I think there are ppl who are still pissed that Phoenix is no longer the main character and that it is a new person. I mean, it seems some ppl are mad at Odoroki/Apollo simple because he is the new main character.

Honestly, there is not much they can do with the Phoenix arc other than making filler cases unless they somehow connect it with Odoroki/AJ's arc or kill off a key character from the phoenix wright series. Other than having someone in the Phoenix arc as a victim of a murder, I suppose they can make something up and have it that Maya has an enemy from her past or something. They can probably do a case that involves Maya's father, but that seems to be stretching things.

Even having the main character connected to Phoenix like Maya is to Phoenix or Phoenix being the father of said main character is also a bit stretching things.

I think Capcom did the right thing to end his arc at 3. I mean, if they stretch out the game and have it going for a long time, they would never resolve any of the mysteries where it would be like the detective conan anime; that series is approx 11 years and still going, yet they never really made any progress in who turned Conan to a child. It just gets to a point that you can miss 5 seasons of the anime and be up to date. I am happy Capcom did not do this with the AA games.

That Maya thing could work...
When I heard that Phoenix won't be main...or main main character I maked many theories why he was kicked off.
First me and my pal tought that something happened to maya or Pearl or someone else...Like this:
Phoenix ended to defend someone in case where Maya (or someone else REALLY close to him) And he lost the case and the murderer got away or he ended to defend the murderer.
Either options would be like shock enough for him to leave his job becose he had "failed" his job...
