To anyone who's played through both the US and Japanese versions of the first and second games (Croik :sawit: ), I was wondering if the lengths of the testimonies were exactly the same. For example, if there are 5 statements for a testimony in the japanese version, is it exactly 5 statements in the US version?

I've been replaying through the US version of the first game and noticed quite alot of testimony statements are like one sentence, one line, one word, etc. I know you can write out alot in japanese because the symbols are much shorter than words in the english language. However, english sentences are much longer to write out even though the textbox is a little bigger in the US version. From what I remember in GS4, alot of the testimony statements took up the entire box.

The reason why I ask is when GS4 comes out here in a year or so, I may really have to start adjusting the GameFAQS guide the others and I worked on a few months ago. Like if I said to press statement 5 in the japanese version, it may be statement 6 you have to press in the US version due to the change of length in the text.

Hope this is understandable. :will:

I believe each testimony takes up the same number of boxes regardless of the language. The game is made so that objecting to a certain portion of testimony leads to a certain response. Changing the testimony too much would lead to reprogramming, and we already know Capcom is trying to get these games out as quickly and efficiently as possible. It's easier to change wording than to affect gameplay.

(At least, that's what I assume. Though I'm pretty sure they're the same.)

And depending on the level of politeness of the speaker, Japanese testimony can take up a lot or a only a little space. The creators even commented that Meekins filled his space almost every time just because his manner of speaking used up so many characters--additions that don't really add to the meaning of whatever he had to say. It's easy to make a sentence in Japanese twice as long just by making it more polite.

But if you're really intent on knowing for certain, I can compare the walkthroughs for you. :edgy:

Yeah, comparing the walkthroughs would be nice. :larry2:

I do remember when I played the first cases of my GBA GS1 and 2 games, I used the english guides and was able to beat the first case in both games. I only played through 3 and 4 in japanese, so I can't really compare them until the US versions come out. That programming explanation does make alot of sense so I'll take your word for it.

I just hope when GS4 Apollo Justice comes out here in the US, people won't be complaining about the GameFAQs guide.

Thanks Croik!
