand in her way.

Spoiler: Final Case Final Act
Especially surprised she didn't destroy Alba with that whip since he was so obviously lying. The line Edgeworth produced about "They do realise I'm only going to present evidence" seemed especially indicative of the powerful almost violent hatred they felt for him.

Spoiler: Case 5
I found her lack of Lang whippety-whip-ness to be very indicative of her character. She seems to have a pretty good relationship with Lang, and it must've really surprised her to get accused like that by him. It takes her a while to recover, and when she does first whip him he can easily stop her. She's really obviously unnerved 'cuz I think she trusts and respects Lang quite a lot and she honestly believed Lang suspected her. Poor kid. Once Edgeworth proves her innocence and Lang sorta-accepts it she manages to whip him good - maybe she lost focus and aimed wrongly when she was confused?

Ickle Franny's little riding crop was so cute as was her height problem XD Such an undeserved whip of Edgeworth.

Ema will have to use an infinite ammo code to win this one.

Li'l Franzy's tiny riding crop was adorable, especially when she had that animation where she just basically bent it. And especially, especially her finger point where she has to use the riding crop to take up the same amount of space on screen as Edgeworth does. D'aww.

Since you're all talking about franziskas childhood and all that I felt that I would want to share my 2 cents.
I always thought that Franny had a pretty rough childhood where she always wanted to impress/ get attention on her father. Since Miles always got Manfreds attention.I think that Manfred was teaching Franny and Miles at the same time. But Miles got all help and attention and that motivated Franziska to study harder to one day be able to beat Miles and get her fathers attention.

Seconded, every word. And she must have felt so confused when Edgeworth met Phoenix again and started splitting away from von Karma's methods, and especially in 1-4. What a mindscrew that must've been for her. The father that she respected so much to be revealed as a psycho murderer who killed her adopted brother's FATHER... and then Edgeworth fakes suicide and leaves her alone in Germany to go search for the truth.

If she switches to Golden Snackoos I think we have a bit of an incident on our hands...
