Better get some explainations done.

Manfred von Karma is in my eyes the best. He's the quirkiest, the one that is closest to take down Phoenix even without any proof, and is an awesome charracter. And not losing EVER IN 30 YEARS is not something that you can you ignore.

Garyuu is a very nice character from what I can tell. A nicer guy than Edgeworth, a purdy boy (a bishounen). I won't spoil GS4.

Godot is third. I like his visor+coffe+personality combo, and he wins deaply, especially combined with his theme. Now, he doesn't win because of certain things..... As Croik would tell you.

Payne is actually a nice character. Really, I think it must be much harder to make a character that loses all the time compared to one that is a perfectionist godmodder. And he's a pretty nice character considering how BLAND he's ment to look.

I don't really think Edgeworth is a bad character, it's just that there are quite a few other awesome prosecutors, so he ranks a little lower. Especially his Emo part.

Lana isn't much of a prosecutor, but I'd bring her in anyway. Again, she's not a bad character, but she's very bland due to the... AHAM... locks she has put on her heart, for a very large part of the case she's in, making one not really get a grip of her as on the others.

Franziska is bland and boring, and lacks all the power that Manfred has. She's a wannabe, and nobody likes a wannabe. Especially compared with the other prosecutors, Franziska leaves behind a smell of insufficiancy, provocation, death (:P) and despise. There is nothing likable to make of her inside the gaming environment - you need to move into fandom area to be able to be able to STAND her. There is absolutely NO doubt in my mind that Franziska is the absolute loser here, and one of the worst characters (that is supposed to not be a bland charracter) in the game. And no, I don't dig SM.

From what I've heard about Godot and his coffee addiction, he might just be my favorite when I actually get my hands on a copy of Trials and Tribulations, but as for now...

I'd have to say... Franny. It's odd - her absurd amount of overconfidence makes her hilarious. And the reason she uses a whip is blatently obvious, to cover her short comings when it comes to actual prosecution. Manfred was genuinely terrifying, while she's a wannabe to the nth degree. Makes her somewhat lovable for trying - though, time and time again, I've wanted to take that whip and cram it down her throat. Psycho.

Second place, Edgeworth before he found the 'Truth'. Sure, he's a better guy after finding it, but there's something to be said about a ruthless opponent - though, there's a line. Manfred easily goes way over that line, which is why he falls in line with the rest.

Hmm. I'll provide explanations as well.
One thing to take into account: These are my views as favorite CHARACTERS, not as prosecutors. Manfred is obviously the best and most ruthless prosecutor, but in my mind his character loses greatly. On the other hand, Franziska, while I find her character interesting, is very boring to fight against in my opinion--however, maybe that's me just not liking 2-2 and 2-3 overall, it's hard to tell. Since I'm putting Lana as my favorite and you don't even fight against her, I'm going to list the rest in order based on personality as well. Also, obviously there are spoilers for all of the games here.

1. Lana Lana wins for me because she's, quite frankly, my idea of a perfectly likable character. She's strong, she's intelligent, she's mature. She has interesting and varying relationships with many other characters--her older sibling relationship with Ema, her intimate relationship with Jake, her working and somewhat antagonistic relationship with Angel, her mentoresque relationship with Edgeworth, Mia's "attraction" to her, and the twisted hold Gant has on her. She's got a good character design, she's compassionate, and much of what she says rings true to me. In particular, her speech about how you should never trust your client because they are suspected of wrong-doing made much more sense to me than all of Mia and Phoenix's speeches about having faith and believing, which were much harder for me to swallow. The only thing hampering Lana, in my opinion, is her secrets--While I believe they add a lot to her character, the fact that they are present for almost all of her appearance detracts from her character as well. We only get a few opportunities to see what she's really like, and sometimes its hard to tell what parts of what she says are true and which parts are part of her facade. I think it's a mixture a lot of the time, but since it's hard to say for certain she loses a bit of impact as a character, I think. However, that's minor enough to keep her in first place for me.
2. Edgeworth Edgeworth is pretty much tied with Lana for me. He's the most fun to fight against imo. He's clever. Even during the time when von Karma has a strong grip on him he still has a consistent set of morals, which is something that I admire no matter what those morals may be, and he's 100% honest. If you're someone he cares about, you can trust him no matter what--if you're not, he has no problem with telling you such. I always like characters who hate crime, and it's fun to see his character evolve as the series goes on. He's deep and multi-faceted but he still manages to keep a lot of consistency with his character--as I said, that consistency is something I really appreciate in a character. Whatever his methods may be, I believe that (after a case or so) he has good intentions, and he also has a lot of power. He's cold but he's not a bad person in the least. And like Lana, he also has many different types of relationships with other characters that makes him a deeper character himself--Franziska, Phoenix, Maya, von Karma, Lana, Gant, Gumshoe--and he's a very determined person who knows what he wants and how to get it.

As for one of my least favorites...Godot: I haven't played GS3 but I've spoiled myself plenty. From what I've heard, Godot does some really horrible things that aren't justified, yet are excused by the characters. He has a nice character design and a lot of gimmicks, but in my opinion none of that makes up for his actions. Maybe my opinion will change when TaT comes out, but I really don't anticipate liking Godot at all.

The other characters are sympathetic to Godot--and I can't blame them--but I don't think anyone outright excuses his actions. Otherwise why take him off to jail in the end? There were points when they dissagreed with the motivations behind those actions when Godot was beating himself up, but that's not the same as excusing him outright.

It's very possible you won't like him, but I think he's an interesting character. He's very much a tragic hero.

Hmm. Well, like I said, I only know the very basics, so who knows, my opinion might change. I think it all depends on how deep I consider his character to be, so I won't really know until September. I guess I'll try to keep an open mind about him though.

Shouldn't we have some spoiler tags or something up like that for Godot? Not everyone wants to be spoiled for the third game.

Aie... it never occurred to me to chose Lana... she was the chief prosecutor after all... :P

Okay, revising m3h list because I am too lazy to edit:

Edgeworth--He's always gonna top my list, no Ifs, Ands, or Butz Buts *shot*
Lana--She rocks. 'nuf said. Pity she isn't a prosecutor in the game as an opponent.
Manfred--I cracked up every time he yelled "OBJECTION" and that was... a lot of objections...
Franny--Seriously, who has EVERYONE whipped--literally--and gets away with it?
Payne--Anyone who can make me laugh is good in my book; even the old guy screeching in soprano.

As for Godot... while I never played GS3, for some reason, he really doesn't appeal to me at all. Perhaps my opinion will change with time, but he bottoms out on my list.
Too lazy... hur hur.

I'm a little late to the party, but Miles_Wright, keep the attitude in check, please. These are all just opinions.

My list~

Edgy : One of my favorites in the game over all, so it's no surprise he's my favorite prosecutor. He's just spectacular in 2-4. Everyone gets down on him for the emo but he grows a lot between the three games, making him certainly one of the series' most dynamic characters, if nothing else.

Von Karma : Great villain. Everyone loves a good headbanging. Old men are the new bish, I'm tellin' ya.

Kyouya : I found Kyouya to be very refreshing. He had a lot of small lines in the game that made me adore him. Plus, air guitar. Here's hoping he'll still be around in GS5 in some capacity.

Payne : Always fun to beat a Payne <3 Though sometimes it makes me feel like a bully.

Franziska : Eh, not too fond of Franny. The whipping and the "foolies" made her seem too childish to me. Couldn't take her seriously. Gotta agree with Mikker on this one (though I don't think she's bad enough to be the "worst" in the series. There's always Penny to consider, ha ha ha Aiga ).

Godot : Ugh. That's all I'm gonna say :X

(Not counting Lana 'cause she never actually prosecutors, or Neil because he doesn't really have an established character anyway).

1 HairFlip F*ck Yeah, Payne. I don't even know why I like him. Probably because he has pretty much screentime (more than Franziska anyway).

2 Von Karma Probably finishing him was so satisfying.

3 Edgeworth during case 1-2. Just because he made me jell at my DS (stop objecting to my stuff!)

Edgeworth is still the number one prosecutor IMO. The amount of character development he undergoes between PW1 and PW2 is amazing. He eventually realizes that a perfect win record is pointless and breaks away from Von Karma's shadow as a "demon prosecutor" and sets his own path since he finally realized Manfred for the cruel, evil, wicked man that he was. He literally own the courtroom in 2-4 and even teaches Phoenix a valuable lesson.

He's certainly one of the game's most dynamic characters. I can't wait to see what happens to him in Trials and Tribulations (DON'T SPOIL IT FOR ME OKAY THNXBAI).

If it wasn't for the fact Edgeworth's got so many fans that I could almost drown in it.... I wouldn't be so hesitant in choosing him. Mind you, I like him and all. But the fangirls, and him being a mary-sue bait as of lately? It's a little much. -__-
Since I am not into the other prosecutors that much... He's the one that's left.

Lana came off as a little bland in character for my taste.
My liking for Von Karma was short lived.

I have a love/hate thing going on with Franziska. (I mean, come on. Her whipping started to get a bit old after a while and I didn't find the airport scene THAT interesting...) I can only deal with her on a small dosage.

I think I might like Godot or I might not. but I will see when September comes around.

This is a hard question.

in order I like

1. :edgeworth: He in more cases then anyone and is very hard to beat at times and alot of other people like him so why not me?
Spoiler:
he even beats you in case 2-4
:welly:
2. :karma: he was only in one case but DAMN he objected on everything and brought up great points that made you think really hard and his Objection freaks you out when you first hear it. :wellington:
3. :payne: he is just funny and his hair styles just rule. :welly:
4. :franny: the only GOOD thing about this girl is what she did in
Spoiler:
case 2-4
. She was WAY too easy to defeat and it didn't give you that good feeling you get when you win a case, it gives me the feeling of "Yay now I don't have to deal with that bitch anymore" but she is a goddess when I think of number 5 on my list. :beef:
5. :godot: didn't like how he acted and his reason for hating phoenix is piss poor
Spoiler:
how he blames phoenix for the death of Mia even if Phoenix could do nothing about it.
and you can Tell who is guilty just from looking at them so facing him in court is no problem,I hate this star wars/star treck rip-off/look-alike and he can drown in his own blood for all I care. :beef:

:kyouya: I haven't played the game but I heard that he is nicer but isn't as hard to defeat in court as :edgeworth: or :karma:...so he doesn't get placed anywhere. :wellington:

support or disapprove my reasons don't start flaming me. :welly:

Personnally character flaws are what make some of these characters atractive I mean if you had a perfect main characterhow boring would that no interesting internal conflicts? Yawn! so character flaws=YAY! :edgy: p.s. I only own game 2 but have read every case description save for the ones from game 1.

In no particular order
:franny: Fransiska von Karma
A. her charater flaws are what make her attractive/cute personality-wise. personally I feel her strive for absolute perfection makes her seem like she is insecure on the inside.
B. I like how she views Miles as a little bro.
C. she is just plain HOT

:godot: Godot
A. once mo' chara flaws make him emotionally deep
B. Coffee dependancy=WIN!

:edgeworth: Miles Edgeworth
A. chara flaws anyone?
B. who doesn't like cravats?

:kyouya: Garyuu Kyouya
A. chara... wait a minute Kyouya has no glaring chara flaws Gaspus Majorus! part of why I like him
B. Air Guitar of Justice! Image
C. he is probaly the only prosecutor who helped from the start and was not obsessed wih winning, because he wants to find the truth ala Edgey, so he could be considered an ally of Odoroki's right away in game 4. Perfect crimebusting duo!

:edgy: I like how his character develops during the story, and I'm in love with his goofyness when he deals with some characters *coughcoughOldbagcoughcough*. Many people label him as an emo bishie prosecutor, but I don't find him emo at all. He was just during 1-4, but that was rather obvious judging by the situation he was in, and quickly snapped out of it when Manfred lost ^^
I don't even find him that bishie-looking, after all >_>

:taser: Surely the best prosecutor to ever cross paths with Phoenix Wright. Cold, cruel, always has something up his sleeve, who hasn't been dubious about beating him? He looked so powerful, and intimidated you to no end with his objections. Plus, I'ma attracted to him, shame on me V_V
