As far as I know there's a trilogy planned...

Completed it last night with all 120 puzzles done and maximum picarats. Still got a few of the bonus puzzles to do, and need to get online for the downloadable ones. Really enjoyed it, and looking forward to the next one.

Even inspired the current avatar <---- as you can see ;)

Last I checked, and I just double-checked, this game is not scheduled for a UK release ever, so it has to be imported from the US. The import fees refer to the shipping fee and the possible UK Customs duty fee.

Otherwise you could easily get the game for £15 - half the typical price of a DS game in the UK.
Does we even do these things anymore?

Shipping costs like £1 unless you're stupid and pay tons more just to get it fast, and I have never had customs fees on any game I've imported.

I order most of my US games from Tronix or VG+, who will mark down Customs for you if you ask. A pity if there's no current UK release date for the game considering it's got a British protagonist! :maggy:

Oh~ Professor Layton's a really interesting game. Hahahaha, though seeing as I'm not really good with puzzles, I'm still in the midst of trying to finish it. But then again, I got distracted with Phoenix Wright so I need to continue playing...

Must remember to play later : D

Oh, and I wasn't talking about Ethed or anyone here, just the dudes in youtube, who are asking the rom etc.

Edit: And I wasn't saying Ethed or anyone here does use R4 for illegal games. But if you do, you can kiss my ass. :yuusaku:

First of all, I bought the game (I love owning originals), but one thing - I couldn't care less if people downloaded it while waiting for their product to arrive. I played an online music game years ago where some songs you had to purchase before playing them. As you could only play the game online, an emulator soon appeared, and people freaked out. I hated the thing (I was a moderator of their forums at the time), lots of people stopped buying songs until the company encoded differently, but others bought the songs, then downloaded them and played offline. And I don't believe in Kant in this world nor do I support piracy.

Different story, I guess, but point stands.

Finished the game weeks ago btw, now have a crush on Layton.

Sorry, bad wording, I just suck in English. With that last chapter I was trying to say that I'm definitely NOT accusing you. I hope I didn't make you feel bad or anything. So no hard feelings? :sadshoe:

I agree, it's ok to download the game, IF you're still buying it. (But that's offtopic)

i LOVE Prof. Layton...
i beat all 130(?) puzzles, 100% done with game, except for the hint coins...
but i hated the few puzzles that were VERY hard... like the chocolate puzzle(i was sick and couldnt stand up without falling), and the one puzzle with the 5 largest stars...
it was (usually) easy mostly due to my MASSIVE reasoning and thinking skills because of PW and reading...

I thought the five stars one was easy (got it in about 5 seconds)... now the ball and slidy piece puzzles, I've never liked those types (and the Rescue the Princess 1 was bad enough!).

And I totally saw the "Dahlia is a robot" thing coming by the time I found the second or so journal page. Now the entire VILLAGE being robots, that I didn't expect.

Also, Violet, Dahlia, Flora... I see what you did there, Nintendo. :jake:

Now I just need to find the last five or so puzzles I can't seem to find anywhere. Not including the bonuses.

If the puzzles you are lacking (check the roster in the suitcase) are in the 101-120 range then they are the "hidden" ones. I actually got to the end and found I'd missed one on my travels, so I went back to the village (before entering the last bit) and found it in about 5 minutes of searching.

But seriously, there is GOOD NEWS for EU fans! ONM have announced that it's coming out this Spring, so it's probably going to be out in April or May (probably may). I'm not sure whether to import it or not, it depends on how much money I've got (If I can't afford the UK price I'll import it, Play Asia makes the importing costs very small!).

This game.

THIS GAME THIS GAME THIS GAME.

HOLY SHIT THIS GAME IS AWESOME.

... Ahem. Yes, anyway. I beat it a couple days ago, and I have everything unlocked, including music, the animated movies, and all the puzzle rooms. :D

Also, if anyone wants to know, the "Secret Door" is concept art.

Now, to discuss the plot!

Spoiler: The entire game
Simon's death was the first shock, since I suspected the first to die would be Dahlia or Gordon. I kinda hoped it would be Gordon, actually, since he irks me. Makes me kinda sad, I liked him. Oh well, if ya watch the credits, he returns. Also, why did Don Paolo want to steal him? That was Simon that fell out of his copter...

Next, the cogs. I knew for a fact that Ramon was a robot, and maybe he murdered Simon and lost a cog. First thing to run threw my mind after that theory was "Greeeeaaat. We have a murderous robot on the loose."

Then, we have THE GREAT DON PAOLO HOLY CRAP. The man reminds of a balding Dan Backslide. "CONFOUND THAT PROFESSOR LAYTON! HE DRIVES ME TO DRINK!"

Also, Flora is cyute beyond reason. Huge eyes, pretty hair, petite figure... Reminds me of my sister.

Also, I'm a total Layton/Flora shipper. He made her laugh again. :3

Also, I has a crush on Layton. I stop for British gentlemen in top hats.

@DreamDelight - I'd better go buy myself a hat then heh...

Spoiler:
But indeed I wasn't expecting a "murder" in the game, it didn't seem like the sort of game that would feature one. Though about halfway through following the discovery of the cogs and putting the early clues together, I figured out that some, maybe all the villagers were robots. My next task was trying to figure out who is still human.

IS anyone still human in the village aside from the resident fixer, or are they all robots? Even Matthew the servant?

The ironic thing is, Luke is the one who actually says he never takes his hat off. Put the hat rack in his room at the inn if you don't believe me.

And I found a contradiction!

Spoiler: Ending
In the Mysteries section, when you solve The Vanishing Crank, it states "Bruno's intent was to keep the professor in the village long enough to determine his worthiness as a guardian for Flora." What's the problem with this? Professor Layton solves this mystery after completing the first puzzle of the tower on the first floor, long before he discovers Flora is the "Golden Apple."

Also, Peachi is awesome with non-PW comics too.
