I didn't want to create a new topic on this as I wanted to wait until I could release a video showing how a case is created. For those who aren't in the know, Phoenix Write (PWrite if you prefer) is a program that allows you to make your own Phoenix Wright cases for the PC, and hopefully Pocket PC in the future. My main focus here, is making a simple interface so anyone can use it. Sadly, building a program doesn't just involve the interface; there's much more to it. So, this is all I have to show for now:

Image

This is the main Phoenix Write window. It has other windows inside and you can minimise/restore those windows, making the task of creating a case much easier. I'm sorry the program looks very much incomplete in the screenshot. I am working on it but I'm not rushing myself. You can see the data management window in it (which I'm quite far from finishing at this stage). This helps you easily manage and organise the (in order of tabs) audio, graphics, profiles, records and sprites in your cases. It will have a really simple wizard so you can find the file you want to add on your computer, change some properties, and get it in the game.

If you're wondering why there's both "GFX" and "sprites", well, by sprites I'm generally referring to game characters. Graphics will be anything else. I'm trying hard to work on everything, and while the screenshot doesn't show much, it shows I've done things since my last thread. And there's plenty more to come. Once I sort out a few things I'll be able to make some real progress.

Any questions? Detective Gumshoe

Now THAT looks profesional :) It'd be awsome for multitasking and it also looks a lot easier to navigate ^_^ I hope you managed to work out how to stop the problem you had when you last talked to me on MSN.

I've got two questions here:
-Is this made with Game Maker or another program/code?
-It's a stupid question... What about the introduction/sequence of each case?

Gerkuman: Thanks. Does it look professional? I'm still working on things so there're only a couple of windows there for things, but I'm sorting it out. And sadly, I haven't entirely, but I'm getting there. I'm also working on the wizards that I mentioned. They'll guide you step-by-step.

RevFirst: It's being made with the developer edition of Multimedia Fusion 2. And yes, everything from Phoenix Wright will be achievable. I think adding the introduction features will be one of the easiest parts of making Phoenix Write.

Yes, it is fully compatible with Vista. That screenshot is indeed Phoenix Write running on Vista. Gymshoe It should run on most Windows operating systems, 95 and 98 too if you use 'em. (Many people still use 98 at least.)

Ok's, I'm going to start making the Casemakers site soon, at the weekend or maybe before ^_^ (Finding hosting for it is a different problem, which I'll deal with afterwards). I still need a blurb from you Shaun, and a list of what your program can do at the moment.

Gerkuman: Talk to me on Messenger when you're on - we'll discuss it there.

Yoshizu: There'll be no alpha. Just a private beta for the testers (yet to decide all of them) and the full public release. And no, it's not coming out tomorrow. Gant

Duke Nukem Forever was never made in the first place. It was some big 3D Realms joke. Phoenix Don't you get it? And if I give up on PWrite, I'll just say. But with lots of members encouraging me it'll be unlikely.

That Looks Promising!

Questions:
.First Release date?
.Will there be a Beta?
.Will the Beta have enough to make a starter Case like first turnabout?
.Will the main Program have Investigation?

Hyperjerk: No release dates, I don't like making promises that are hard to fulfil. Yes there will be a beta, and it'll include pretty much everything. It'll just be for the testers to find bugs and suggest last things to add. It will have everything PW has.

Fleeka: I won't be asking for testers until it's almost released, but be sure to stick around.

That does indeed look quite professional.
Considering this is the first time I've seen what the program looks like, I must declare it looks undeniably awesome.

I also like the colors, to put it bluntly.Missle

So again I say, I look forward to the future!
My signature was so bad I removed it. But alas, when I become better in Photoshop, it'll return in full glory. =P

O_O *stares at picture for about three minutes* I am officially anticipating this as much as I'm anticipating MechaBowser's Case Maker.

Good luck Shaun!

I never knew MMF2 supported things like windows within windows and all that jazz. Good luck dealing with the requests for a Mac version.

Thanks. MechaBowser's will never support Mac properly either, so I'm not the only one. And like I've said, using some kind of emulator should get it working.

I had a Nuu idea :) It's hard to explain tho. But its an easier way of adding custom animations.

Image

Instad of having to move each animation into the right place, you just have to move one character placement icon. Then, every time you want an animation to play, you do it through the system, and it will be in EXACTLY the place that you want it to be. I may not be explaining it well...

Thanks Gerkuman. I have something like that in mind, actually. If you see there's space under the control box, that area's going to specifically for the currently selected tab. You're explaining it okay, and PWrite should do the work of moving your images into the correct place for you. The separate animation frames will likely be PNGs, but hopefully I can find a way to strip GIFs' frames into PNGs and copy them to the right directory.

I support this all the way!
I don't get MechaBowsers case maker as I don't know much programming.
Question for Shaun: Will it have a simlar interface as say RPG Maker?
lol

Really? I thought MB's was fairly easy once you get your head around it and I'm no programming expert. BTW, Shaun? How much time until your first program is released and I'd like to apply for tester, even though I'm probably really early.

Nakuten: I used RPG Maker 2000 so many years ago. I can vaguely remember it, but I don't know how you could compare the two. It will be very easy however. When I get more done I'll release a video.

DarzieP: All right, I guess I can start accepting testers now there've been enough requests. I can't give a release date. It depends on how much time I spend on it and that depends on my motivation. Things are looking up lately though. I fixed craploads of bugs with the interface in the past few days.

So, even if you've already asked, only people who ask after this post (with the obvious exclusion of DarzieP) will be accepted. Nothing personal, I just want to do this fairly. I'll accept a total of ten testers. Please only ask if you're serious about this. It's not like I'm going to make you test until you die (heh), but I'd rather give the other nine places to those who are really interested in this project.

Thanks. April May

Okay, you're both in. :gant:

And actually, I think I should mention that it's important for me to communicate with any testers. I use MSN Messenger (EMAIL REDACTED UPON USER REQUEST) and Skype (SAME THING) so make sure you add me on one of them at least! If you don't have any of them, I suggest you download an MSN client. That applies to the existing beta testers too.
