okay, I've only made one successful thread EVER so this'll probably be ignored and I'll be out a lot of time but whatever...
Okay, after being here a few months, I've seen a lot of threads saying "How does I say Godot?" Or "I don't know how to say this one guy..."
And I think it's starting to take up space. It's not their fault, though. Once it's answered the thread dies and nobody ever sees it again, so they have to make a new one and so on.
So, I have a vision. Say hello to the
The Big Freaking Character Pronunciation List!

Oh, and I'm gonna put in the obvious ones, too. Just in case. What? I've seen some dumb ones XD
Spoiled just to be safe. Everyone's real name is in here, so be careful, yes?

Nice idea. :)

I say Tiala like "Tee-uh-luh" but that's just me. Oh, and also! I don't know how you English people pronounce the "v" - but the V in "von Karma" is pronounced like an F so I think it would be best to write "fonn car-muh"..? I'd also say Crash-end instead of cres-end because of the word "crescendo".

Olga is pronounced wrong. In Russia it's supposed to be pronounced as "ol-yah" or "o-yah'. I'm serious.

Given that she's not really russian, does it matter?

Anyway, I find myself pronouncing most of those differently, so I guess these aren't really "official", right?

Spoiler: Olga Orly
Yes it does matter. If she's trying to pretend to be Russian, she might as well say her fake name correctly. Plus "o-yah' sounds like "Oh yeah". Remember "Oh really?" everyone. :P

Hey, this is just what I've heard or what I say, so you could be right. I'd like to hear your versions, if you want.
And I never knew that, SJB.

Olga is one of those names that sound different than what they're spelt. It's like Latin, where the J sounds like a Y.

Yeah, that's how I pronounce her name.

So of course it's right.

"Dahh-lee-ah."

And I pronounce "Klavier" like:

"Kla-vee-air."

So do most people pronounce Ema's name like "Emma?" With only one "m" in it, I always want to say "ee-muh."

One; it should be Dal-ee-ah (how I've said it)

Two; you forgot Polly, Geln Elg, The Belboy, THE JUDGE, THE JUDGE'S BROTHER (seriously?) and did you get Bruce Goodman?, You also forgot Trucy Enigmar. Also: Gergory Edgeworth, Misty Fey (unless I missed it), Ami Fey, Celeste Impax, Melissa Foster, and Bruno Cadavervini.

To help:

Pol-ee
Gl-n El-g
Br-uce Good-man (or Good-min depending on some pronounciations)
Tru-see In-ig-mar
Bel-boy
Ju-dge (you could put th-uh in if you want)
Ju-dge-es Bruh-th-er (you could put th-uh in if you want)
Mel-essa Fo-ster (or Fos-ter)
(I've always heard is as von kar-ma, but I'm American so whatever...fon Karma doesn't sound bad)
Gr-eg-ory Ed-ge-wur-th
Cuh-less-te Im-pax (unless it's french)

I honestly don't know. That's the only way I've heard people say it.

Huh. I dunno. I've never heard that but you could be right.

I need a second opinion person... I only ever see these things spelled out...

I thought the Judges and Bellboy would be kinda obvious... And isn't "Judge" one syllable? And Edgeworth is three? O.o
Thanks anyways!

Edgeworth can be three or four, depending on how you say "Edge". I say E-ge, but that wouldn't look right on the spelling.

I'm sorry, but could you read the first post?
I made this because there were so many. Read your links.

The first one asks how you say Maya, Mia, Franziska, and Godot
The second was so scary off I tried to blot it from my mind
The third is asking for clarification on Ron's, Viola's, and Maya's because English is their second language.

This is a list of them so new ones won't have to be made. Okay?

And I heard dah-lee-ah, Fran ^^;

I can tell that these pronunciations are American. Lair-y? Lah-ree is how it is pronounced in the Uk.

Also, Celeste is a soft c.

Can this thread be stickied? There are several of these threads already, but this one is by far the most comprehensive (although stresses should be included in the master list).

That said...
Thank you for the jazz-hands.

Charatone is right: Celeste is pronounced "suh-LEST" (the final 'e' is silent).

As for the argument over Dahlia's name, there is no 'right' pronunciation for it, but considering that Feenie refers to her as "Dollie" I would stick with "DOLL-ee-yuh" for the purposes of this thread.

Godot is a French name, and it should be pronounced "go-DOH". The stress is on the second syllable, and the 't' is silent. Desiree is also a French name, and is pronounced "DEH-zuhr-ray". So is Deauxnim ("DOH-nim"). So is Lamiroir ("la-meer-RWAR")

'Manella' is pronounced just like it's written: "ma-NELL-ah", and just to be nitpicky Bruce should be 'brooss' not 'broos' (the latter sounds like 'bruise').

Olga's last name was intended to be a reference to the ORLY meme, not to be ORLY itself. "OR-lee"

Machi Tobaye is a bit weird and I think everyone pronounces it differently. I read it like a Japanese name ("MAH-shi toh-BAYE-yay").

I'm happy that someone else pronounces Daryan the English way, though. His name isn't 'Darien' (Sailor Moon lol) and it isn't pronounced that way; it's derivative of his Japanese name, which is Daian. His last name, however, is pronounced "kreh-SHEND", like in 'crescendo'.

Finally: It's Thalassa, not Thalassia. There's no 'i' in her name. "thuh-LASS-uh"

Olga flat-out tells you her last name is pronounced "Oh really."

Lamiroir- "lah-mirr-or" (Like "La Mirror". I dunno.)

Lamiroir is pronounced wrong. I should know, that's my real name. It's actually:

"lahm-eh-roar"

Couple of things....
-Jean Armstrong is (pretending to be) French, so he would pronounce his name "zhahn".
- "la miroir" is French for "the mirror" and is pronounced "la-meer-wahr". But since Lamiroir is supposed to be a Borginian name, your mileage may vary.
-Ini Miney should probably be pronounced "eenee mai-nee", to complete the reference to eenie-meenie-miney-moe.
- Pretty sure Shadi is actually "shah-di". At least that's how they pronounce it on Yu-Gi-Oh.
- It's Celeste Inpax, with an N.

Edgeworth can be three or four, depending on how you say "Edge". I say E-ge, but that wouldn't look right on the spelling.

.... what? How do you get four syllables out of Edgeworth?

I forgot about that! They could be a little different depending on accents and things, huh...

Ed-ji-wer-th

^^^ That's basically the only way to make it into four, but I doubt anyone says it that way....

Ed-ji-werth is what Pearly first called him, though...

CORRECTION! Olga tells you that her name SOUNDS LIKE "Oh really". Sounding like and pronunciation are very different.

And I'm not really sure about the pronunciation of Grossberg. From the spelling it doesn't look like 'gras-berg', but I could be pronouncing it wrong. I always say either "GROWSS-berg" or "GRAWZ-berg".

I say Edge-worth XD

And I assumed the "gross" in Grossberg was for the French "gross" that means "fat" and is said like that. I dunno, I could be wrong.
