With that out of the way, PxI is my favorite coupling in the series. Also, I noticed something weird in the book I was reading. It's called I Am A Taxi and it has a guy named Diego in it, and his best friend's name is Armando. Coincidence?

Since I suggested the topic, I'll go first. I think the first thing that appealed to me was how both of them always thought of the other's well-being first even though it was not always in their own best interest. Iris gives Phoenix her hood to protect him when it might well have been smarter (for her own sake) to keep that protection for herself, but what really matters to Iris is that Phoenix is safe. Also, after being arrested, Phoenix's condition is the first thing she asks about, completely dismissing her own troubles until she is reassured that he is safe and will recover. After falling from a bridge and being terribly ill, the first thing Phoenix does is send Edgeworth to take care of her. He just wants to make sure Iris comes through this okay, so he sends his close friend who happens to be an excellent attorney to watch over her (He does this even if it means he must go through his recovery alone. Being sick and alone is not fun). Also for Iris's sake, Phoenix checks himself out of the hospital before he is truly ready all so that he can take over and protect Iris. He wants to be the one to defend and protect her even if it puts his health at risk (I imagine that if Iris had discovered he was still ill, she would have sent him back to the hospital immediately). There are a bunch more examples of just this point, but I've babbled long enough. I just found this adorable and then of course I saw a bunch of other things which made the couple even more appealing, but I won't go on anymore. This long paragraph is why I decided not to post my whole reasoning behind the couple. I tend to go on quite a bit.

About time, I should start posting up my reason...
I think it's that sense of something isn't right when I started playing Turnabout Memories. After playing the previous 2 games, I had a sense of deja vu when I saw Dahlia Hawthorne. But something still bugged me when I thought about Phoenix's claims that Dahlia was a sweet and innocent girl even though she came out to be a complete b****. So I kept that in mind before I started to play Bridge to the Turnabout.
When we were first introduced to Iris, she kept avoiding Phoenix which was odd to me. But then something happened which I didn't expect which was when Iris gave her hood to Phoenix. It was then that everything made sense sort of. But it's the concern she always gives to him even though he didn't figure out who she was until the end. It was a lost love story almost to a point but it still ended great though.
I still laughed at the epilogue when Iris told Phoenix she still feels bad when Pearls hit him rather had......

When she broke down, something inside me melted. Aww... If she had done that in front of Phoenix, I would've taken it with a few grains of salt, but with Phoenix absent I found it much easier to believe that she wasn't putting on an act. Naturally, when I learned the true nature of her "secret", all doubt flew out the window. Obviously, I'm a sucker for redemption stories.

Hmm, that's something I didn't think of at first. But that's a good point. I think Phoenix holds all his friends close to his heart regardless of whether or not they are enemies or friends. Iris was a lot more different especially in the epilogue where she told him that he kept looking at her regardless of Pearl's big smackdown

Pretty much. A big part of Phoenix's character is that is that he cares so deeply about his friends and his sort of substitute family, but despite the fact that Iris is clearly very important to him, she isn't tied to him through bonds of friendship (like Larry, Miles, and I would even include Franziska) or by familial bonds (like Maya and Pearl). She holds a different but still very special place in his heart as Edgeworth even mentions at the beginning of the case. Phoenix always goes all out to protect the people he cares the most about and he does go all out to protect Iris which shows that she clearly means a great deal to him. We can tell from his reactions to her (and hers to him as well) that he is connected to Iris in a very different, but extremely strong way which I interpreted as continued love.

Okay, a more silly question to spark some discussion. Earlier in the thread we discussed possible nicknames for Iris, but do we think that by twenty-six Phoenix would still use one for his girlfriend. He's certainly grown up quite a bit since he last dated Iris (and never seems to use nicknames much with the exception of the one he gives to Pearl who is like a daughter to him) and I've heard opinions both ways (...I said it was silly question
). Anyone who wants to suggest a better topic is welcome to do so. I just don't want this thread to die and it will if its just me posting what few pics I can scrounge up.My opinion is that I think that he would likely still use one although possibly not in front of strangers. Its less a matter of maturity and more a sign of affection for another person. At the very least I think he would use it because I imagine it would make Iris happy to hear. A simple but sweet reminder that he loves her.

Anyway, I do believe that Phoenix will probably use a nick for her but I think Iris is an easy yet elegant name to use. Even my friends agree that Iris is quite a good name to give an innocent and pure girl to use
