I've noticed lately that a lot of defendants in the games are famous, particularly in the third case of the games.

However, I haven't played T&T yet... (I'm waiting for my friend to finish his.) *Luminol'd*

Really, why can't we just defend some average joe? Famous people wouldn't normally use a rookie lawyer. Machi just chose Apollo because he was the only lawyer he knew, and Will Powers was also desperate to not have his reputation tarnished.

Do the developers make it that way on purpose? Or is it just some weird coincidence?

What do you think??

Well, Larry, Maya (at least in case 1-2 anyway), and Maggey are "average."

But true, everyone else is famous or at least relatively well known... Probably done on purpose... :yogi:

I have many yaoi OTPs which overlap... And most of which involve the Gavins.
I do write/support yuri and het from time to time though.

In T&T case 2 you defend a famous thief, but in T&T case 3 you defend an average person.

The thing is, after AA Phoenix has a pretty good reputation, so if a famous person wants a good lawyer, picking Phoenix is picking a good lawyer, not some random rookie lawyer who hasn't done anything of significant legal-wise.

Personally, I'd add Will Powers to that list (let's face it: he's not exactly as famous as Matt Engarde is, is he?). Oh, and not forgetting Iris, Wocky and Vera.

Let's count each case (I count 1-4 and 3-2 as one case instead of two, and in 1-2 I don't count Phoenix, but he is just as average as Maya at that time):

Phoenix's cases:

Larry: Not famous
Maya: Not famous
Will: Famous
Edgeworth: Famous
Lana: Famous

Maggey: Not famous
Maya: Semi-famous
Max: Famous
Matt: Famous
(lol, all defendants' names in JFA start with "Ma")

Ron: Semi-famous
Maggey: Not famous
Iris: Not famous

6 out of 12 defendants are famous (7.5 out of 14 if you count 1-4 and 3-2 as two cases).

Mia's cases:

Phoenix: Not famous
Terry: Not famous

0 out of 2 defendants are famous.

Apollo's cases:

Phoenix: Famous
Wocky: Not famous
Machi: Famous
Vera: Not famous

2 out of 4 defendants are famous.

So all together, 8 out of 18 (9.5 out of 20) defendants are famous people.

Just a little statistics :)

But should we count one person twice (Maya, Maggey)

Of course!
They were defendants multiple times after all, and also their "famousness" (is it a real word?) changed... except for Maggey.

Lemme rephrase that.

Many defendants also have some type of connection w/ famous people (except Maggey. well, unless you count Gumshoe...)

Szabu, you forgot about Zak in your chart. He's famous too.

Well, yes. But one person doesn't change the statistics, about half of the defendants were famous people.

I also don't think it should really count if it makes sense that that person would have taken Phoenix/Apollo as their defense over finding their own (besides the option of a state appointed lawyer over one who's pretty much come up to you asking for the job).

Edgeworth in 1-4 had no other option since all other defense attorneys refused (and Phoenix found out about DL-6 anyways). Phoenix in 4-1 went to Kristoph first, because he was his friend and also one of the best defense attorneys out there (likely other DAs would possibly refuse to help him too), but then he asked for Kristoph's apprentice for various reasons we all know.

I can't recall clearly, but wasn't it something similar with Lana? Ema came to him looking for Mia after all. I don't think anyone was going to take her case and she was saying she was guilty anyways...didn't she kinda allow Phoenix because she figured he wouldn't be able to do it? Not sure about that one.
