Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I just used the search function to find a Lady Gaga thread and...there were none?!
This MUST be remedied. (To be honest, I'm surprised one hasn't been made to begin with!) :adrian:

I've gotta say that I'm totally guilty of being one of her fans -- her music is THE biggest guilty pleasure for me, haha! I see her music as a kind of intelligent pop, seeing as though her songs, while merely infectiously catchy on the surface, tend to be cleverly crafted metaphors and statements. Then there's the matter of her fashion, of course... The woman is a never-ending fountain of surprises, you've got to hand her that!

I know she's not everyone's cup of tea, but I quite like her. :pearly:

Thoughts? Favorite songs?

Pretty, um... okay, I guess? I don't actually like her music, but I don't hate it. I do think she doesn't know how to handle her public image, but she sure does know what "catchy" means.

Though you just don't play Lennon's paino. Not even fucking McCartney would dare.

I bought The Fame about a week ago. Several listens later (along with a few Youtube videos of "Telephone" and "Bad Romance") and I'm won over by her immaculate voice, sparkly hooks, and shallow lyrical matter. Now if only her label would release an Explicit version of The Fame Monster on CD...

As a musician, she is incredible. She is much better than she presents herself to be in her music videos and songs, but during live events or that youtube vid of her pre-Gaga, she is amazing. I think she once said she passed an offer to be accepted into Julliard?

As a pop artist, she is still enjoyable. A lot of her songs are catchy, different from a lot of other pop songs I've gotten used to, and bits and pieces of her incredible singing can still be heard in her songs. Speechless is when I first started to notice that she had an incredible voice.

Lady Gaga, she's probably one of my favorite female artists. My favorite song from her is Bad Romance, it just makes you want to move.
I am also surprised there is no topic about her yet, she's very unique, which makes her stand out from the other artists.

Speaking of standing out, her fashion is very creative. Sure you don't see it everyday, but credit should be given to her for her bravery and creativity.

I will reveal a chip in my "hate everything" armour to reveal that I actually think Lady Gaga is a good artist and an interesting person. Bad Romance is probably one of my favourite non-indie songs, aswell. I think it's catchy, the melody's cool and the rhythm is awesome. I honestly don't understand all the bru-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha is about this John Lennon piano thing. I just don't think simply because a piano was played by a deceased pop legend doesn't immediately make it unplayable. Thousands of amazing concert pianists, legends and icons of concert piano can and have shared a piano with many other musicians.

Lady Gaga is a music god. I love everything she's done but Bad Romance, Monster and Summerboy are my faves <3

Are you seriously saying that you believe Lady Gaga can be compared to John Lennon in any way? And at the same time reducing Lennon to the words "deceased pop legend"?

I admit it, Gaga's music is good. Not my cup of tea, but she does know how to do popular music. But she's nothing close to John Lennon, or a hundred other artists (including "amazing concert pianists, legends and icons of concert piano").

Besides, it's a matter of respect. If you're a popular artist that surfaced a year ago (and probably won't be remembered in 45 years' time), would you dare play the piano of easily one of the 5 most succesful and influential artists of all time? There are two reasons why you would dare do it: adoration for that artist or extreme egocentrism. And believe me, if Gaga were that big of a Lennon fan, her music would show it.

Other than the whole Lennon thing, as I said, her music is very good, she's an incredible singer, and responsible for one of the catchiest songs ever, Bad Romance.

@looby: Fashion. She was clearly high while choosing most of her attires. Her clothes remind me a lot of Amy Winehouse, for some reason. Also, her Alejandro video was just wrong. Though bitch was not the correct word, but I can't find a suitable one. She clearly can't handle her public image, that's what I had in mind when I wrote that.

Hey, now, The Lady has only two album to her name yet she's a multi-million dollar and record sensation. I'm sure everyone will be remembering her 45 years from now as much as Madonna or Michael Jackson. She's practically a legend-in-training.

I dunno, sales =/= influence. If she is remembered in 45 years' time, unless she keeps getting better and better throughout her career, it will be only due to popularity, not influence. Now, as I said, that's basing myself on what she's achieved so far, without counting any potential future achievements. She hasn't been around for long enough for us to say that she'll be this succesful the rest of her career.

Lolumadbro?

It's a fucking piano. It's not like she pissed all over his grave. I never knew about these unspoken rules about musical instruments. Honestly, a good musician can play any example of their instrument well. Instruments aren't supposed to be encased in glass and marvelled at- that's what the music is. Instruments are meant to be played.

But anyway, I'll talk no more on the matter.

I can't say that I'm a fan of Lady Gaga, but I'm also not one to start making fun of fans.

The first time I heard Poker Face on the radio, I thought it was quite catchy, and actually enjoyed it for a while. When our radio at work played it 14 times in one shift (8 hours, I'm not kidding.), and repeated every time I worked, I started to loathe that song. Repeat process for other Gaga songs. It's a "like" until radio ruins it situation.

So yes, as a person/musician, Lady Gaga is great. However, my musical interests were never strong on her type of music to begin with, so I'll give her extra props for interesting me with her music.

I, although I am ashamed to admit it, am partial to the odd bit of Lady Gaga.
She has an amazing voice, and her outfits are...Interesting...I have to say that Poker Face is one of my favourites from her. I also like Telephone.
Her songs have hidden meanings to them, I agree there are metaphors in her song-each song tells a story.
I would love to see her with no makeup more often like she was in the Bad Romance video at one point. She cakes herself in everything, I want to see her natural face.

Yeah, it would be interesting to see her without makeup, personally I thought she looked great without all that makeup in those bits in Bad Romance.

Well, I think she will be remembered. She's already very popular, and she's still writing songs. Sure she's only been around for a little while, but she hasn't stopped yet.

Lady Gaga is a legend! Tied with Christina Aguilera, she's my favorite female solo singer. She is creative, lovely and talented. She is really creative and bonkers in fashion, sometimes it's really funny. She's funny and sweet in interviews and always expresses herself. She's made a great influence in music and fashion as it stands.

Her music videos are always fun and experimental. A third album's been comfirmed, so expect a leak from now till next year. I'm still gonna buy it though.

I like some of her unreleased tracks like Vanity, the Red and Blue demo tracks, and No Way. I love all her songs from both her albums. :)

It doesn't matter, cause I watched a video of her before Gaga in one of those prank reality shows.

I like her songs because they're really catchy, but I don't really find what's so amazing about the lyrics. They sound like any other pop song on the radio these days. The thing I really like about her, besides the catchy songs, are her music videos. She makes watching music videos actually interesting and whenever a new song by her comes out, I'm always anxious to see her new music video :D

I haven't heard all of her songs, but my favorites are Bad Romance and Alejandro. My least favorite has to be Telephone.

She really has a beautiful voice, I just wish she'd use it more often. Same with her piano skills.

I love GaGa and her music. It's great to wake up to at 6 a.m. on your way to a Saturday morning swim meet 3 hours away. I'm one of those people who couldn't pick a favorite to save her eyes, but I'm partial to Summerboy, Starstruck, and Just Dance, among others.
I used The Fame (song, not entire album) in my Macbeth project for English, and my friend has told me that Bad Romance is totally my theme, because of.. well, yeah.

Not only is GaGa's music great, but her outfits are always interesting. It's fun to see what she's wearing, just for kicks and giggles. It's interesting enough that I made my FB status "A kid in a candy store is like Lady GaGa in a fabric shop." :maya:
