Remember, though, that he had earings in the original Japanese version, without any German influence on his name (and Franziska grew up in America).
True, though he doesn't really scream "I'm Japanese!" to me. His overall choice in clothes doesn't help, either. Not that it's a bad thing, mind you, as only the Karmas can pull off such a look in this day and age.... (or ten years from now, as the case may be).
He's suppose to be American in the Japanese version. Knowing what crazy Americans can do sometimes (quite easy to get a hold of a gun while its difficult in the UK), he must have got drunk and had his ears pieced.
