The bolded word "PARTNER" is thus on Gumshoe's profile picture. Now I doubt they would place that if he was indeed a permanent one. I mean, especially next to the ...map?
We have confirmations that Gumshoe is indeed Edgeworth's MAIN partner and more than likely Ichijou Miku so I assume they will switch over the game's course depending what happens.
But will they be the only ones? Like...do you think there will be temporary one-shot case partners at some points?

They could have little one-shot partners for things like "Let's go look for X together!" "Can you bring me to Y?" "Fine! Go show me what contradicts Z!"

I really like that idea; it reminds me of Fatal Frame 3 where you had to use different characters to get different goodies/unlock places/defeat foes

That could also make the game less linear, especially if you had to have a certain partner to unlock specific testimony or evidence.

Reminds me of that incident with Kudo and Mia.
Maybe our lovely Key-Girl will have to win the affections of some difficult witness? Or perhaps Gumshoe's honest and friendly demeanor will make them open up?

LOL. I'm not sure if I like this whole 'blah joins your party' thing. Though, I guess we did have it in the normal games. You just didn't have to WATCH them following you around.

Like I said before, I was thinking Fatal Frame 3, where it's more of a puzzler than an action game like it's two predecessors were.

I know. I guess I should of worded my post better. I meant, I'm not sure I like this idea/hypothesis/speculation. Or I'm not sure this is how I'm hoping things will be.
I think if we do have 'partners following us around', it won't be like we get to choose them, like 'do you want Franziska to join your party'? If we do have it, it will be more like

As in, we don't get to choose, it just happens. That's kind of how it worked in the normal games.

Also, this partner switching thing has definitely been confirmed by the new scans. In the old ones, Gumshoe was seen following you, but in the new one, Key Girl is behind him. (Boo)

Key Girl should be able to pick locks (accessing restricted areas) and pickpocket other people (to gain evidence).
Franziska can use her whip to tame witnesses (Oldbag springs to mind) and grab objects from a distance.

And I hope it's like that. I don't like the idea of it being a "party system". I just can't help but seeing Gumshoe magically appear out of Miles his pocket when Miles needs to lift a crate while Gumshoe was at the police department or something earlier that is a few miles away from the crime scene.
That would just be really weird. I think systems like that should be left in RPG games. (Which I love btw, don't take me wrong.)
