Had a little bout of insomnia, so I translated the first link (the BGM composer, Mr. Horiyama's piece).

Enjoy!

Love Love Guilty (Guilty Love)

Kyouya Garyuu. That's the name of the newest prosecutor to join the cast of Gyakuten Saiban. While he is a prosecuting genius, he is also a heartthrob to his many female fans as the lead of the super popular, multi-hit platinum band, Garyuu Wave.

And it was up to me to compose a theme song for a guy like him.

At first, I thought that since he's in a popular band, maybe I should give him something along the lines of a J-pop song... So I threw together a catchy J-pop like tune and sent it off to the director, Shuu Takumi.

I got this response in return.

"We can't go with this! I mean, it sounds just like a normal J-pop song!"

Thus, it was soundly rejected.

It was at that time that I had one very strange dream...

In the dream, I was waiting for the bus at a bus stop I had never seen before. It was there that I ran into this woman. I thought that perhaps, she was waiting for the same bus as me. One glance at the woman and I knew she was the type I usually fall for. Eventually, the bus arrived and the woman and I both got on. Oddly enough, there was a 2-seater available and the woman and I sat down. I don't know why, but I started talking with the woman, though I can guess I probably had some reason to do so.

me: I wonder where this bus is headed.

woman: You mean you don't know? Well, this bus is headed for the tonkatsu (pork cutlet) restaurant.

me: Tonkatsu restaurant? Well, that's great! I love tonkatsu!

woman: I'm actually in the mood for some carbonara myself, but...

It was a dream, so you figure things get a little nonsensical.

Eventually, the bus stopped in front of a tonkatsu restaurant. Turned out that this was the final stop on its route. Everyone got off the bus and made their way into the restaurant. The woman and I also went in. And then, almost as if it was the most obvious thing, we found ourselves sitting at the exact same table. The other people around us freely ordered things like pork loin tonkatsu sets or top-grade pork fillet tonkatsu sets. You'd think that since this was a dream, I would've order a top-grade something or other set, but I wound up ordering a normal pork fillet tonkatsu set. The woman ordered a mixed fried food set. While we were waiting for our food, the woman quite suddenly spoke out.

woman: You're stuck and you have no idea what to do about Prosecutor Garyuu's theme, do you?

me: You're right! I keep thinking, what can I do? How can I move Shuu Takumi's heart?

woman: I'll tell you how.

They had finished preparing our food during my talk with the woman, and one of the restaurant's staff members came to our table. But instead of bringing me the fillet tonkatsu I had ordered, a computer, a MIDI sound source, and various other pieces of equipment were set down in front of me. It was a dream, so you figure things get a little nonsensical. The woman went to work setting it all up as though it were second nature to her. Then I heard a few clicking noises and I knew the machines had been turned on. It sounded just as it does when I'm composing. As I watched this scene in front of me, I thought and I wondered to myself if it was alright for me to fall in love with this woman. A little while later, the woman spoke to me again.

woman: The song's ready. Why don't you give it a listen?

I began listening to the woman's song. It was nothing like the woman who had composed it, but rather, it was a hard rock piece. Just as I was about to ask if she wanted to stop listening, the woman spoke again.

woman: I'm afraid I must be going.

me: But why?

woman: Because my husband is waiting.

Ah, so the woman was married... That's why it wasn't a good idea for me to fall for her... But...

I woke up with that fluttery feeling still inside of me.

The next day, I sat down to write the song -- my head full of what had happened in that dream. The hard rock piece I wrote was identical to the one the woman had written. The song was pretty much complete, so I sent it off to Shuu Takumi.

And this is what he said.

"I think we can go with this. What do you think?"

And that is the story of how Prosecutor Garyuu's theme came to be.

A few days later, Shuu Takumi gave the song its official title.

It was to be called "Love Love Guilty" (Guilty Love).

That is the cutest thing ever. And in some weird way, it kind of reminds me of that Beethoven story. It's very "musician" like. Thanks for translating it.

So, basically, Horiyama is insane.

Umm...

No.

Some musicians can compose so well is because music "flows" into their heads, they could "hear" the music playing in their head. In his case, it's more like the need to compose the piece was something that was constantly on his mind. That was why he dreamt of it. Looking at his story from a musician's point of view - it is actually quite romantic... A bitterly sweet song...
