As the series have progressed, there is no denying that the characters have gotten much more...unusual. The coloring has gotten gaudier and the characters appearnaces have become real wierd. I would say the in Ace Attorney, the most bizzare characters were Gant and Redd. Compare them to the normal characters of the later games, and they fit right in.

I ask you...what are your opinions? Do you think that Capcom should continue making characters as they have been, or was it better back in Ace Attorney?

Well, the characters have always been "weird", and it really hasn't changed too much from the first game to the fourth. Each and every character has their own personality, and that's a very good thing. If they were all just average normal people with problems, it wouldn't really be the same series.

Blademaster pretty much hit the nail there. No matter how you look at it, Phoenix Wright is a series that is highly exaggerated and ridiculous, and it doesn't try to be anything else but that. I see what you mean, Brandon Strong, but I'd say there were weirder people than Gant and Redd. Furio is incredibly bizarre in appearance, and so is Luke Atmey. Or, even Max Galactica. Even if he's a carney in ever meaning of the word, he's still got an overboard appearence.

That being said, to answer your question, I hope Phoenix Wright keeps that bizzarness that has sort of defined it: Both in character design and situation.

Er...sorry, Daramue, but that wasnt my point. Im sayin that as the series progresses, the characters get more and more ridiculus. Personalitywise, They are all fine, but in appearances they have changed a lot. What I was saying is that Redd and Gant, while wierd in AA, are almost normal when compared to characters like Luke, Furio, Kudo, Basil, even Iris. And Iris is one of the most average characters of 3-5.

I dunno. I kinda miss Dee Vasquez, and Karma and all that cast...they all looked like people you could actually walk across on a walk in the city. But Kudo? Furio? ...well, thats what I think. And in any case, thats what I meant.

With the exception of Hamigaki most of the GS4 character look pretty normal. So does most of the JFA cast. T&T crossed the line though.

But, even comparatively speaking most of the AA characters look like your average Joe in your typical Earth-like world. They didn't look that bizzare and unrealisitic. Gaudy and eccentric, yes, but certainly not above the norm.

As far as JFA goes:
Maggey, Wellington, Ini, Matt, and Adrian all look like people you'd expect to see in real life. The only thing that might look off about Franziska is her blue hair and fancy clothes, but those aren't at all out of the PW norm. Pearl looks normal minus her spirit medium outfit, but it's the same outfit as Maya. The rest of the main cast looks the same as usual. De Killer looks a bit eccentric, but only in a fitting way and not at all more-so than some of the AA cast. Morgan's hair is a tad large but that's not really off in the PWverse. Hotti was fine.

The ones that are really different looking are the case of 2-3, but they're a CIRCUS. They're SUPPOSED to look different. They're all wearing stage costumes and having bizarre mannerisms. It's not like they'd all look like that if they were going grocery shopping.

Many of the T+T characters WERE rather eccentric-looking, I'll admit, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing as there are several more normal-looking characters in the other three games. If anything it provides a bit of variety--where you prefer the more normal characters, others may prefer the more eccentric designs, so I think there's a nice balance there.

Well....I personally like that there's some weird characters, but, at least not everyone is weird. If they do not have an own personality, they're nothing. If everyone would be like a person in the real world (you know...not so weird) , the game just would lose it's taste. That's why I hope that Capcom keeps its balance in the upcoming Saibans and makes them awesome like the previous games.

Furio's not THAT out of place - I'd say his colour's not that far off that of the Suntan Brigade that I went to school with XD

See, PW is just predicting later fashion trends. Daian hair is gonna be the new black in a few years time, just you see!

GS3 characters look definitely stranger that the ones on PW1 and PW2, but in the end almost all of them have a nicely built personality. Maybe it would have been nice to see more "normal" characters on GS3, but as long as they are interesting enough to attract the attention of the player and make good plots, I'd say that's not a bad thing.

When I look at the new sprites, they're more..."caricatured" and have quirkier, less similar to life personalities. There's the frog lady and the guy with a huge red nose, along with gay chef supremo. GS4 does have some weird cast.
lol, dick hair dude

I would rather have the goofy characters, the serious characters sometimes creep me out when there looking straight at you during the cross examination.

I mean seriously, Image lookin at that for 5 minutes is just creepy. Gimmie a goofy any day.
