For the grand final, he began his speech by asking about what the law is and then giving his perspective on it: "The law is like the gift of a cup of fruit juice. There are many parts blended together that make up its whole, and each part is just as important as any other. It would not exist were it missing any one. And being able to give this collective effort to help someone brings joy to both the recipient and the giver." Then, he went on to address how society views the law, how the law is constantly changing and evolving, and how people's view on it should evolve with it.
It made me think plenty as well, but I ended up taking a completely different (but no less legit) direction. Of all the lawyers we know that like to drink something in particular, Phoenix opts for a much sweeter taste than Edgeworth or Godot would. It's not that he doesn't like bitter drinks or maybe he does, I'm not sure. It's that as someone who's become accustomed to fighting other people's bitterness, he's come to appreciate both sides of the spectrum, and sweet things presented in fiction more often symbolize a greater sense of optimism or naivete. And this in effect leads me to another of my old theories that AJ Phoenix was actually less of a badass than I initially took him for, especially accounting for Edgeworth's side of the work.
All in all, this is what lawyers should strive for: a more open perspective on the cases they work, without letting them become muddled with each other. I love how this ideology is trending more and more these days. It's been lost or overlooked for far too long.

So you know in 5-3, when Athena and Phoenix hear a loud crashing noise at the beginning during the mock trial? Well, uh, I pretty much just heard that exact sound. I was in another room, and I heard a faint *crash* that sounded exactly like that one - except this time it was my five year-old sister accidentally dropping and breaking her favorite piggy bank. I want to put it back together, like Athena did with the statues, but there were too many tiny pieces...
