(It's spelled in Katakana as "Baran" because there isn't a "va" in Japanese, but he has a V on his belt and you can read the very tiny lettering on his magic show ticket - which I neglected to investigate earlier)

In the guidebook it shows that his beltbuckle was originally a B, for Baran. So the fact that it ended up a V in the final version proves that should be the correct way to romanize his name.
Now if only it had clarified Zakku vs Zack
