Siouxsie & The Banshees - Cities In Dust
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hMagNuhLkk

This song is actually about Mt. Vesuvius errupting and the ensuing chaos brought upon the city of Pompeii in 79 CE.

I think this song could be used to describe any post apocalyptic city that is in ruin. I can see the images of buildings covered in dust, the sun blocked by the dust particles in the air, a world in darkness indeed.

Points of Authority/99 Problems/One Step Closer - Jay-Z & Linkin Park

I finally bought the last two tracks from Collision Course today and I don't know why I held off; this song is a great mash-up of three great songs. Although, it's pretty much the "99 Problems" lyrics laid over the riffs to PoA and OSC.

The Logical Song by Super Tramp

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkyEtoMjzRE (not an official video, but it has the full song).

I love it because the lyrics are catchy, but I think very introspective as well. I think Super Tramp is a very under rated band. I never really see much about them or hear people talk about them as much as other band fromt he same era. Of course, maybe I'm just talking to wrong people about music (very possible).

Pork and Beans by Weezer

The Red Album really surprised me with them going back to their routes and everything, and it's probably a good thing that they took a break for a little while. Cuomo's lyrics always seem to talk to me; catchy, yet meaningful all the same. Weezer's a really talented band.

Spoiler: Lyrics
They say I need some Rogaine to put in my hair
Work it out at the gym to fit my underwear
Oakley makes the shades that transform a tool
You'd hate for the kids to think that you lost your cool

I'ma do the things that I wanna do
I ain't got a thing to prove to you
I'll eat my candy with the pork and beans
Excuse my manners if I make a scene
I ain't gonna wear the clothes that you like
I'm finally dandy with the me inside
One look in the mirror and I'm tickled pink
I don't give a hoot about what you think

Everyone likes to dance to a happy song (hey, hey)
With a catchy chorus and beat so they can sing along (hey, hey)
Timbaland knows the way to reach the top of the charts
Maybe if I work with him I can perfect the art

I'ma do the things that I wanna do
I ain't got a thing to prove to you
I'll eat my candy with the pork and beans
Excuse my manners if I make a scene
I ain't gonna wear the clothes that you like
I'm finally dandy with the me inside
One look in the mirror and I'm tickled pink
I don't give a hoot about what you think

No I don't care
I don't care

I'ma do the things that I wanna do
I ain't got a thing to prove to you
I'll eat my candy with the pork and beans
Excuse my manners if I make a scene

I love that song and the video is awesome too. It basically says that you should just do your own thing--who gives a damn if its not the mainstream--just be yourself and be proud. At least that's how I look at it.

i really, really like red

on first listen i was kinda "meh"
but on second and third i was like "this is pretty good; better than green and maladroit at least"
then by the fourth time through i was like "this is top-tier"

still, it doesn't surpass pinkerton or blue

Listening to "Princes of the Universe" by Queen. It's just one of those epic sounding movie songs that you can't help but like.

HANGING ON THE EEEEDGE OF TOMORROOOWW

i'm listening through Modest Mouse's This is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About. i love their newer stuff, but really, nothing compares to Long Drive. Dramamine is an incredible opener, and pretty much every track after that is top notch. every single song has some sort of common theme of problems in modern times, and the lush instrumentation and isaac brock's quavering vocals make it A+.

everyone forgets about Modest Mouse's earlier albums, but Long Drive is by far their best.

Travelling Without Moving - Jamiroquai

I know all we're doing is travelling, without moving, yeah yeah

I use to have that album (and yes, I know their technically CDs, but I can still call them albums if I want dammit).

I know its not from that one, but I really liked Canned Heat (listens to it as she types this sentence).

I first heard about them when they released 'Float On' 4 years ago and because of that I bought Good News for People Who Love Bad News but since then I haven't been intrested in there back catalogue.

you should look into it. Good News is good, but This is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About and The Empty Crowded West are two great, great albums. The Moon and Antarctica is supposed to be excellent as well, but I will admit that I've never listened to it.
