Like, case 1-1 didn't really relate to the rest of the game's plot, while 3-1 did, y'know? So does 4-1 play a big role in the game? I was thinking of playing the first case with a walkthrough, but if it spoils too much of the game then I won't.

On a side note - is the translation project still going?

To answer your question, 4-1 plays a very important role in the game and it one of the better cases of the series. As for the translation project, do you mean the script translation or demo translation?

The demo translation is still going. As for the game translation... 3 of the 5 people that volunteered seem to have vanished... :sadshoe:

Its kinda like 3-1 from what I understand (played fan version of 3-1 but have not spoiled GS3 yet) you get an idea of who the key players will be, but they don't reappear and the significance of 4-1/3-1 is not revealed until later in the game.

Ah, thanks. I'd best avoid it then. Also, I meant the script translation.

:ack: That sucks. Is it still going with the... two people left? (I assume you're one of them)

Wow... that isn't good. :sadshoe:

I'd offer to help with the translations but I really don't have any skills in Japanese other than fumbling around websites. I'd just be a massive liability.
Too lazy... hur hur.

Too bad you can't copy and paste the text into a japanese translator or had a japanese keyboard to punch in the symbols <.<

That would make translating games much easier.

Now way center? I Google like best step do not know that the way. Is that better than Babelfish?

Yah, I don't think any Japanese to English translator would work.
In case you were wandering, I tranlsated "You mean like this? I don't know Google doesn't seem like the best bet. Is it better than Babel Fish?" into Japanese and then back again.
If only there WAS an UBER transloatr that caught hte context perfectly and didn't engrish it. Then if there was a way to dump all the text in the gaem into a text file than just put it into the translator...

If we had an engrish version it would be easy enough to make into real english.

Grammar, syntax, complexities of language, homonyms, puns, names, proper nouns, idiom, and irregular usage exceptions would make me inclined to disagree.

If you enter I had chicken for lunch. into Google Translator's English-to-Japanese, you get 私に昼食のための鶏があった。When translated back again, it becomes...

Wait for it...

There was a chicken for lunch in me. I dunno about you, but if I saw that line in a game about lawyers, I'd certainly get the wrong impression. And what's more, putting the same exact sentence in with quotation marks will actually give you a different result.

I wonder, if a Japanese speaker uses an online English-to-Japanese translation tool... would it be just as confusing to them as Japanese-to-English translators are for us?

In conclusion:

Accurate translation should be obtained from the online program about, that it is splendid simply is not possible with this day or age. As for the computer program (context) one each word perhaps only two basic methods destruction, we trying our languages (or uniformity) are used it is not possible with the Japanese of their languages people to grasp the strict definition of all idioms which simply. Various English being various only with the use of the human translator of basic understanding of both language, if the indefiniteness it does not designate "taste" as the canned goods, in order for the same implication and feeling to be caused exchanging securely, the Japanese sentence is done securely. If (and, Croik continues to insist being troublesome, perhaps with another method from the old potato, you carve your eye. Regrettable. )

The only definite way to get an honest, accurate translation is to know the language yourself and decipher what's being said. I took German for four years in high school and everytime I used freetranslations.net it gave me some jumbled sentence that translated everything word-for-word. My German teacher warned us that online translators will do that so don't use them.

Unless, of course, Freetranslations sucks and Google is onehundred times better. Still, from my experience, translators only decipher things word-for-word and not actual meaning. That's why it's so hard to get a half-decent translation sometimes.

Also, my teacher said Babelfish sucks and translates word-for-word like Freetranslations. I wouldn't doubt her word. She has quite a sharp mind.

Also, @Croik: Did you get my E-mail and PM?

Machine/automated Japanese-to-English translations give me a serious headache. Especially when I get stuff like "eggplant" or "mosquito" from words I KNOW are not that.

And after watching pics of Star Wars Ep.3 in Chinese with English subs, I was scarred for life. Apparently "Revenge of the Sith" translates to Chinese and back to English as "Backstroke of the West." So said the subtitles... :nick:
