Athena herself points out the meaning behind the name. I wonder how the localization team manages to relate the Penrose triangle/steps to the Rubik's cube on the building...

Too bad they didn't record enough footage to show us the demo trailer. We would have known Potdino's name.

Well, if they alter the spelling, it might as well be "Poht'deeno". That's one of the many "Khura'inizations" I've made so far (I'll spoiler tag the list)

Spoiler: Khura'inizations
Potdino -> Poht'deeno
Druk -> Dhru'uk
Inga Karukul -> Ingh Kahlkuhr (Makes it sound more like a male name)
Amara Shigataal -> Amara Shiga'tahl
Garan Shigataal -> Gahr'an Shiga'tahl

There's no way that will fit in the name box. But at least it's not "Nhahyhuthah Sahahdmhahdhi".

Speaking of which, did you see the update on Janet Hsu's blog? She explains why they went with so many hs and apostrophes.

Retinz' name is Roger Retinz.
From Apollo and Nahyuta's profiles:
"Next time we’ll take a look at the third and newest member of the Wright Anything Agency, the spunky Athena Cykes, and the egocentric producer from Take-2 TV, Roger Retinz! See you then and stay tuned for the upcoming release of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice coming September 8 for Nintendo 3DS!"

Is there supposed to be one? I think only the fact that Retinz is like Retina, and with his camera and everything

His original name was incredibly punny and clever, so I'll be disappointed if Retinz being a vague reference to retina is all it is.

(And I hope they'll somehow work in a "Who Framed Roger Retinz?" 'reference' into the dialogue.)

I see Retinz more like "ratings", but Roger is lost on me. Maybe it's like how everyone just calls him "Roger", like they're saying "yes, sir", but it's also his name?

Looking back into roots of the name, apparently, because this is the internet and I believe half of what I read, Roger comes from old Germanic words that mean "fame" and "spear."
Spoiler:
Might be him going after fame or going after to destroy Trucy's fame, or his stabbing Fushigi (with a sword though)?

I am thinking this too, and then I think it plays into how Yamashino is this "kind of hip, but out of date" guy or "corny" if you will. Roger is something you say over comms which he also does but it's a cellphone and not a walkie-talkie so it's kind of pretentious, so the name Roger carries the sense that this guy thinks he's a bit more of a bigwig than he really is. I think that's it.

Just a small note, but it's mentioned at the bottom of the Apollo/Nahyuta sheet that Retinz works at Take-2 TV. So Nidomi Television->Take-2 TV.
Just figured I'd pop it here since no one else has mentioned it.

Well, the name Roger Retinz seems to come from "ratings rajah", at least if you look at the profiles of Athena and Roger

It might also be a reference to his Japanese alias (Jack Yamashino), because Yamashino is the two parts of Shinoyama backwards and Roger Retinz swapped sounds like ratings rajah.

Yes they are, it LITERALLY describes him as a ratings rajah, the "king of ratings"

Potdino Nikawas' last name was shown in the trailer at the end if the demo. It's "Andistan'dhin". That probably comes from "understanding". Now we only need his first name.

I think it's hilarious they're cramming as many letters into these names as possible. I remember playing games where text space was limited, and names were sometimes truncated or changed for that reason. Now it's like, limits? Take two apostrophes and go fuck yourself, limits!

This name is beautiful. The blatant puns of the Khura'inese people's names are so beautiful. "Andistan'dhin" XD :gant:

I assume in the profile after Bonny and Trucy, they're probably going to introduce either Ema/Andistan'dhin, Andistan'dhin/Inga, or maybe Andistan'dhin/Shah'do. That way, we can possibly get some more full names.

All too often when I see the word Nahyuta, my brain wants me to pronounce it "Na-hyou-ta" (which is more or less how it would be said were it an actual Japanese name...)

This is annoying as hell.

This person somehow got the game early and partially answered my question about localized names: Potdino Nikawas is now "Pees'lubn Andistan'dhin", and his instrument is called a "dahmalan".

I take it back. If this is true, then that is the worst pun name ever. Or at least the worst spelling ever. Unless he's the type of hippie with magical urination problems.

Uhh... Capcom, I really think you shoulda spelled the first part of his name differently. I mean, I'm kinda imagining him at a toilet now. And, uh, I know the second part is meant to be loving, but now I'm also seeing it as "lubing". Awkward.

I'm certain it's actually supposed to be "Peace, love, and understanding", so if you don't relate "lubn" to a single word "loving", but rather to two words "lub 'n", you might actually unsee the "lubing" therein
