I think I can explain it....post it for me?

After you search the cafeteria and find the juice bottle (this is after Moe says "There's Gotti be something interesting"

Is that a type of wine or something?

I'm still thinking it's a reference to the mobster.

But that's just me.

Actually Tails, my Dad thinks that as well... I asked him a while back, and he explained it to me in detail, but my memory sucks, as everyone here knows. :sadshoe:

I mean absolutely no disrespect whatsoever, but the games are translated into English and localized for Americans, since (and please correct me if I'm wrong) America and Japan are at least Ace Attorney's (if not CapCom's) biggest country buyers and such. Or whatever the correct economic verbiage is. I mean, if you tried to play the game in Japanese and had it translated word for word what the game read, you probably would get very few, if any, of the jokes that are said, simply because the game is localized for teens in Japan to get the cultural references. Now, I think in the French version, they also localize it so that the French teens can laugh at their own cultural references (for example, I guess there's a french airport with "d'Orly" in it's title (d', which is short for "de" is pretty much just another word for "of", but that's a technical French grammar thing), and in the game, I think there was a reference to that because of Olga's name).

So, the reason that many of these jokes may "fly over people's heads" is because the game is supposed to be localized for the region.

Anyway :edgy: I had one reference that I kinda get, but a nicer explanation would be nice.

The judge mentioned something about not being a "spoony bard". I know that comes from a Final Fantasy game, but could someone explain what that reference, from which game, that actually comes from? :udgy: I know what FF games are, just haven't played any (I'd watch my bro playing them).

Ah, yes, it is quite unfortunate that those lovely Canadians have to sit through us Americans joking about them. And Americans do get teased by other countries. I mean, in the original Japanese version of AA, the von Karma family was American! lol! :godot:

Are you new to jokes that reference pop culture or something?

Final Fantasy 4 (though I think it may have been origenally called Final Fantasy 2 in America, but newer versions are probably called Final Fantasy 4). The line is from

Spoiler: Moderate FFIV Spoilers
Tellah's daughter ran away with Edward, and when Tellah finds her, he thinks she's dead (although she is dieing, she isn't dead yet) when he sees Edward, he's pissed at him because his daughter is dead/dieing because she ran off with him and stuff, and in the origenal Jappanese version I think he called Edward a bad name or something, but they censored it for America and translated it into "You Spoony Bard!". Now they often if not always still use that line for new American versions because it's a popular line.

Wrong, as far as I remember. In the japanese version, the Von Karmas were still German, but Franz had gone to America to STUDY law.

@Wrestle and Tails: Now that is stuck in my mind too..but I don't understand why that would make any sense to reference that when you're looking through a kitchen that has nothing to do with mobsters.

According to Google image, there's also a band called Gotti that's filled with a bunch of guidos..but I doubt Moe would reference that either.

And smacking someone over the head with a tough CQC-based weapon like a glass bottle doesn't seem like something a Mobster would do!?

... Sorry, I have been a bit moody today... bad night. Anyways...

I found the "It's not like you can go to CostMo. and buy it in bulk!" To be hilarious, personally, because I shop at CostCo. once a week to get different items in bulk. :sassy:

I completely forgot about (aboot) their accent! :nick-sweat:
And they really do say about "aboot". None of them pronounce it American! They don't even wear flags on their heads! (Yu-gi-Oh The abridged series reference, YGO TAS = EPIC WIN) I have a few canadian friends and they all say "aboot". But they don't say "eh" almost ever :payne: . They also say sore-ie when they say sorry! This means that Canadians... I don't know what it means :zenitora: ! Oh well, I still don't like the jokes that much cause of my bro.

Now I feel bad for the Canadians :sadshoe: Always getting made fun of by us Americans like that...

Um... exactly why would we think you guys don't know what the CN tower is... Its a big spike you guys built with a little observatory on top!
Are you part of northern canada? Because we don't think that those toronto and ontario people live in igloos... some of us can see the city from across the falls, when we visit our side.
And yes, my Canadian friends do talk with a distinctly different accent, most notable being "ah-boot" as opossed to "ah-b-owt".
I suppose northern Canada could have a different accent than southern Canada.
We certainly do!
They shoot you fer that in texas! :jake:
'cause those southern folk aren't used to talking to urban sophisticates like us! :maya:

Actually, it's more of an Eastern/Western Canada thing, to be honest... but we're getting WAY off topic.

What song did Wesley Stickler have as his ringtone? I couldnt quite place it.
The Police references made me smile though, when Apollo says "Who the hell calls a band the Police?" and a character sings "Roxanne.. you don't have to put on the red light" etc (Roxanne, a hit for The Police) :D

It was Guilty Love but with the tempo sped up.

The jazz hands gag comes from a suggestion made a while ago on this very site that the star in Mask*DeMasque stand for the speaker doing jazz hands.
