So I jumped all over the DLC that dropped today because, well, it's Ace Attorney and I will take whatever I can get. Sadly, it...really doesn't seem worth $4, even with the 3DS background thrown in. Minor spoilers about the length/how full the court record gets...

Spoiler:
There's a grand total of one cross examination and two pieces of evidence (not including the attorney's badge) acquired throughout the skit. It takes maybe 10 minutes to beat, and that's if you decide to press every statement to see all the dialogue (which I did).

I figured it would be short, but I anticipated something like half the length of a standard trial day. This...just doesn't seem worth $4, unless you're really, really desperate for a SoJ themed 3DS wallpaper.

Can anyone who's played the Apollo skit tell me if it's more substantial?

It's definitely longer. Actually, it's my favorite of the two because it's less bluff and more derp, wut? but that's just me.
Spoiler: general points
It's also a single cross-examination, but there's a bit more to present and deduce.

Just a note: there actually are two endings to each of these shorts; good vs bad ending. It can get tedious trying to fail on purpose, though.

I enjoyed Asinine Attorney for what it is, but I also felt it was too short for its price.

Spoiler: Mini-Episode End
When Rayfa appeared in the courtroom, I expected a "turnabout" of the premise - as in, we've spent half the episode trying to prove that Pearl is Rayfa, and now we're going to try proving the exact opposite again so things may get back in order. That would've been a pretty hilarious turn, though I guess that may well be the plot of AJ: Asinine Attorney?

The price is so dear because you pay for the skit AND the theme. Not just the skit with a free theme (If that makes sense).
EDIT: So I played the skit, and for it's length I agree completely. It's a little over priced.

How long would you say it took? I heard it does have an investigation and a trial segment.

Also, is there a certain time I should play it (I don't mean in terms of plot as I know its non-canon but I mean in terms of spoilers for GS6?) I'm going away for the weekend to a family member's house and one of them hasn't played played 3-5, GK2, AJ, DD, or SoJ but they're a big fan who don't want to see any spoilers for the main game. If there's a day when no one is really doing anything then I might pull the game out but I want to make sure they aren't spoiled so I thought the Asinine Attorney might be good to play in that scenario (this person might glance over my shoulder or something). I'm not worried about things like Pearl appearing, but I wonder if any spoilers like that Fulbright was the Phantom or things like that appear.

It's a pixel-art image of the Kurain market street. All the characters can be seen doing things around town. The bottom screen features pixel-art themed versions of the Kurain trials with Phoenix, Rayfa, and either Payne or the Kurain Prosecutor (I don't remember which, unfortunately). They move when you move the cursor around to select an application. The "happy" Kurain investigation music plays.

You start off out of court for a very brief time before jumping right into court, so it's not really "an investigation and a trial". For me, I took ~40 minutes to clear all of it; pressing everything, presenting the wrong things and answering questions wrong, even accessing the bad ending. (Oddly enough, it takes me 2-3x as long to complete Asinine Apollo.)

There are no in-game spoilers, but both shorts do reveal a bit of trivia about Rayfa. None of it will ruin your game (it's pretty obvious when it's given in-game), but I recommend after playing through the first investigation day of case 3 if you insist on avoiding spoilers at all costs.

Like with the DLC for DD, this and the DLC case can be played after completing case 1.

Apollo one's not out in the West yet. That drops next Thursday I think

I was wondering about this too. In fact, I don't even know how to get the bad ending since I tried to pick all the wrong answers as well as the right ones. The only thing I didn't do was run out of "life" so maybe that's how you get it?

Regarding Apollo's theater case: To anyone who has played the Japanese version, are there any spoilers for case 5 in it? Since I probably will finish Case 4 tomorrow and the DLC comes out Thursday I'm temped to play it before starting Case 5.

Spoiler: Case 6-5
I haven't spoiled myself on Case 5 (Please don't tell me anything!) but from the names of some spoiler tags I've read it sounds like something might happen to/revolve around Apollo and he might even leave the series so I wondered if it might be more fitting to play the DLC before the "end" of his arc, assuming that's the case (once again, please don't tell me!)

You have to lose all the magatamas to get the bad ending. I thought it was stupidly funny.

It was cute. Thank goodness it's not canon.

Spoiler:
Though the thought of Pearl ruling a kingdom, and possibly better than Rayfa could is hilarious.

Plus, I like the theme, especially hearing :takethat: whenever I open up a game/app.

Sad, but not tragic. Nick never knows the truth and he's crushed.

The Apollo one was actually really sad.
Spoiler:
Poor Edgeworth lost his Steel samurai poster :(

(And the Phoenix bad ending was tragic:
Spoiler:
he stopped being an attorney over that mocktrial!
)

I admit, I almost shed a tear.
Spoiler:
He should ask Trucy about it, but knowing him, he'll be too shy to tell her. Phoenix, help him.

And relatable.
Spoiler:
Crushed like I was over the localization's choice of avoiding the Jap-Italian restaurant idea.

Still a little bitter.

I'll just put this in spoilers since I'm trying to figure out one thing at the end of Apollo Justice Asinine Attorney.

Spoiler: For Apollo Justice Asinine Attorney
Does anyone know what evidence I need to submit that involves determination. I'm at that end part here and I tried submitting the Steel Samurai poster, no dice. Tried submitting the promo video. No dice. Can anyone help?

If you're on the last two questions, you'll need to present both the Nine-tails Vale pamphlet and the theater brochure, probably in that order.

Otherwise, I'm not sure which part you're talking about.

Spoiler:
Wasn't that the info paper about the theatre? Because I'm very sure I presented the disc and got it wrong. In the paper it says how much work they put into the production and Apollo quotes it.

Spoiler: Apollo Justice: Asinine Attorney
Nice cameo by Klavier. Princess Rayfa being a spoiled brat reminded me of young Franziska in AAI1-4.

Got a little confused about Jinxie suddenly being Athena's friend. Been a while since I played DD, but I thought she used to be Trucy's friend? Not that she can't have two best friends, but it's weird it wasn't mentioned. Then again, it's Asinine Attorney, so I guess I shouldn't expect much.
