There is a lot that is glossed over in the fic, and maybe a few parts that are actually, not explicit, but specific about what is going on. It's not smutty by all means in my opinion.

Since they do have some of the same sprite movements, it's always possible they could have been. If it was meant to be, then Capcom would have told us.
As for any other least favorite pairings, I'm not to fond of Klavier/Apollo. I've written a fic with them as a couple (pre-relationship stuff really), but it still didn't sell me on the couple. I'll read stuff and look at pics occasionaly, but I see them as both straight.

As for Lunaria mentioning the sprite movements I hardly think it really matters.
Pearl is in no way like Iris or Dahlia movementwise really.

One: Almost certainly not a fact.
Two: I REALLY don't want GS5 to dive back into using more Phoenix-era characters.
And Misty would've agreed for a financial reason no doubt, Kurain needs funding.

I don't think that can be used as support for this theory, because there's a very obvious alternate reason - they were invented by the same artist/character designer, who designs similar characters with similar movements. It's their 'art style' of the moment.
Zak and Gant are very similar in some creepy movement/design areas. Also. Max looks slightly similar to Edgeworth in some sprites.
I think the 'Edgeworth has a greater connection with the Feys than explained' is a pretty supportable theory; maybe Edgeworth's mother is some other random Fey than Misty or Morgan.

I don't really like Phoenix and Maya. Sorry, guys. It just... he seems more like a dad to her than anything. In my opinion, anyway. I also don't particularly care for Phoenix and Mia, although I could see how it works. But then again, I don't like Mia with anybody because I just don't like Mia's character. She just sort of whispers "Mary Sue" to me, and I have BAAAAAAAAAAD experiences with Mary Sue. Except MAYBE Mia and Diego, because they're canon and I tend to like canon.
And I also really can't stand pairings that seem totally random. Like Viola Cadaverini and Lisa Basil. How stupid of a pairing does that sound!? But just for the record, I don't know if anyone's actually supporting that pairing. I just picked those two because their smilies are next to each other. They were just there. It was convenient.

Oh, and the WORST ones are when they're from two different games and there's like no way they could ever possibly meet ever. Once I saw somebody who was shipping Damon Gant and Dee Vasquez... no lies here, dude, but for their sake I'm not saying this person's name. (Well, that and because I forgot it. But even if I remembered I wouldn't say it.) They just seem really stupid and I can't stand them. The worst of these are especially when they take a person from the original PW games (not Phoenix or Ema, obviously) and pair them with an Apollo Justice character. Like Maya/Trucy. How does that make any sense at all!?!?!?

Here's some off-the-top-of-my-head reasons.
--Maya is more of a sibling to Phoenix, to me. I mean...she's just...his assistant...
--To cite evidence for this pairing means searching rather deep in the game, which is something I don't do, especially since I use walkthroughs anytime I've been on the same cross-examination for more than four minutes.
--Maya is a bit immature...no, that's an understatement...very immature, and Phoenix is more level-headed and professional, and I mean, he just...doesn't click with her personality very well.
--Maya incessantly tortures Phoenix. Shichishito bang on head, Ultra Course, Steel samurai fandom to name a few...
--And because of their hate for Phoenix/Iris. Seriously...

Taffy was talking about the fans. Not Maya.
I'll say the same for P/M also. The fans were the reason i quit liking the pairing.

Basically, all he does is stare at Iris and forgive her. Nick has stared at Maya before, and forgiving isn't a sign of love.
Nick's feelings for Maya are up for interpretation. There's nothing proving that he's not just a really devoted friend, and nothing proves he isn't doing what he does because he feels for her as more than just a friend, or in a romantic sense.
