^ yeah my b'day is in September!

And in general September is a Layton month. I mean last year we got TDB/PB and this year TED (and possibly TLTT! :D).

Oh, and you know what else I find interesting?
1. This is getting released on DVD before Japan (at least I think)
2. It's getting released on Blu-ray. :D

I finally played a bit of Layton on Saturday.

It's so much better with the sound down, their English accents are fucking irritating.

Luke's UK version in general is just craptastic.

Also. Today's my birthday. I'm 42 years old.

Is anyone else getting the nagging feeling that The Last Time Travel will be announced during E3?

I mean, if you analyze it, Nintendo CANNOT NOT publish Layton 3:

According to VGChartz,

-"Curious Village" is the 16th best-selling Nintendo DS game of all time, with 1.1 million in Japan, 1.11 million in the Americas, and 2.45 million in the rest of the world, adding up to a total of 4.56 million units sold.
-"Diabolical Box" is the 28th best-selling Nintendo DS game of all time, with 0.92 million in Japan, 0.52 in the Americas, and 1.67 million in the rest of the world, adding up to 3.10 million units sold.

This is, with just two games, 7.66 million units. That's an average of 3.83 million per game, which is a pretty damn lot. And every time a new game in the series is released, the other games in that same series get sales boosts.

Now, let's analyze the relation between Japan and out-of-Japan (Americas + Others) sales:

-Curious Village = 1.1 million in Japan / 3.56 million outside of Japan (1 Japan unit = 3,23 units in the rest of the world)
-Diabolical Box = 0.92 million in Japan / 2.19 million outside of Japan (1 Japan unit = 2,38 units in the rest of the world)
And the other two games, which of course have only been released in Japan so far:
-Last Time-Travel = 0.82 million in Japan
-Specter's Flute = 0.67 million in Japan.

So, as you can see, even if sales have decreased every time a new game releases (also considering that the best-selling one, Curious Village, has been out there for almost 3 years in Japan, and 2 years outside of it, while the other ones have been out for less), the game sells outside of Japan at least twice of what it sold in Japan. Specially in Europe, where Curious Village is the 11th best-selling DS game, and Diabolical Box (or Pandora's Box) is the 20th.

All in all, Layton games are absolute hits outside of Japan, even more than inside it, and Nintendo must have learned this: I can't find my source, but I'm VERY sure that Diabolical Box was the 1st or 2nd best-selling DS game of 2009.

So it's pretty obvious that Last Time-Travel is being localized, and like last year's Diabolical Box, a trailer will be shown at E3, and it will be released in Fall of this year. And we get a new Layton game a year.

The skeptic in me says it might not come out this year, but I hope you're right...,
I never doubted for a minute that PL3 would come out in NA. It would just be cruel to deny us North American fans the ability to play the first trilogy at the very least.

I'm hoping that they show something about it at E3, but I find that Nintendo doesn't really give much info about what they're planning, ever (and their E3's have been pretty lackluster as of late).

I have a big event near Salt Lake City over the weekend. Guess where I'm staying!

Probably more interestingly, Christopher Robin Miller, the man behind the sexy Layton voice, apparently works at an improv comedy club in SLC proper. I'll let you know if he's funny. :keiko:

Tell me if that man can actually emote!

I know for sure that Time Travel will be localized. No doubt in my mind. They have the "Ticket to Time Travel" code, right? They can't NOT localize it.

Though I'm skeptical about E3. For PL2 we got 6 months' notice, and the trailer about 2 1/2 months before the release. We already knew a lot about the game's release before E3. If anything, the only thing I'm expecting Layton-wise is giving us a vague time frame, or a "hey, it IS gonna come out". I'm not going to be disappointed if there's no trailer or anything.
No, correction. I WILL be disappointed. I just won't be surprised.

And if Legal's voice sucks, I'm going to punch a kitten. That man had better be sexy, dammit! I won't let them pull an Anton on us!
Come on, you can't deny you were surprised when you heard that womanman's deep manry voice, amirite?

So yeah. That's how it all happened, and that's all I've got to say. :larry2:
Can you handle us? So cool, baby, scandalous.

Baha XD Well, it wasn't IMAX, and it wasn't dubbed either - subbed - but it was still HELLA awesome.

Probably the most awesome part was sitting in an audience of people who are just as obsessed with Layton as I am who got all the side-jokes and laughed every time the absolutely ADORABLE li'l Luke said "I'm an English Gentleman-to-be!" <3

Oh, and there was the music. THE MUSIC. It was mostly remixes from the games that caused me to have total spazz attacks, especially the puzzle themes that played whenever Layton was having his 'logic' moments. And Layton's theme, whenever it played. And Descole's theme.

Remi was absolutely awesome - just showing up and kicking ass whenever she needed too. The 'eternal diva' - Jenis - wasn't entirely useless 'damsel in distress' either, so that was cool. Flora, Chelmey and Don Paolo were barely in it - just tiny cameos at the beginning. Oh, and Jean Descole (Not De Squall, and pronounced Des-cole not De-sco-lay like I'd thought) was brilliant.

It did get kinda random around two thirds of the way through, after the mystery had been explained, and there was this strange part set to a disco remix of Layton's theme which just stood out so much because of how un-Laytonish the music style was.

Trying to say as little about the plot as possible so as not to spoil =P
All in all, it was epic and super-highly recommended. And Luke was sooo cute ~<3

And the "Luke is sooo cute" bit, I find him just plain creepy as he sounds like a FREAKIN' GIRL.
Okay, I know he's played by a woman, but she didn't even try to sound boyish.

Regarding "The Unwound Future", I like it. It's a gentlemanly title for a gentlemanly game with the gentlemanliest main character... and Luke.

"Professor Layton and the Unwound Future" sounds cool, too. Also, "PLatUF" is pronounced "plat-oof" in my head.

But that aside, eeee Luke! <3

I actually find myself preferring the English dubs, perhaps I am just too used to the faux British accents. But I agree that Luke does sound too girly in Jap, which really confuses me. I don't need to be confused more! >_<;;

Ah, looking forward to the Unwound Future... and Legal Luke.... except I suspect it will make me sin more. /sob

Does anyone know if Eternal Diva has been subbed by any groups or already licensed?

IMO, American Luke is much, MUCH worse, actually. This may just be me, but I find Luke's irritating voice easier to bear with when he sounds five and halfway cute, not ten and a smarmy cunt.
