Capcom's mobile website for Phoenix Wright indicates that a new chapter will be released each month.

The website also refers to there being 18 chapters in all.

The service began in January with case 1-1.

If they keep the "one a month" pace going, case 2-4 will be released in September of this year.

September of this year is also the scheduled release date of Trials and Tribulations.

That is to say, the game is scheduled to debut a month before it hits the mobile phones.

Case 3-5 will, at their current pace, be released in February of '08.

Ergo! Ace Attorney 4 will also be released in the United States by the end of February 2008.

May 2008 at the earliest. The Japanese version of AA1 came out in September 2005, AA2 came out in October 2006, and AA3 is due out in September this year. That would imply it takes Capcom almost a year to localise the games. May 2008 is just a little over a year from GS4's release, and it will also be around eight months after AA3's release, which is about the same amount of time between AA2's release and AA3's coming release.

Considering Capcom are busy with AA3 though, I doubt AA4 would be released as early as May, even taking the fact that AA4 will be a straight translation, rather than a port and translation. I'd think September 2008 would be more realistic.

Remember though that even if we didn't get JFA until Jan, the localization was finished in October. If they started the process right after PW:AA was released, that's about a year later. And now T&T is coming out a year after that. Since the localization won't be able to work on GS4 until after T&T is done, it'll still take them another year, I'd assume (unless there's a significant amount of time lopped off from not having to port the game, since GS4 is already for DS).

So I think fall of 2008 is a more likely date for the release of AA4, if even that soon.

A bit off-topic, but I found an interesting Japanese interview with Minae Matsukawa, the producer of GS4, and I saw that GS4 and it's international version (which means AA4) is being mentioned in it. I don't understand what they're saying about it though, but with the help of Google translator, they might have started (or at least decided to) localizing GS4 already. Go check it out.

If it were to be announced/worked on directly after T&T is released, I'd say Fall 2008 at the earliest.

But like Croik said it's just going be a localisation, as it's already on the ds, so it won't take as long as the rest.

One thing you need to remember is, that this time, there isn't a need to extend sprites, and make images larger. It's just the translation part... and they are attempting to translate their names early on.

I doubt it will be as late as you think. November 07 is likely, IMO.

It certainly is likely, but would they release three games from one single franchise in a year?

No fucking way GS4 is coming out in 2007 XD. That's just ridiculous. They probably won't even have the chance to start until after T&T is finished, and translation takes a long time.

Let's see- GyakuSai3 DS version (Phoenix Wright- Trials and Tribulations) is coming out September. Obviously it won't happen this year- they're near-finished with the translation most likely, but they can't really start on GS4 straight after GS3, can they?

I've been spoiled- I can speak Chinese (and thus play the Chinese fan-translation that's already translated the first 2 cases already) so any longer than after the released of the finished Chinese translation most likely be too long for me. Given that that group started work on GS4 on the sale date (or most likely before- I remember the "leaked ROM" business) and have 2 cases done now (an average of 1-2 weeks per case)

I'd estimate the date for a finished translation before the release of T&T, but that's just unreasonable- fan-translators don't have the same constraints as the official team does. For one, they don't localize the game (it's plainly mentioned that the game takes place in Japan as far as I've played that version) at all.

So, with those factors combined (about 2-3 weeks per case and starting 1-2 months after T&T) I'd estimate late April/May 2008.

EDIT- Ugh- this was so long, and I suppose that I may get flamed for comparing fan-translators to an official translation+localization team.

How come?

I am pretty sure it takes a hell of alot longer to make the games themselves than the mare translations. I bet they'd easily have translated GS4 by the time T&T is out.

Consider this: THE REST OF THE SERIES WERE TRANSLATED WHEN THEIR JAPANESE COUNTERPARTS WERE OUT. Why wasn't GS4? Because it was harder, hard time with the naming and/or because they wanted AA3 out earlier. Still, even if all 3 of those were true, they could still have had 75% of the translation done by the time of it's japanese release. Odoroki

I don't think you guys understand that a localization team can only work on so many things at a time. I don't know how many people they have on their translation staff, but it's not a simple process by any means. Why are you all so determined to underestimate that effort?

And it's not *just* translation, it's localization, which means everything has to be translated, edited, the changed, they probably have to get permission for some of the changes, consult together on the new characters names, all that before they even start programming all that text back into the game.

PW:AA, JFA, and T&T all got a full year to do that. In the case of JFA and T&T, a full year AFTER the release of the game before it. It's unreasonable to expect GS4 to be done in significantly less time than that.

Not to mention, Capcom already knows it takes a while for PW games to sell. So even if GS4 was finished at amazing speed I don't think we'd see it before Summer 08.

Fall 2008 since people still need to play T&T for the next 10 months.

I do admit only 8 months in between the releases of JFA and T&T is kinda fast.
