I finally got my virtual hands on a copy of one of the many Ink Spots greatest hits compilations. Can't believe how hard it was to actually find one, let alone an album.

It's really nice.

Yeah, that's an amazing Cash cover... it's hard to listen to, given the context of the song. I also like Cash's cover of Soundgarden's "Rusty Cage".

I've been getting kind of into this electronic duo called Mstrkrft. They seem a bit hit-or-miss, but sometimes their remixes are really amazing, to the point that they improve or completely reinvent the original material. Definitely some up and comers... I look forward to see how this group develops as they figure out their sound.

Dancey electro goodness.

The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevronia
Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov

The music is wonderful. Not as powerful as Tchaikovsky or Wagner, but not as light as Bizet or Verdi. And the music itself stays perfectly true to Rimsky-Korsakov's distinctive style.

Dark Come Soon by Tegan and Sara.
A song that really strikes a cord with me. It seems to be about depression and/or suicide, something I've been battling with for a long time. A very raw and heartfelt song, I'd recommend it to anybody who wants to look through the eyes or understand how a person thinks when they're suicidal.

Spoiler: Lyrics
Dark, you can't come soon enough for me
Saved from one more day of misery
Everything I love, get back from me now
Everyone I love, I need you now

Don't forget a million miles from me
Safe, and another day can pass by me
Everything I love, get back from me now
Everyone I love, I need you now
So what? I lied, I lie to me, too (come on, come on)
So what? I lied, I lie to me, too (come on, come on)
So what?

Hold out for the ones you know will love you
Hide out from the ones you know will love you, too

Right to the edge, I'm barely there
Slow to make my move, I'm almost there
Everything I say, I say to me first
Everything I do, I do to me first
(So what?)
So what? I lied, I lie to me, too
(So what?)
So what? I lied, I lie to me, too

Hold out for the ones you know will love you
Hide out from the ones you know will love you, too

Dark, you can't come soon enough for me

Today I got the Porcupine Tree album In Absentia... it's a beautiful album, the whole fucking thing is amazing.
Right now I'm listening to the song Blackest Eyes from the above mentioned album.

Spoiler: Blackest Eyes
A mother sings a lullaby to a child
Sometime in the future the boy goes wild
And all his nerves are feeling some kind of energy

A walk in the woods and I will try
Something under the trees that made you cry
It's so erotic when your make up runs

I got wiring loose inside my head
I got books that I never ever read
I got secrets in my garden shed
I got a scar where all my urges bled
I got people underneath my bed
I got a place where all my dreams are dead
Swim with me into your blackest eyes

A few minutes with me inside my van
Should be so beautiful if we can
I'm feeling something taking over me

Quite interesting lyrics.

I'm listening to Kate Bush Aerial... I find the first disc a bit boring, except for A Coral Room, which is one of her most beautiful songs. On the other hand, the second disc is one of her best efforts IMO.

By the way, it seems there are a lot of Maiden fans here :godot:.

Be forewarned, this is the most addictive thing I've heard in a while. It will get stuck in your head. It's a bit silly, but it's got all the pop bases covered; ridiculously awesome groove base, hip guitar twanging, atari-esque electro samples, string swells, over the top everyone-sings chorus. The music video is even pretty cool. It's just a damned fun track; not to be taken too seriously, just get your groove on and rock out. Definitely feels like one of those songs that I probably should have heard about before now, if I didn't live under a rock =P. I feel a bit late presenting such an immediately accessible song a year after it's release.

So anyway, the song is D.A.N.C.E. by the French house group Justice. Fans of Daft Punk will probably like this; I suspect it is relevant to their interests.

Do the dance. Do. The. Dance!

...Augh! It's stuck in my head again!!

anyway, i'm currently listening to Careless Breath by Exile. i first heard it in a PW tribute video called "Unforgettable Memories" which moved me almost to tears. and i NEVER get moved to tears. :acro: the song's in a foreign language (japanese maybe? i'm no good with languages :grey: ), but here's the lyrics with an english translation.

Spoiler: Careless Breath Lyrics (watch out, it's LOOONG)

ENGLISH:
You closed your eyes in hesitation
And I ran my fingers through your hair
Feeling your trembling breaths
My lips wandered, but eventually met yours

Time and time again since then
We've woven together the cracks of time
The future isn't promised
That's why we've just got to be earnest

A startlingly selfish breath
Everything started then
A fateful breath that will one day end
Knowing that
We were still drawn to each other

If I took off my watch
Would we have eternity? You whisper
I don't answer, but a sigh escapes my lips
My chest is wet with your tears

Then why did you touch me?
I don't even have an excuse
Then without blaming me
You suddenly disappeared from here

A startlingly selfish breath
Longing, drowning, hurting
A careless breath that lost everything
With every regret, the pain constricts me

I don't care if it's a lie...that's probably what you hoped
I wasn't able to return your feelings
I was cowardly, but if I had been able to answer then
Would we have continued?

An irregular breath my body remembered
I want to feel everything once more
Body heat is all I can believe
With an uncontrollable urge

A startlingly selfish breath
Longing, drowning, hurting
A careless breath that lost everything
With every regret, the pain constricts me

justice is excellent; i like DVNO and waters of nazareth the most off of cross. phantom jack is pretty good too, and so is stress.

i am listening to kazuki tomokawa. a progenitor of the acid-folk genre, his albums are entirely him performing on his acoustic guitar and singing in a very distinct vocal style. his first album, Yatto Ichi Mai Me, is the embodiment of that: it progresses from angry, screaming folk music to a calm melody to a traditional japanese ballad to angry screaming folk music again. if you want to give him a listen, see here, but be warned - that video may be a bit disturbing at parts.

Okay, I'm sold. It's hard as hell to find his stuff though. I've resorted to two random albums on Soulseek.

Would you perhaps not mind uploading some of what you feel is his best work on mediafire?

I'm uploading Yume and his newest 2008 album right now, but mediafire likes doing this thing where it instantaneously goes up to 20% and then acts like it freezes for a while before suddenly being at 60% and resuming.

Man, all of his stuff is just so damn powerful. Beautiful, borderline epic albums here.

EDIT: Accidentally closed the window, have to restart upload. Image

Carry Me Ohio by Sun Kil Moon
This is by and large THE most beautiful song I've ever heard. It always brings tears to my eyes. It's acquired taste for some people, I suppose, but I fell in love with this song the instant I heard it. The lead singer puts just enough emotion to make it genuine. The song itself appears to be about a woman who was in love with a man who didn't reciprocate the feeling, and eventually that woman killed herself (I seem to have a tendency for these kinds of songs, but I really didn't realize it until I read the lyrics).

Spoiler: lyrics
Sorry that
I could never love you back
I could never care enough
In these last days

Her tears fell on her pages
Found me out
On her words
I don't know what to do or say

Wading through
Warm canals and pools clear blue
Tuscarawas flow into
The great lake

Riding back
Where the highway met dead end tracks
The ground is now cement and glass
So far away

Heal her soul
And carry her my angel
Ohio

Green, green youth
What about the sweetness we knew?
What about what's good what's true
From those days?

Can't count to
All the lovers I've burned through
So why do I still burn for you
I can't say

Sorry that
I could never love you back
I could never care enough
In these last days

Heal her soul
Carry her my angel
Ohio

Children blessed
Gather round the home she will rest
So poor and cold in their midwest
Moon and sun

Flashes bringing on
My open eyes to lightning storms
The touch of mist
Felt soft, felt warm on my face

Graving dreams
M million miles ago you seem
The star that I just don't see
Anymore

Words long gone
Lost on journeys we walked on
Lost her voice is heard along the way

Sorry for
Never going by your door
Never feeling love like that anymore

Heal her soul
Carry her my angel
Ohio

If you can't figure it out I've been listening to Kazuki Tomokawa's albums nonstop as I've been getting them. Just to warn you though, some of his tags are fucked and you'll need to fix them, it just requires a few minutes of personal research.

Okay I finished DQN ELECTRONICS VOL 11. All of the anime samples were really cool when I was able to figure out where they all were, but the Nyan Nyan one just killed me. The album was actually really good, besides a few untalented DJs, the rest did a great job. The song titles were probably just as funny as the music. My favorites are "Final Fantasy 7 is an awful game", "SHIT SHIT SHIT (feat.shit)", "YOU ARE THE WORST FRIENDS EVER", and "where is my balls?". Did I mention one of the tracks is forty minutes long and consists of only IT'SALLABOUTJESUSALLABOUTJESUSALLABOUTJESUSALLABOUTJESUS.

Totally obnoxious, but some of the tracks were honestly really good. Anyways, I'm listening to Modest Mouse's The Moon and Antarctica now. The remastered/re-release edition, so it sounds absolutely gorgeous.

I'm browsing Last.fm right now because I'm bored. Right now the song playing is Drown by Smashing Pumpkins. It's pretty good.
