. She's the only character in the games I couldn't stand. Also, she's just like Dahlia: every time she does something wrong all the guys in the game swoon and say "It's okay, you were just trying to be helpful. My, the ordeal you've been through..." Gag. If Mary-sue could apply to original works, she'd be one.

He just reminds me of all the stereotypical anime bishounen with OMG TRAGIC PASTS and bad social skills that end up doing a 180. Riku from Kingdom Hearts anyone? Plus there is WAY too much of him in the fandom. There's more Edgeworth than there is PHOENIX for godsake.
Also Ema. :/ I wanted to hit her throughout 1-5, and I'm sure once I play AJ that I'll want to smack her around then too.
And Klavier. But this is mostly due to the insane amount of Klavier/Apollo crap that fills up the Kink Meme, so idk if that counts.

for sure. Yeah, she had her funny moments, I'll give her that. The dialog with Phoenix could be hysterical...However, that was more on Nick's part- You know, his sarcastic side that just couldn't help but realize just how stupid she sounds at times. As somebody said in the Maya vs. Trucy topic, I feel like Trucy, who was a year younger than Maya was in her first appearance, is FAR more mature. I know different things have different effects on other people, but Maya just seems WAY to immature and day I say stupid for all the things that happened to her. Spoiler: 1-5
The only thing I like about this guy is "ZVARRI!" and his name pun. In my opinion, Luke was highly annoying. Now, an ego can be funny, but I feel as thought Luke's was WAY overplayed, and it made cross examining him a bitch. Also, was I the only one who wanted to snap his nose in half? Please, don't tell me I'm the only one. The code for this smiley speaks the truth. Her actions are simply inexcusable, and it just makes me shudder knowing she can live with all the lives she's either taken or destroyed. It's...horrifying. 
The way he talks honestly makes my IQ feel like it's going down significantly. I'm I'm a New Yorker, for the love of God. Again, very annoying. And hishair just makes me go "What?"

2-4 Edgy wasn't boring like Klavier. Someone can think they're right without being a jerk. Besides, Klavier had tons of reason to hate Apollo and he didn't seem cautious around Apollo or anything.

You make a good point, not all the characters show strong, negative emotions (such as Penny and the bellboy), but I can easily let that slide for some characters more than others. The reason the lack of expression bothers me in Iris as opposed to the Bellboy or Penny is that, unlike them, she is given an integral role in the main character's story arc.

Anyway you look at it (whether you ship Phoenix/Iris or not), she was an important influence in his life. The fact that she is made so pure and unbelievably kind, with no faults whatsoever is what annoys me. Sure she makes some bad decisions, but they are never portrayed as the results of flaws in her personality. They are always a result of her innocence, trusting nature, or loyalty to her sister.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't identify with characters that have no flaws or, at least, interesting quirks. Even Penny and the Bellboy have flaws (Penny gets overly-excited whenever she wants something and the Bellboy can be pretty obsessive over some rather odd things). Like I said before, I just wish the writers would have spent more time fleshing her out and introduced her a bit earlier in the series.

That was one of my favorite moments in any of the games, and turned my opinion of Edgeworth around from 'yawn' to 'HOLY CRAP, he's hardcore awesome!'.
I dislike Adrian, though.
Ace Attorney is a game. Enjoy the likeable characters and fun story for what they are.

On top of my head the only characters I dislike that others like is

It's like he's some cruel bastard for not falling in love with her, geez. Vera got on my nerves in a similar way Iris did, though not to the same extent. I just don't have any love for her though.

Ron- I found him fairly annoying in the case, but I was more annoyed that he got away with all of his crimes, and then went back to a life of crime at the end of the game, despite him saying that he should probably reform.
Maggey- Apart from being a love-interest for Gumshoe is there really anything to her? As one of the few who don't like Gumshoe/Maggey, I see no point in liking the character.
T&T Adrian- She was a very interesting character in 2-4, but with all her problems gone in 3-2 she became an uninteresting character, most likely put in the game because they were to lazy to put in a new character.
