You misunderstand. Those are contact lenses.

No, really, I swear if this question is ever going to get an answer, it's that he has contact lenses. I've always imagined that he was an asian kid living in a white community and at some point got really whitewashed... to the point that he'd want blue contact lenses.

Then at some other point, he tossed them aside 'cause he outgrew them. He opted for gray ones instead 'cause they look cooler.

Either that, or as he's aging more rapidly than any of us have surmised.
