Why are people still marking spoilers for 1 & 2 when people also have spoilers for 1/2 in their avatars/signatures..

I mean, we even have emoticons.. (ala :enguard!: or :headbang: )

So, pray tell, why are we still spoilering common knowledge?

Speaking of which, why can I have a GS3 breakdown emoticon ( :zenny: ) but if I mention a GS4 one, TROUBLE AHOY!

I'm not trying to be rude, but I dont see the logic..

Sure, GS3 is an old game, but we still have to spoil for it in some cases, yet other times, we don't?

I mean, I'm all for hiding spoilers, but is it fair for a new person who may not have beaten Case 4 to peak into the list of emoticons and have something like :enguard!: spoil a case?

Basically, my point is, are we hiding spoilers too much, or are we not spoiling anything at all...

Note: i'd say this belongs here, but I could be wrong.. >>

I'm going to have to agree, emoticons like that shouldn't be there.

This should be in the Court Docket but I could be so wrong...

I read the rules that you can now put JFA spoiler animations in your avatars and sigs, and PW1 spoilers has been allowed for awhile.
(or? :yuusaku: ) So I guess this goes for smilies too. Images alone can't explain a whole case, while text does.

In our current smiley collection we have only AA and JFA spoilers, but no T&T; that Zenitora ( :zenny: ) is not a spoiler, it's part of his RAWRing personality. It's a frame of his fourth standard animation in his animations page.
I am a smileymaker myself and I check every post in "New Smilies" thread. Some have already started working on T&T spoiler smilies, which I'm not so happy about. I personally don't want T&T spoilers smilies here yet, because T&T hasn't come out yet and one tiny smiley could spoil a story we don't want spoilers of. This same goes for sigs and avatars. They could be allowed a half year later after T&T came out, perhaps?

And speaking of being spoilered, I came here to Court Records before playing JFA, and I have noticed the smilies, however they did not destroy my whole game experience. They are just tiny cute little images, they do not tell the whole story.

GS3 spoilers aren't allowed any more than GS4 spoilers because neither is out in a language most people here can understand. I think everyone will agree that's the way it should be.

But with AA and JFA, you can only go a certain amount of time before it becomes silly to hide certain things. People want to talk about the game, they want to use the sprites, and the smilies are part of that. I don't think it's reasonable to ask us to censor ourselves too severely on the chance that someone will dive into the forum without having played the games that are out.

When I get a new game, I try to avoid its fandon until after I've finished, for fear of spoilers. That's not too much to ask of anyone. It's not fandom's duty to protect people, but we do it out of courtesy. But in the case of GS3 and 4 which only a portion of the fandom is able to play, then it becomes necessary to take extra precaution, because it's so easy to spoil a great deal and not even be aware of how MUCH of a spoiler it really was.

And no one would know that Zeni smilie is a breakdown if they hadn't already seen the final version. Like HP said, it's one of his common sprites. YOU'RE the one spoiling, Erik! :sal:

(BTW those Matt smilies weren't added until after JFA had come out, as well).

Once T&T has been around for a few weeks, more sprites will be allowed on the forum.

It's not our fault if you can't keep up with the games. :yogi:

As for putting text in spoiler tags when discussing AA and JFA, that's not really necessary anymore. But you should try to keep discussion of the games in their proper forums.

Hmm I don't know, it was a rant I wanted to go on for a while. I don't remember if it was from here or on the LJ community, but unmarked spoilers caused me not to enjoy cases 3 and 4 as much as I possibly could of JFA since I knew who the killer was.

Granted case 3 wasn't all that stupendious to begin with, but part of the fun is finding out who the killer is in the actual game. It also followed Case 2 which to me was a huge highlight of the game, so to go from something so jaw dropping, to something that wasn't a surprise at all made it feel really lacklustre.

Case 4 I still really enjoyed thanks to the tension, but so many people having "real" Matt avatars and icons on the community pretty much gave away what could've been a big shocker moment.

That's pretty much why I'm avoiding T&T stuff at all costs, even though my curiousity is going wild. I had so much of JFA spoiled for me that I want to actually feel the shock of the third game, and the general "Hmm..." moments of trying to figure things out.

This conclude my rant on spoilers. :3

Now that Croik has answered the thread, in other news, Godot's hair in her sig is more phallic than the rest.

I thought some people spoilered the emoticons. Anyway, not everyone looks for the emoticons and can avoid them because they know they may give away spoilers.

Oh snap.

Anyways, well, my true purpose for making this thread was really because of people that kept covering their spoiled things, like from 1-5 and when other people have GANTSPLOSION as an avatar/signature it kind of makes it redundant.

So yeah..you're right lol.

I was just wondering.. :<

I'm sorry to people that had JFA and such spoiled for them, from seeing sprites and such. But at this point right now, the game has been out for months. Most of the people who consider themselves active in the fandom have played it. If you haven't (can't afford it, haven't had the chance to, didn't know about it) then I would suggest staying away from the forum. There comes a point where people are responsible for what gets spoiled for them.

(And I've had enough of people complaining to me about having clicked on someone's sprite sheet, only to find it *gasp* had spoilers! Come on, guys, every villain in the games gives him/herself away in their sprites.)

When T&T comes out, I'm not going to start allowing spoilers right away--there'll be a few weeks to give people the chance to play before they have to worry about seeing CASE 5 VILLAIN BREAKDOWN stuff all over avatars.

Funny story:

I joined CR a day after beating JFA. Yet, I was spoiled on Matt's real personality via Phoenix Wrong. I also spoiled myself on Godot, Zenitora, and Aiga. Talk about ironic. :nick: I seriously thought that Aiga dude and Grossberg from GS3 were going to pop up in 2-4!

People will revolt one of these days. The creators should put some form of warning.

I got JFA spoiled because I so happen to live in europe, where games always comes out some time later. I remember when the american version of JFA came out. Someone posted a spoiler and I asked to cover it, but he said 'it had already been two weeks, so everyone should have it by now'.

Which really wasn't very helpful. And no, I won't import anything.

But alas, I've heard Wooster got something planned for the smileys. And that I think the spoilering allowance has been stricted quite alot, so there isn't a problem any more.

Yeah, Phoenix Wrong's are a big threat... but theres no way arround it, really.
