Monster by Meg and Dia I really love how they base many of their songs on books, and while there's speculation regarding whether this one was original or if it was inspired by East of Eden, it's still a great song nonetheless. It's a pretty cryptic song in the first place, but I believe it's in the point of view of an unborn child whose mother is in an abusive relationship and is eventually killed by her lover. ...That's what I gathered, anyway. |

Fraulein wrote: "Jumpin' Jack Flash" by the Rolling Stones I've always loved that song... No kidding, that's definitely in the book of my favorite songs and that's a lot of them. Right now, I am listening to Work by Jimmy Eat World. A really nice song about having a relationship with someone you work with, but since that's not exactly the most wise of decisions it ultimately leads to the deterioration of the relationship, but one wants to save it by starting a new life somewhere else, ie quitting their job, possibly because they were going to get in trouble or because of moral issues. right now listening to Crystal Castles (album) by Crystal Castles. excellent, excellent electronica. i love it. Magic Spells is my favorites song so far. the entire album is great, and i'm looking forward to listening to some of their remixes... oh, and reposting this because no one saw it :< Gozu wrote: i liked the thread on the old forums more :( it had all my music reviews in it
i'm currently listening to Keane's new single, Spiralling. It's a really excellent song, and i love love love the melody that they do with the screeching guitar. It's really one of the first times in recent memory that i've been infatuated by a single song rather than an entire album. listen here. oh, and i feel it is my duty as huge Boris fan to let you all know that i was sorely disappointed with Smile. it's just not on par with their older records, and not even their newer ones. were i to pick out something that i specifically didn't like about the album... i'd have to say it would be that it just didn't feel like i was listening to a Boris album; it felt more like a generic stoner metal album. i have heard tell that the japanese version is better, however, so once i give that a listen i will dutifully report back to this thread. their Smile tour that i saw a show of, however, was just awesome. the tracks they played off of Smile were just excellent live. i hope they tour again soon; seeing them twice just isn't enough for me :< oh also i totally just read your post about F♯A♯∞, HH. isn't the spoken word just fucking awesome? goddamn. that album leaves me in such a haze after i finish it that i leave the locked groove on for a good five minutes. |

Ahh yes Crystal Castles, very good from what i've heard, I currently have 2 songs on my Ipod and thats Magic Spells which of course is awesome and a remix of "White lies - Death" which makes the song darker but its amazing none-the-less if your interested Gozu there is a free link to the remix here: http://www.cannibalcheerleader.com/2008 ... n-age.html Here is the proper song they remixed: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=LTh9IuSTOY0 :) |

The Trooper - Iron Maiden ARGH! To borrow a phrase from Cracked, "Why is this song so terrifyingly inspirational?" The galloping main riff, the epic soaring chorus, the killer "battleground" solo, it's all present and undeniably kickass! |

F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. by Fall of Troy Can't really tell what the song's about, I think I read somewhere that it's supposed to be someone telling their lover that they're going to die soon. I honestly don't know. The remix is basically a more commercial mix of the original. Spoiler: Lyrics |

Some of you are doing an excellent job in the topic. I just want to remind everyone that we don't want this locked. So PLEASE, please post something of substance along with what you're listening to :) This isn't the Berry Big Circus, that's dead now. So it has to be a discussion. XD So right now, I'm listening to Made for TV Movie by Incubus. That was possibly my favourite song, off one of their greatest albums in my opinion, the style is... just awesome. XD And I'm just so in love with the rock genre. Who else is? XD EDIT: Post #1337. I kick ass. XD |

Naotaro Moriyama's "Sakura". This is probably the greatest song from Japan that I've ever heard. This is such a legendary song that it's actually sung in high school graduation ceremonies. http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=qQeigIshyiI EDIT: Oh, and also a hit song from last summer, GreeeeN's "Ai Uta". This song is unbearably catchy, but it still feels good to listen to. I loved singing this song in karaoke places. http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=3PBz-ExCFnE |

Hold On, Im Comin' - The Temptations Alot of the Tempts' music I listen to are their hits from '63-'87. But recently I bought one of their CD's recorded just last year. I have to say they still sound good now like they did '20-'40 years ago. The Temptations have gone through several lineup changes, and on music and video sites, some comments on their recent songs and videos of their songs (recent as in 2000-present) are flames simply because they dont have the classic members like David Ruffin or Eddie Kendricks anymore. Sometimes I wonder if those people even bother to listen to the music, because they sound great even though only one founding member is still with them! |

I enjoyed both those tracks you posted, Johnny rainbow. Moriyama has a wonderful singing voice... such a great range, he really hits those highs. You can really tell he's giving it everything in that recording; his voice starts to break a bit towards the end =). The track by Greeeen was pretty fun too... sort a relaxed, chilled out feel good vibe. This is one of my favorite tracks off the recent DJ Shadow album "The Outsider". There's a great sort of old school soul/funk vibe on this track... apparently the vocalist is completely unknown; DJ Shadow mixed the vocal tracks from a warm-up tape he discovered in an old recording studio of a man singing along as he tuned his guitar. This is what makes DJ Shadow's tracks so unique; they are almost entirely composed of arranged and edited samples of generally unknown music. He essentially reworks bits and pieces of songs until he creates something entirely new. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9kxcLD_33A |

Perfect Exceeder by Mason vs Princess Superstar. It doesn't have a particular meaning other than to be a catchy club mix song. I actually heard this played a lot at bars in Cyprus but had no idea what song it was at the time. The lyrics are a bit inappropriate, though...I guess. Spoiler: Objectionable lyrics? In my court records? It's more likely than you think. ._. As for grammar, those are the lyrics AFTER heavy editing. |
