3 save files, as in the Layton games. No, you cannot skip around in a chapter like in DD. The chapters are broken up into sections with save points, but you can't jump back to a previous one to play it again, unless you choose to start a new game.

(Yep, a spoiler because of one word), so how does this whole stuff work in London?

Spoiler:
The same tech is used in London. Since the magic doesn't actually start until Layton and Luke have been affected by the ink gas, for all we know, Darklaw and her gang could have been hiding jetpacks, turbo fans, and flamethrowers somewhere, and they'd all be paid for by Labrelum Inc.

The second special episode explains a bit more about the park, in case you haven't watched it already.

You mentioned this before sometime Rubia, that the playability of Dual Destinies is definitely better, and I definitely agree now that I've played both. I keep my completed save-game around for the DLCs and bonus content but I was trying to skip text to get a save for the prologue trial and one for the first witch trial, but then I can't save midway and resume... I think PLvsPWAA is one of those games where you either replay it from start to finish or just leave it after playing it once. It's definitely not as easy to re-experience the best moments it has as it was in Dual Destinies, but at the same time it encourages you to play the game from start to finish instead of constantly replaying the most "fun" parts -- something that I've felt would make me get tired of games I've played in the past. :payne:

Dual Destinies isn't better at all! It's just a collection of all the typical characters and a few Mary Sues. That's NOT good!

Could you perhaps read the whole post, before objecting? He said nothing about the story or characters - just about playability.

True, but the investigation segments are annoying to get through when you want to replay the trials. (Sad to say, I probably won't ever get to splitting hairs over localization differences for this game, since I don't have a script at ready, and I can't jump around like with DD.)

You don't have to keep a completed game save for the DLC and bonuses; they're automatically unlocked when you complete it the first time. But you can keep it for access to the climax of the final trial or to the last place you can find hint coins.

I've heard plenty of critique for DD, but this is the first time I've heard of there being more than one Mary Sue.

Who are they, by the way?

Like Nearavex says, I was merely talking playability (as in "which game is easiest to pick up and play, and get right to the point of the gameplay) and it is Dual Destinies because you can select individual parts of each case, e.g. go straight to a cross-examination or skip the boring part where nothing interesting happens during an investigation.

Don't get that wrong. I love PLvsPWAA far more than Dual Destinies. Story-wise I think DD is as bad as AAI, which means pretty darn bad, although I will say I thought DD had potential whereas AAI didn't, but that's for a completely different topic I think.

Spoiler: Ending
It's confirmed in the game that Labyrinthia has existed for some years and the inhabitants have supposedly been staying there since then without leaving, so it's quite impossible.

It is not an eyepiece; it is a gem-studded monocle dressed up to look like half of a masquerade eye mask.

And now I ask, where can I get one?

No mini-games. The trunk only holds the game's "Mysteries", "Story" (which is all of the journal entries from loading a save file), key items separate from evidence stored in the Court Record, a puzzle index, and the usual "Save" and "Options" icons. However, at the bottom of the screen, there are the 16-bit chibi avatars for the characters currently present. They're the same as the ones you can see when checking the map.

Spoiler: For Professor Layton too
It depends on what you mean by "submit answer" puzzles. Technically, the majority of the puzzles in the game require you to hit the submit button to confirm your answer. If you meant like you write a number down and then press submit, then yes, there is.

Battle of Wits. It truly is a puzzle, but instead of losing Picarats, you're fighting someone else. A great example is in the third Professor Layton game, the Unwound Future (Lost Future), Future Luke challenges the professor to a Battle of Wits with poker cards, in which the Professor has to find a certain suit according to a rule. Another example; the Professor has a Battle of Wits with Bronev in the Azran Legacies game using... er, poker chip things. Or were they coins? I dunno. Anyway. In PL vs GS, there is indeed a Battle of Wits type-thing; when the Storyteller attempts to kill Layton with the suits of armor, and the Professor has to solve a series of puzzle-type problems in order to defeat the knights.

It is not an understatement to say that the cameras in this game love to move around. Everyone, and I mean everyone can get a close-up - in court or otherwise, but mostly in court.

All the DLC is on cart DLC. The game isn't even trying to hide it.

The interface text is "The extra-game-content key will be downloaded via the internet." and "Download the key?". The only way to be clearer is to flat out write "The DLC content is already on the cart".

A LOT. There are a minimum of three Hint Coins for every area you can Search, so doing the math (and adding the 30 Hint Coins you start with), you get... uh... a lot. Yeah. Someone else do the math...

I found every one in the game, but I also used a few along the way. I'm guessing around 75 in all. That's actually less than the usual Layton games.

Edit: Rather, less than the games in the 2nd trilogy. The first one was pretty stingy with them sometimes.
