PW is like Sudoku: You play it once and you feel like a pro!

Then you try the next "round" and you are swearing when you mess up...

..... okay, maybe not alike.

My mum thinks it sounds cool. My dad says he'll play it... but whenever I ask him he says hes not in the mood and needs to be in the right "mind"

I think I'm probably a bit older than the rest of you, but regardless, I still live with my parents.

My father has never shown much interest in my video games. Unless they're making noise. Then he'll ask what the hell I'm doing and if I can do it elsewhere.
My mom asks a little bit about the games, "oh which one is that? Lawyer?" and then she gives me that "you're way too old to be doing this" look. I tried to explain it was like Law and Order except you can play it and the characters were far more comedic. She seemed vaguely amused that I was so caught up in the game more than anything.
My (slightly) younger brother thinks it's the lamest game in exisitence because it does not involve the killing of things. What point is a game if you are not killing things, the things are already dead and that is lame.
My (also slightly) younger sister thinks the game looks hilarious, but I won't let her borrow my DS to play it because my DS is attached to me permanently. She has expressed interest however.

I haven't converted the masses or anything, but they are generally disinterested and forcing your beliefs/hobbies/weird cult-like behaviors on others is just plain rude!

My parents don't really care about video games, simply because I buy too many of them. My dad laughed when he saw the title, "Ace Attorney", though. He might actually LIKE it. My mom is a lost cause.

I've managed to convert one of my friends, and another friend expresses something mildly resembling interest. She's still resisting, though.

My mom complains about Phoenix Wright for one reason and one reason only.

"STOP PLAYING THAT LAWYER GAME AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!"

And my sister complains because when my microphone doesn't pick up "HOLD IT!" all that well, so I have to scream it several times before I give up and push the L button.
"IT'S THREE IN THE MORNING! GO TO BED!"

Last year, I think, I let a friend of mine borrow Ace Attorney (More like forced him to play it. :karma: ) and he just finished the second case when his DS broke. He had to send it back to Nintendo to get it fixed. I forgot about letting him borrow the game once he got his DS back, but remembered around a year later (bad memory, no?). The bad thing was that my Father was currently playing Ace Attorney. I had to let him borrow JFA. Once he beat that (which was only a few months ago) he got T&T for Christmas. He's on the second case right now. He isn't as obsessed with the series as me, but he plays it alot. All my other friends (minus one that lives pretty far away from me) keep complaining that they actually made a game with no hopping or shooting or reflex stuff... so I never tried making them play it. Although, they watch me play is sometimes. (My friends assumed it was a French game because of Ron deLites name. :meekins: )

My Dad... I'm not sure if he really likes the series or not... well, I guess he does... but he gets pretty annoyed when I push him to play it. I've found that when I don't make him play it, he WILL play it. Brilliant. :redd: He's on 1-5 right now is just about to meet Gant... that will be fun. It's also pretty funny how he seems to keep getting things mixed up. He keeps asking me which case he's on and stuff. Apart from that happening occasionally, he tends to really get into the game. He plays for hours without realizing it.

My Mother played the first case of JFA (with a little bit of help from me, of course) and liked it... I guess? Once, she started playing 2-2 when she fell asleep! I haven't given it to her since.

My dog can't get enough of the series. He made himself a Godot mask and never takes it off. He shouts "OBJECTION" randomly throughout the night... I'm not sure if It's worse than him barking.
Learned Japanese just so he could play GS4!

My cat can't play it since... well, animals can't play games, now can they?

Not a parental response per se, but amusing (to me, at least) all the same.

*January 2007*

Friend: "Hey, (Real name here) come here for a sec."
Me: "Hm?"
Friend: "Can you scream 'Objection' for me?"
Me: "Uh...sure." *I oblige.*
Friend: "Oh my god. You're violent and nasty and you even SOUND like her."
Me: "The hell are you talking about, Luke?"
*Friend goes through Moe's cross-examination in 3-3 until Franziska objects.*
Me: "Oh. Heh, that's funny. You think I could borrow that game?"
Friend: "It's the second one, so you should probably start with the original..."

*January 2008*

Friend: "Are you sure you're not addicted?"
Me: "Of course I'm not, fool. And is my ascot on straight?"

...Yes, I have problems. But oh, how I enjoy them.

So, yeah... every time I rave about it, they just look at each other and think that I have no life. Which I don't, but still...

Dad: Soo, what's the appeal to the game, anyway?

Me: *looks up from T&T* Oh, it's kinda like the old Nancy Drew games you got for me and Annie (My sister) when we were younger. It's the future, the legal system is screwed up beyond repair, and you're kinda a detective in the games, too.

Dad: Ah. So, where does the lawyering plot come in, anyway?

Me: Oh, the trials start, and you have to figure out contradictions in witness testimonies, and provide evidence to support said claims. Also, you have to find the real murderer during the trial. It's usually one of the witnesses, but it changes a lot...

Dad: Neat. Hey, I heard you can shout into the microphone..

Me: Yeah. You can say, "OBJECTION!", "HOLD IT!" and "TAKE THAT!". I think you can say "Right there!" sometime or another, but I forget. Which reminds me..

"TAKE THAT!" Ha! Locks broken! Now, tell me the truth, Larry...

Dad: Should I ask?

Me: Eh, sure. I have time.

Yeah. My mother always asks me what case I'm on.

Update on my mom: she started case 1-2 not long ago. I gave her the game to play after we had lunch together. We went back to her clinic (she's a doctor), and she started playing. Her secretary told her that her patient was here for their appointment. She looked at her watch and said, "It's not for another 5 minutes." After the secretary left the room she looked at me and said, "I have to play my game!"

At this moment, the DS is on standby so she can continue playing after she's finished seeing her patients.

She's so cute sometimes. xD

Oh, and 3-5 would be pretty kewl as a movie too, I think. Bwhahaha! Earthquakes, fires, and people falling off bridges. That would make an awesome movie!

3-4 would be nice, but it'd be too short. 1-4, 1-5, and 2-4 would make it, though.

You would think parents would want their kids to play something that's not a shooter. And if it can inspire a kid to want a good paying job then all the better!

PW is the first game I don't need to hide from my parents :D

Actually I'm not sure what they really dislike = =the game or the fact that I stay in front of the computer for hours or both of them? :sadshoe: (You see, I have no DS or BGA or anything like that so I have to play games on my computer)

But I don't think their OBJECTION will be as strong as it used to be this time, since they always hope me become a lawyer :-P (however...as a matter of fact, the game just confirm my idea of not becoming a lawyer, if I've almost got heart attack for a few times in a game, what will happen in the really life? :accordion-head: )Even I'm still not sure what will happen if they found me playing PW, I think there is no need to hide it as I always do. Anyway, since we are not living together, it's hard for them to know what I'm really doing here. :uramidn:

Of course I'm not stupid enough to tell them that I'm playing a game without their permission, and I'm sure it will be pretty nice for both of us if they never discover that :gant:

That's great...well, I know my parents just don't want me "waste" any time on playing games ("You can be better, right? So focus on yours study.").I know it's impossible to buy a DS( I don't have pocket money, if I wanna buy something, I have to make a report of what it is and how much it costs, and then they will decide if I can get the money)so I didn't even raise it to any of them.

I don't like this kind of life though...I'd love to share my happiness with my parents but there is something between us that neither of us can overcome.

However, I successfully convinced quite a few friends(we connect to each other by internet) to play PW. PW is really popular in China that almost every student has heard it more or less so they are easy to get convinced. XD Actually I was really surprised to find that many of my friends are PW fans...it's just great that now we have a new topic to discuss about.
