So, this thread is to discuss the music... (I hope there isn't already a thread like this... I checked the first few pages and didn't see one.)

Anyway, I'm near the end of case 3, and so far my favorite piece of music is Kay's Theme! I think it's really upbeat and catchy, and love the instrumentation. ...It reminds me a bit of the Steel Samurai CADENZA.

I also really liked Rhoda's Reminiscence theme. I thought it fit her and the situation really well, and was just nice overall; it might be my favorite reminiscence theme in the entire series.

So, what's everyone else's (least) favorite tracks, and overall throughts on the soundtrack?

Post subject:  Re: AAI Music Discussion

I quite like the music! Buuut, some of the tracks aren't very AA. Take Confrontation - Moderate. Compared with other CE themes, it seems to have the least amount of tunefulness. But Allegro and Presto make up for it, being catchier. (My favourite's Allegro. Awesome drumbeat!)

Mind you, Cornered Lying Coldly is excellent for a Cornered theme.

I think my favourite track of GK/AAI so far is Tricks and Baroque. (I think that's it.) It's like Tricks and Gimmicks - Allegro. But it sounds pretty epic!

Post subject:  Re: AAI Music Discussion

Moderato and Allegro sound pretty similar to me, actually :yuusaku: But Presto is pretty awesome. I also think Lying Coldly is a great Pursuit theme. (Not as good as Cornered, buuuuuuuuut...)

I don't really remember the Trick themes... I'll have to check them out

Personally I think that this game has the best music out of all of the games, including AJ. I really loved the piece that started with just piano and then added strings, though I have no idea what the name of it would be. Any help? :yogi:

EDIT: How could I forget? Blue Badger March is AMAZING. Easily my second favorite (behind Kay's theme)

Why did it only play once?!?!?!

I haven't finished the game, but I'm already in Case 3... So far, my favorite song the song that plays when you Trigger "Logic Mode" and the Objection Theme (I suppose), I actually like this version better other than Great Revival~Miles Edgeworth

Post subject:  Re: AAI Music Discussion

I've only played case one in English, but playing through in Japanese I noticed that they don't play Confess the Truth 2009 often. I actually really like that, the 2009 mix is so dramatic it's good it's only used at pivotal moments.

I'd say my favorite is definitely "Calisto Yew - Ace Attorney". It's just so... amazing. It fits so well with her light-heartedness.

Other favorites:

Announce the Truth 2009
Confrontation ~ Presto
Pursuit ~ Lying Coldly
Thief of Truth (Kay Faraday's theme)
Objection! 2009

Post subject:  Re: AAI Music Discussion

Even if this game had totally SUCKED BALLS (which it didn't!), its legacy still would have been worth remembering merely because of this song.

Seriously, it's my favorite tune in the game by a long shot. The feeling it invokes is just so...awesomely serious (or should I say seriously awesome).

My other top songs are:

2. Tricks and Baroque
3. Investigation ~ Opening 2009
4. Confrontation ~ Presto 2009
5. Wakana Shiraoto ~ Good Night
6. Investigation ~ Core 2009
7. Investigation ~ Contradiction at the Crime Scene

Well, maybe not exactly in that order, but more or less. The rest of the game's music is good as well, but these are my favorites!

Post subject:  Re: AAI Music Discussion

Announce The Truth 2009 is the most fitting Announce The Truth theme they ever did.
Confrontation ~ Presto 2009 is extremely catchy.
Pursuit ~ Lying Coldly is an excellent theme.
Zinc Lablanc II ~ Time is Money is one of the best character themes out there.

And I could go on, but not right now.

Post subject:  Re: AAI Music Discussion

Rhoda's "reminiscence" theme (Doubted People) touched me, so it's definitely one of my favorites. If I had to make a Top "X" list, it would look something like this:

Doubted People
Confess The Truth ~ 2009
Confrontation suite
Zinc lablanc ~ Time Is Money
Kay Faraday ~ The Thief Who Steals Truth
Quercus Alba ~ The Enemy Who Surpasses The Law
Tyrell Badd ~ The Truth Isn't Sweet
Solution! ~ Splendid Deduction
Pursuit ~ Lying Coldly
Reminiscence ~ False Relations
Reminiscence ~ KG-8

Post subject:  Re: AAI Music Discussion

It just has too many good songs. :D

My personal favorites:
All investigation tracks
Logic - The way to the truth
Miles Edgeworth - Objection 2009
All confrontation tracks
Pursuit - Lying coldly
Kay Faraday - The Thief Who Steals Truth
Yatagarasu - The Gentleman Thief Who Dances in the Black Night
Reproducing the Scene ~ The Gentleman Thief's Secret Weapon
Court - Guardians of the Law
Calisto Yew - Let Me Laugh at the Cool
Dick Gumshoe - I can do it when it counts, pal!
Confess the Truth 2009

My top 5:

1.
Spoiler: Just to be safe
* Alba's theme. It just radiated menace.

2. Lying Coldly
3. Lang's theme
4. Edgeworth's Objection theme
5. Tyrell Badd's theme

I made a youtube playlist of my favoritest AAI themes.

But it's not exactly in order of favorites. For me that would be.

1) Announce the Truth 2009
2) Eccentric 2009
3) Kay Faraday's theme
4) Lying Coldly
5) Tyrell Badd's theme.

I don't exactly care too much for the rebuttal themes, not even the Presto version. The Objection theme was also ruined for me ever since someone on Youtube mentioned the background trumpets sounding like farts...

The AAI music is great, but in some parts I still miss the old ones. But some of my favorites, in no particular order include:

- Logic - The Way to the Truth
- Confrontation Themes
- Miles Edgeworth - Objection 2009
- Kay Faraday's Theme
- Lang's Theme
- Zinc Lablanc - Time is Money
- Court - Guardians of Law
- Calisto Yew - Let Me Laugh at the Cool
- Dick Gumshoe - I can do it when it counts, pal!
- Tyrell Badd ~ The Truth Isn't Sweet

WOW, what a huge list... :godot:

I thought the Reminiscences weren't that great in this game (but as I didn't like them in T&T either, I guess it's the head composer's fault...or just my taste's :p). Don't get me wrong, "False Relations" was stunning, but "Torn Apart Countries" (imo the weakest Reminiscence ever) and "KG-8 incident" were a disappointment compared to the awesome rest of the soundtrack.
And why does no one mention the case intros (they are part of the soundtrack after all xD)? The case 3 intro music was hands-down brilliant, so fucking creepy and along with the music they used it was a pant-shitting-moment of awesomeness.

Post subject:  Re: AAI Music Discussion

Where are you people getting "Lying Coldly" as the name of the Pursuit theme for this game? Is this one of those "Distant Traces of Beauty" fanslation mistakes?

I pretty much liked all the music in AAI, though I really can't tell the difference between Cross-Examination's Moderate and Allegro versions, and Presto sounds absolutely nothing like either. Stand-outs in my mind at this moment are Gumshoe's remixed theme, Kay's theme, Yatagarasu's theme, Cammy's, Zinc's, Alba's, the Court theme, and of course Pursuit.

That's probably the Japanese name translations, which may or may not vary from the English names. Of course, that's just me guessing.

My favorite tune... I don't know. I can't decide between Confrontation ~ Presto 2009, Announce the Truth 2009, and Pursuit ~ Lying Coldly. The whole soundtrack is schweet, though. The presence of Confrontation ~ Presto makes me wish they made a version for

Post subject:  Re: AAI Music Discussion

The first track I absolutely fell in love with is definitely Announce/Confess the Truth 2009. I thought it was awesome and really fitting as you confront someone after exposing their lies. But I think my absolute favorite of the game is probably Crises of Fate.

Hearing it when

Spoiler: Case 4 finale
Yew pulls out the gun in Court and points it at Edgeworth, right before her big escape

sent chills down my spine! That was probably my first big Holy shit moment of the game.

Props also go to Kay's theme and Lang's theme. Especially the latter, since I cannot resist rocking out to it whenever it plays XD

Honestly, I don't think there's a single piece of music in the game I actually disliked. I do like some more than others, but I found that each song best represented their appointed scenarios, and thankfully weren't overplayed (hello, Fragrance of Dark Coffee).

My favorite song in AAI is probably Confrontation ~ Presto. It's just that catchy, and the energetic pace really gets the mood going.

I can't get Great Revival 2009 out of my head. Just perfect as this game's defacto objection theme. The chimes are a nice touch.

Post subject:  Re: AAI Music Discussion

I especially love the Final Confrontation music. Just how it jacks the music up a notch at the start prepares you for something epic. That said lying coldly is also fantastic (though where did the whole lying coldly thing begin?).

Additionally.....I like Detective Gumshoe's....new theme? I question this because I swear I've heard both his old theme and a more modern 'jazzy' theme with upbeat Piano in it in the same game.

Edit: Got the name "I can do it when it counts pal!" is his revised theme but his old theme also plays I'm certain. Additionally Tyrell Badd's theme is IMMENSE. It reminds me of various Advance Wars tunes I loved.

It still sounds stupid and doesn't make sense compared to the titles of the other Pursuit tunes, or even compared to the original translation. 'Want to Get the Truth' is a lot better, or maybe just 'Chasing the Truth'?

So, anyway, I loved pretty much all of the game's music, but I'll list my favorites, in no particular order:

Confess the Truth 2009 - Easily the best one of the series. It was so fitting in the moments it was used, especially
Spoiler: AAI-5
the reveal of the Yatagarasu's true identity, which I totally did not see coming.

Tyrell Badd ~ The Truth Isn't Sweet - One word: badass. That is all.

Spoiler: AAI-5
Quercus Alba ~ The Enemy Who Surpasses the Law
This theme just oozes menace and authority from every single note. It really fits the arrogant, immensely powerful bastard that Alba is.

Calisto Yew ~ Let Me Laugh At The Cool

Dick Gumshoe ~ I can do it when it counts, pal! - I just wished it had been used for Gumshoe's regular theme, instead of only at certain moments.

Crises of Fate
Spoiler: AAI-5
It just added to the HOLY SHIT! feel when Calisto pulled her gun on Edgey.

Noisy People - It's quite good on its own, but not the best. What makes it great is
Spoiler: AAI-3
how incredibly well it fits Oldbag.

...I could go on all night, but I won't. :adrian:

XD LOVE IT!

Hell with that perspective throw a 'General Custer' style hat on his head and he'd resemble Carter from AW:DOR.
Plus I think some of the heavy percussion in his tune fits with the 'tinkering' themes of some of the CO's. His theme conveys a lot of weaponry to me.
