Heavy Duty/Defenders of the Faith - Judas Priest

An excellent one-two punch closing number for 'Defenders' and I am simply infatuated with it at the moment. It's replay value might not last long considering that constant plays will deflate any value it has but I'll do my best to make good use of those hearings. :godot:

Take Out The Trash - They Might Be Giants

I love the entire album this song is on (The Else, for the record), even though it's entirely lacking in the accordian department.

listening through Of Montreal's The Sunlandic Twins.

i'm not too familiar with Of Montreal's work - this is the first album by them that i've listened to - but i really love their stuff. a few songs in particular stand out to me; "So Begins our Alabee", "The Party's Crashing Us" and "Oslo in the Summertime" being some that i absolutely love. their songs have a great blending of really eclectic abstract lyrics with wonderful vocals and cute indie-pop guitar and keyboard. i am in love with them.

Here's where to go next: The Gay Parade is fairly straight up "cute cute adorable bubblegum". Tracks like "Fun-Loving Nun" and "Nickee Coco" might be enough to emasculate even the most hardboiled of muscle men. It's also rather obnoxious. I find it a fun album and from there would be Coquelicot Asleep in the Poppies: A Variety of Musical Whatever Long Title, which is where they really fucking boost up the cute. But this time in a fairy-princess way and not a bubblegum way, which is way cuter. It's also fucking creepy. The album dips in and out of a surreal nightmare constantly and there is actually a spoken-word track that I found disturbing which actually ruined the album for me the first time. It was just really out of place and weird. It's still top stuff.

Satanic Panic in the Attic is more polished than their previous works and also completely drops the cutie bullshit in place of a more "hard" approach, which is still pretty gay for Of Montreal. "How Lester Lost His Wife" is probably one of their best FUCK YEAH~! tracks they ever did. They also experiment much more with musical approach and time-signatures, a style you have probably seen in The Sunlandic Twins. And this is where their best fucking album comes in

Hissing Fauna Are You the Destroyer? is just fucking fantastic and pretty up there as my favorite album of 2007, along with its accompaniment EP Icons Abstract Thee (which might be better than the album itself, no I am not lying). It is just incredibly phenomenal and considerably more emotional than anything else they've ever done and I could not stress how impressed I am with the fact that Kevin Barnes never really falls into "emo" territory. It is autobiographical and comes off as depressive and heartbroken, although never ever dipping into self-pity "woe is me" territory. This is helped by the fact that the music is just pumped-up fucking awesome fun-as-all-hell-get-out. The opening track is insane in how amazing it is.

Then comes the newest album Skeletal Lamping, which is... well you heard me talk about it that one day. It's just crazy. Not in a "lol so random" way, in a "oh god you poor man you will be stuck in this asylum for the rest of your life" kind of way. Because I think Kevin Barnes is not faking how messed up he sounds on these records. The music just throws the concepts of "consistency" and "time-signatures" out the window. The opening tracks starts with a harpsichord and an up-beat sex romp and then almost out of nowhere smashes into three minutes of Noise. It's incredibly inaccessible, but because of it it's kind of... fun and interesting really. The lyrics are also of note, as it seems like Kevin Barnes just went psychotic and started fucking everything, because that is all he sings about. Like seriously. Still, I honestly like the album a whole lot. Just expect that it will be insane.

I totally recommend listening to Hissing Fauna + the Icons EP first. If you want, you can stick them together. The EP takes place before track 7 "The Past Is A Grotesque Animal" (which is a very intense epic that I love to death, by the way), so just put Icons after track 6.

I have LOVED this song to bits upon hearing it two or three years ago, and easily my favorite song of all time. It has an effect on me that I can't really describe. You'd have to listen for yourself.

Yeah, you have me pretty much convinced that you listen to ridiculously awesome 80's music 24/7. Those songs work so well together. Lets see... here, try this one. It's a bit more somber than what you just posted, but maybe you will like it.

My favorite Yahoo Radio station is 1980s Alternative, so you might be correct in your assumption. I listen to 90s and more contemporary music as well in my car and when I'm in the mood at home. I just like the way many songs from the 80s sound. The Downtown Lights was a good song. I'll probably check out more from the artist.

Here's a few more from the Bangles. I think most people considered them a pop band, but they aren't the're more of a rock band.
