Grossberg's statements about his hemirroids (sp?) were disturbing, but His "You've really lit a fire in my heart...and my buttocks!" brought something similar to mind. I was glad I wasn't the only one who thought about this. It's awesome.

yes but theres a 2 hour song about hemroids :gant:

Not nessecarily. :godot: We can always minimalize the animation needed without making it look like crap, and we don't have to draw in 100% realism either. Soooo we'd be able to pull that off, I think.

@amasugi: Just recording your voice is okay. Ethed is in charge of all that, so go send him a message with a link to the clip.

EDIT: But Grossberg Hemmeroid Crack is always good too. :B

Just about everyone from the first game save for the 1-5 people. Right now we're still working on script, etc., so it's a bit fuzzy as to what we all want. We should have a better idea by next week, though.

Think of any part from the first game, minus 1-5. They're all up for grabs. At some point soon the directors will all get together and discuss parts before asking for acting videos/Sound files. Then it'll be casting time. :)

Yup, I'm one of the producers! I made the original thread, actually. :O

I'm not sure if you'd get brownie points, persay, but it's always good to have something. You can send it in anytime you like (I sent my voice clips in today), but we're not securing parts until after we've got at least part of the script.

You can't curry favour with us, I'm afraid. We'll decide the parts with the evidence we're presented with as well as our personal judgements. I'll certainly note down your enthusiasm though. :)

I've also had a few ideas for some of the songs for the musical. One would be called 'I Gotta Lotta Life' and it would be a light-hearted song, and very country music-like. 'Please treat me with respect is all I ask, but if you don't I'll kick you in the ass! And everyone in town knows I'm excitable, delightable and ready to start a fight-able!'

The other would be a more sad and emotional song for Edgey called 'Don't wait up for me'. He'd sing it after the first time Wright meets him in the detention center. I haven't done any lyrics for that one though.

As for getting people together and stuff and such, does any of you know about meebo? I could set up a meebo room for us, and those could help since they have a media bar thing that you can put links up and it'll display it in the room (ie, youtube link gets the video playing in the room, a .gif link will show the picture).

Sounds like a fun project. I might actually consider it once I finish finals, as I love PW and enjoy musicals (my dad's written a few), composing, playing piano, and writing. So I'll get back to you on that.

Also, a suggestion: I think compressing the first four cases would be biting off a bit too much. Perhaps the first case can be a song or two, and the remainder of 1-2 will be in the first act. The second act would be focused entirely on 1-4. 1-3, while fun, is pretty much a filler and I think would really slow down the musical, which would need to be focused on the main story arc. However, perhaps the Wright/Edgeworth team-up near the end of 1-3 could be shifted to the end of the first act (1-2).

Just a suggestion, though. If you go with that, and assuming you keep all the characters involved, you'll need...

-Phoenix Wright
-Maya Fey
-Mia Fey
-Miles Edgeworth
-Larry Butz
-Judge
-Manfred von Karma
-Frank Sahwit
-Marvin Grossburg
-April May
-Redd White
-Lotta Hart
-Winston Payne

I think that'd be it...

Act 2 or the very end of act 1 can cut to a scene right at the end of 1-3. It could be treated the same way 1-1 would be: Have a song to give a summary of the case then show the final turnabout. In this case it would be Phoenix and Edgeworth teaming up. Cut to blackout. Then the ending court scene could be shown either in dialogue or a short song, to show Edgeworth's change of heart.

Here's my general timeline for 1-2:

Maya and Mia on the phone+ Mia's death +(Insert Song) I really want this to be a Mia's last thought song = 4 minutes

Phoenix at the scene + meeting Maya = 5 minutes

At the detention center + Talking with Gumshoe + (Insert Song) Now this song should be about Edgeworth = 4-6 minutes

Investigation = 5-10 minutes

Trial Day 1= 5-10 minutes

Investigation = 5-10 minutes

Trial Day 2= 5-7 minutes

Ending= 3 minutes

Hm, it seems a little long... I think we should make this a three act musical.

I think we could pull off a two-act play if we cut down on 1-3; if so, should we keep the Steel Samurai (because it is sort of important in 1-4 by giving Larry a reason to be on the lake but we could replace it with a normal blown-up...object) or get rid of it?

Heh, I like the Lotta Hart song idea.

Hmm, as far as animation goes, I think it would be closest to our vision to simulate a stage show. That is, the view is from the audience perspective (different angles, close ups, etc. are always from the front of the stage), and curtains rise and fall, and certain things may be shown symbolically rather than directly. We'd limit our animation to more or less the bounds of what could be done in a performance.

As for the music, different instruments/recurring themes for each character are interesting and could be used to an extent, particularly for comical characters (I can hear trombone and tuba every time Gumshoe comes on stage), but variety is important too. Some of the songs will be more about events than characters, and recurring themes can be used to connect different characters. For example, early on Edgeworth might have a short segment in a song about perfection or winning being the only important thing, then when von Karma shows up he has that segment in one of his songs.

I've been toying a little with a von Karma song:

"I am unstoppable!
I am unbeatable!
Indestructible,
Undefeatable.
This case is just another win for my collection.
My word is law; I am perfection!"

...maybe as an introduction of the character. And then later, when Phoenix has started to get von Karma on the ropes, a short reprise of that section, with the ending changed to:

"Von Karma: My word is law! I am --
Phoenix: OBJECTION!"

...and the song cuts off abruptly. Just an idea, for now. It's cool to see what people are coming up with.

We could have a sad, classicalesque string theme for Edgeworth/DL-6; it first plays when Edgeworth confronts Phoenix before the second trial of 1-2, then again during his change of heart, and again for scenes in the detention center, but we don't get to hear all of it until Edgeworth confesses to his father's murder.

What would Phoenix's theme be? Maybe something with lots of brass instruments and fast music?

(Also, I like the idea for von Karma!song. He could go on about crushing defense attourneys at some point, maybe when he's going on the tasering rampage.

Also also, tasering should have lots of choreography with background dancers and flashing lights and so on. That would be epic.)
