You do not have to be a Detective to dress like one. Yesterday I walked up to the local marketplace dressed u all nice in a suit and I'm no Prosecutor.... yet.
Besides, you don't have to be a Police Chief to dress up as Damon Gant while at school and helping people retrieve lost items and solve "Cases" on Campus. ((True story.))
Although, do you think it would ever be possible for me to make a generally even good Damon Gant Cosplay considering the fact I look nothing like him? ((I wish I did sometimes, though, female Gant is actually really really hot, drew her once out of boredom.))

I've always wanted to dress Mum up as Bikini and my Dah as the Judge's brother even though he looks nothing like the Judge or his Brother, but Mum reminds me of Bikini lookswise, but they act nothing alike. V_V
As for the voice clips, I'd love to try it out, but I don't know many people with access to computer microphones, that, and the human voice is actually far more versitile as people think it is. I've made myself a good adult male wolf actor's voice, a Lord Montegue, and a Valley Girl, so, I'd be amused to see what others could come up with.

zellthemedic, not at all. I do it all the time and after about the third time people see me in one wacky outfit or another clinging to a Damon Gant plushie in one hand limping on a cane in another, wearing a suit, after about the third time someone sees you, they stop staring.
And yes, true story, one of my friends and I had to go on a wild goose chase to get one of his friend's phone back. Seriously, we were interrogating witnesses and everything.
And I still agree, being a homicide detective would be far cooler than simply dressing as one. Same with me and Prosecutors, I want to be one when I get older, but for now, there's always the lovely world of pretend.
Lilith, yes, Maya is fun to act as, I'm bad at it though, I can look and dress like Maya, but I act as a better Gant.

Yes, my good dear, Gant. I don't have his voice at all no matter how hard I've tried, I can't get it as I imagined, that hearty sort of booming voice ((I can do a really bored or noble booming voice, though, I'd do it, but my microphone wouldn't transmit the sound as well.)) But man, do I love dressing lke him. Only problem is since I don't have an orange suit, I have to substitute a tan suit and slacks, but the rest of the accessories are pretty accurate, I can use my Original Oritory Medal and my red scarf to make his crosstie. XD

Special Victims, you mean? ((Gah, I have no real way of knowing if that's the real term or if that's just what the show calls the unit. >> )) Pretty much all around sex crimes?
Yes, I blame you not there, being a detective would be amazing, but all around, the entire police force are very overworked, and be wary, you will see many things you'll regret, so make sure you have a heart of steel and a cast-iron stomach. Really, it depends on what sort of cases they'll put you on, but you'll probably get your share of "Sights"
And I hope I made a point, really, I didn't type all of that to go from your eyes to... somewhere else...? But really, I'm a sight to see just about anywhere nowadays, limping with a cane from an injured foot, people are bound to stare, teenagers don't belong on canes, it's just not a sight people are used to. It's a sight to behold, really, because I walked with it before I even got injured, hiking sticks/canes are amazing for keeping your stamina. But really, people get used to you after awhile, and it provides a lot of fun when people ask why you're dressed up ((IF they ask, no one's asked me yet. V_V))

It's not called special victims here, I can't remember what it's called, but yeah, it's pretty much all around sex crimes. He's out of police work now, living in a small town in Arizona working for Lockheed Martin.
I know what I'm getting into. My dad, when he was in homicide, used to show me a couple of pictures of the crime scenes when they were closed. Pretty harsh stuff. Honestly, I think I do have an iron stomach. I've seen pictures of child abuse, murder, rape victims, dead people who were thought to be murdered...

Bisbee, Arizona. In fact, I just got back on Friday from visiting him for a week (Eh, 5 days, Sunday - Thursday).
Yeah...I'm a sucker for sad people. Thing is, I can't say anything to them. When they get sad, all I can do is sit there and think "Damn...that sucks..." I know, it's bad for me not to say anything to them in their time of pain, but I just can't say anything. I'll try to say something, and it doesn't come out, or it comes out and it sounds really, really bad. I'm not a vocal person...moreso silent observer.
I guess if I want to be a detective, I'll have to get over that mindset.
As far as I'm concerned, the process is, in Kentucky at least, patrolman for 1 year (I think...I'll have to ask my dad later) then you can be a detective if you choose to be one.

Yes, you probably will, unless you want complaints from the victim's family, which I doubt anyone would be very pleased to get, but you never know, there are some people who like getting complaints, fills them with some sort of thrill, I'm not sure....

Southeast Arizona, near Sierra Vista. I think the county is called Cochise county? But anyways, I'm not there anymore. I'm back here in good ol' Kentucky.
I used to live in Arizona, for a year. My dad was stationed in southwest Arizona at Yuma Proving Grounds. I freakin' loved that place, it was...beautiful, for lack of a better word. If I had to choose a place to live in permanently, it'd be southwest AZ, in Yuma.
But I'll probably end up in like...North Dakota or some crappy state like that.
Bah! Bring the complaints on!

Thankfully, love, from the officers I've spoken to at school and such ((D.A.R.E. program, and I got along really well with the Security Guard stationed at the front doors of our Juniour High, really, everyone always talks about the "Bad Cop", I've never had one of those experiences, it makes me wonder what it takes to get one.)) The speeding chases tend to be fairly rare, or at least to the point you can expect about three in a year unless you do a lot of emergencies, but I'm fairly sure you'll do mostly traffic violations, the minor ones, speeding, headlights missing, I'm no expert, but that is what it would seem to be.
All the same, just about everywhere in Arizona is beautiful, if you get the chance, move into the Valley and call me up somehow, I'll gladly show you around sometime. I've lived here for a year since April 1st, and know the place somewhat well, it's amazing here, you should come back if you ever get the chance.

I see. I didn't go anywhere near the Phoenix Wright area when I went to visit my dad. I flew into Tuscon and flew out of Tuscon.
