Dang it, Adrian, that can have so many meanings I'm not sure which one you mean. XD
I guess he was going for the best curvature or something.

In the intro movie to the English version, does Nick's locket have a picture of teenage!Trucy or littlegirl!Trucy?

Teenaged Trucy. And i think it's her artwork from AA4.

Yes, it is her artwork from AA4, if you look more closely. At least I recognized that.

I just want to know...

NO SPOILERS PLEASE. A SIMPLE YES OR NO.

So I am going to pick up the new PW game (dual dest) and I hear the that DLC takes place before the main game.

Since I am a new comer and all (not to the series, but to the 3ds game)...story-wise, I should play the DLC first, then tackle the main game, yes? I do not want to get to the conclusion to the game then have to go to a point before it...I like a good flow to my games (an example would be the Kasumi DLC in Mass 2...when she came out I was already done with the game...kinda wished she came out WITH the game).

So what are your thoughts. The DLC doesn't do anything to break the timeline of events, yes?

The DLC takes place between Case 2 and 3 and doesn't break the timeline. If you were going to play it, that's when I'd do it

"-san" is the usual polite way to address someone. He refers to those two without an honorific since he doesn't need to. They're good friends.

Bonus tidbit: Sometimes it's crucial to add an honorific to Nick and Polly's Jap names because people can get confused over what someone is saying.

That's weird. It's hard to imagine Apollo respecting a turd like Wocky and calling him, "Kitaki-san"

Bonus Question: What did you mean by the bonus tidbit? Are you saying that Phoenix's name can be confused with the pun on his name in the Japanese version, causing people to read the pun but not the name?

Sometimes it would be like words like "surprise" or "understand" at random moments.

There's no confusion when people read the text, but there can be when people talk with each other about stuff, or listen to voice dramas / radio talks / etc.

But it does make for some funny fanart to see Apollo's face on the Mood Matrix.

Ah, they can expand the Mood Matrix with a fifth emotion for GS6... Understanding!

I just didn't know if the game was "dumbed down" for the English audience the same way Nintendo does for other titles :pearl:

Well, that (non-)difficulty issue wasn't because of localization. The Japanese version plays just as the English one does, except with less text and more appropriate uses of ellipses - by which I mean they feel more "natural" and evenly paced in the context - and of course, overall better voice acting, imo.

Post subject:  Re: "I just want to know one thing" - Dual Destinies Edition

Is it just me or did they only start over-punctuating stuff since AJAA? PLvPWAA also has excessive dot abuse. Sometimes you get textboxes that go:
".........Hm......?
What's the matter........."

I think the point is to make the dots make silence when you let the text-boxes scroll but the text speed is so uneven and slow that I can hardly believe that's the case :/

Post subject:  Re: "I just want to know one thing" - Dual Destinies Edition

It does seem to be a lack of re-adjustment of text speed. It doesn't feel that bad in previous games because the text scrolls more quickly. The problem is there in PLvsAA too.

Because it sounds better than "Phoenix and Apollo's Family Spat", or "Blackquill's Troubles of Babysitting"... though I admit I would have bought them just to see how they turned out.

Bad player Yeah. That's probably it.

Rubia I'd buy those too. Although that doesn't explain why they chose to call it Dual Destinies instead of those, and not... I don't know, some other name.

You know what? You're right. They should have called this game "Ace Attorney Triple Trouble: Friendship is Legal".

Okay, to actually answer your question, there are multiple reasons. Long story short, they all have to do with parallels between any two of the main cast of this game. Go ahead, pick any two.

Post subject:  Re: "I just want to know one thing" - Dual Destinies Edition

You're right. It should! It'd actually fit this game *gets horrible flashbacks of the final speech preceding the triple objection*

Shudder.

Oh! The Great Nine-tails and Klavier?

Author:  Rubia Ryu the Royal [ Tue Apr 29, 2014 7:19 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: "I just want to know one thing" - Dual Destinies Edition

Both are stars of the media. One fell from public pressure, the other retained his spotlight. Then, in a wild turnabout of events, the Great Nine-tails' secret was revealed and he became more popular than ever. Meanwhile, Klavier became an actor in a mock trial, lost his stage props, and was even an errand boy for the defense... and then he returned to his place on stage... in the corner.

Truly tales of epic proportions.

Dual Destinies refers to the "two truths" from the last case and is mostly referring to the Apollo vs Phoenix confrontation.

Dual Destinies can refer to the Apollo/Phoenix thing but I saw it as Phoenix/Simon considering they
Spoiler:
started the Dark Age of the Law

It can also refer to Athena/Simon

Author:  linkenski [ Tue Apr 29, 2014 8:40 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: "I just want to know one thing" - Dual Destinies Edition

Yes, it is most definitely Athena/Simon it mainly refers to because they're the key figures to the backstory in GS5 (it's hinted so early in the game that I shouldn't need to spoiler-tag it)

But I guess Janet Hsu and her localization team were just clever as usual and decided it should be "Dual Destinies" because of how many meanings it can refer to with the story of GS5, because all those examples are pretty much valid guesses.

Spoiler:
The "fake" one was trying to rehabilitate Simon? I'm... confused.

But it's probable that he knew. Phantom killed him and took his place only one year prior to this game. We don't know any more than that, but it's implied throughout the game that he and Simon had a good combo going for a long time.

Bad phrasing on my part. Sorry about that. I was wondering if Simon ever met the real Fulbright. If he only met the fake one, then the fake one was pretending to be interested in rehabilitating him. The second half of your answer answered my question

It's sad, though. Somewhere out there is a man who truly cared about Simon and wanted to rehabilitate him but the Phantom killed him. The Fulbright we know was probably exactly the same as the real one, personality wise

You know, I was replaying this and when I got to the final case again I stumbled over the fact that I don't quite get the intro of it because of one thing...
Spoiler: Final case
The story likes to refer to the moon as symbolism all the time... I get that Apollo's friend was an astronaut like Starbuck who wanted to go to the moon, then there's the moon rock and then there's Athena's japanese name at least, which has something to do with moon - that is why Apollo's eye has the moon in its reflection in the intro...
but I just... I don't really get it? Can someone explain it to me, what is the significance of the moon" in Dual Destinies? Is it something that's culturally common in Japan?

It's the biggest thing that ties Athena to Sailor Moon?

No, it's not anything culturally exclusive. I think they just wanted to give this game a theme of "space" or "the great beyond" or something. This game has launched the series far into space in more ways than one. Not to mention, it's also the one with the most references to big-name anime that I can pick out than in any previous installment. Even the official art book had anime-like spoofs of the game.

...Then again, considering which anime is most popular in Japan right now... maybe it's only to be expected that this game turned out so silly.
