Plus he was a major reason the Hazakura Temple incident and the Sprocket case were solved. Basically, if there's any case that involves a sophisticated plan and Larry Butz is within a three-mile radius of the incident, there's pretty much a guarantee that he'll either throw a monkey wrench into the plan or inadvertently reveal a major aspect of how it works.

That's how it pretty much works with every murder mystery in media. Danganronpa, Ace Attorney, Detective Conan, it all relies on coincidences, whether for the case being solved or the case itself.
