Alright, there's so many crazy lines in the world of Phoenix Wright that there's bound to be some that will go over somebody's head. So if you don't get a joke, feel free to ask here! (And if someone already did this topic, feel free to smack me and post a link to the original)

I'll go ahead and start off with this one

Spoiler: Case 3-1, but nothing plot wise
Young Mia in reference to Dahlia: "Well now we know who's milkshake brings all the boys to the yard..."

The heck?

That's a reference to the song "Milkshake" by Kelis.

It's kinda hard to ask about the jokes you don't get, because if you don't see them as being jokes. Just more text... I usually go online and then suddenly realized that there was a joke I missed. And then I say "OH! So THAT'S what they were talking about!"

I'm sure there's a bunch of movie references I'm probably missing, since I don't watch a lot of movies.

Yeah, it was done two fold.

- Plotwise it gives you Mia's feelings towards Dahlia.
- It also gives you a bit of insight into Mia's character. She likes R&B which gives contrast to Maya who's more into J-pop.

I hope this answers your question.

On a random moment on T&T (can't remember when) Maya says "No way Jose!" I'm sure it's either a reference or a popular expression, because I have seen it a couple of times, but I don't get it :payne:.

I've looked it up on Wordreference and I found this thread. They say that the "José" is put there because it rhymes with "way".

By the way, is this Phoenix quote: "I love her mini omelettes they're magically delicious." a reference to a song or something?

Is that not a reference to Lucky Charms (an American brand of cereal)? I believe their strapline is "They're Magically Delicious"?

(I'm sure the Colonialists on here will correct me if I'm talking bollox).

I noted a few advertising based jokes in there, such as "he's too sunny to be a criminal" (or something similar) in 3:2. They do seem rather dependent on the brands being discussed being on sale in certain countries, and on them having the same advertising when they are.

I'm pretty sure that it was just a joke.

It's just an expression of disbelief. Not a joke or anything, although I did laugh at Maya using it.

Tagline, and yes, it is.

The "sunny" thing is, I'm sure, a reference to the drink Sunny Delight.

Ah, thank you. Now I wonder why I thought that it was a song reference....

And I can't imagine Mia listening to songs like Milkshake...

It's a reference to Sunny Delite, an orange juice drink.

Because they do actually sing the line in the commercials... like one of those little jingle things.

I actually don't get jokes from Phoenix Wright memes XD

Mostly, what's with Gant and 'swimming' (besides the homo-eros), and Miles' 'alone time'? I just want to know if they're from in-game mentions, or came up in 4chan or something :3

Well, Gant's obsession with swimming is just supposed to be silly, I believe. No 4chan meme there.

What "alone time" do you mean?

Gant's "swimming" references are from the game.

Well, he frequently asks Miles and the Judge if they've been swimming of late, and I believe he requests it of Phoenix. He suggests "going swimming" quite often.

I'm pretty sure "magically delicious" is a reference to Lucky Charms (a breakfast cereal). They were even sold in Britain at one point with the "magically delicious" slogan.

Yeah, but I thought he meant that the swimming suggestions referenced something else in the game... maybe I read too much into that. :grey:

I got Gatewater the first time I heard it, honestly.

And apparently, I happen to be pop-culture savvy that I actually get most of the references, but some of them I just don't pay attention too, because I'm usually too indulged in the game to notice at notable times.

I've got one:

Spoiler:
Okay. There's a part in 3-3. Nick and Maya are at Blue Screens Inc. When you show irrelevant evidence to Lisa, Maya says "This is madness!" Nick says "Madness? This is SPARDA!!" Huge pun to 300.

I didn't find Moe's Bel-air thing funny, because I didn't even know what Bel-Air was at that time.

Even now that I know what it is, I still don't find it funny. >.>

Also, I didn't get the Milkshake reference since I've never even heard of the song before. (Not until I came here and went to Youtube)

The SPARDA thing was genius, though. I got that one right away. XD

Lords! I can't believe that I missed Godot coffee brand tagline joke until just now.

He says something along the lines of "I'm good 'til the last drop" and I only NOW just got that. I forget which brand it was though...
