Some things just have to be taken at face value sometimes... after all, the man cross-examined a parrot! I don't think time travel's such a big jump from that.

I thought it was a CAMERA in his hat. And htat we are just playign his recordings in a more involved way.

No need to say the series is made of supreme-ultra-foxtrot-mambo-9000-lets-not-play-it-anymore-because-it-sucks-even-though-its-only-one-thing-that-automatically-makes-everything-about-the-game-and-future-games-to-come-all-horrible.

Well...it's not like he was *actually* time traveling. It's like...part gimmick or something...? I dunno yet, gotta see how it plays out in court XD.

I just finished the sequence, and from what I can tell there are two main pieces of evidence that Phoenix "receives" later than he "presents" if you follow the timeline in the game. Those being:

Kirihito's nail polish, which he showed to Makoto. Future Phoenix didn't seem to know at first that Kirihito was behind the forging, but then he went back to the past and figured it out then...

The photo of Yuumi that Hamigaki gave to Phoenix at the scene of Doburoku's murder, which he then showed to Kagerou earlier that year (to prove the connection between Yuumi and OMG LOL YOU KNOW WHO).

...lol XD

Btw is "Yuumi" who I think she is? She must be. I better keep playing to find out.

BTW, was it me, or did something seem off about Phoenix himself during that section? Forgetting for a moment that a lot of people don't like Hobohodo, it kinda felt like... Hobohodo lost some of his assholeness in the present day investigation phase. He seemed more like old Phoenix than the first three cases. But maybe that's because he was being himself instead of playing up his "I know everything" role like when Odoroki is around.

Anyway okay off I go again~

It's actually just a friggen weird new game feature called the Mason System, where Hobohodo can return to the past, in a sense, and then back to the future. I have no friggen idea how the hell that can happen, but I assure you that was a major hax in the game. :/

MAJOR HAX.

Like you point out yourself - if it's not time travel, it created several major contradictions, which really doesn't fit well into a GS game. Case 4 is made out of major fail, and Odoroki once again ends up looking confused and helpless while fumbling through the evidence Naruhodou gave him. Good thing he has Kyouya to solve the case for him, as always.

Dude, people are entitled to their opinions. Why the hell are YOU so defensive about it anyway? People honestly, genuinely, dislike the game. It's not like they're insulting you, personally.

I thought the Mason system was wierd, and that was it (fun, but I thought that it was actual time travel since he takes evidence from the future and presents it warlier than when he got it). But one thing that I do want to see is the new Magatama animation from GS4 to be used in Trials and Tribulations- man, that was cool.

The "Mason System" is just a fancy way to play as Phoenix as he investigates. There are four scenes that take place just after he lost his lawyer's badge 7 years ago, and four that take place in the "present," at various places along GS4's time line.

The part that makes it kind of harry is that you use information Phoenix gains in some of the future sections to break some psycho locks in the past. I'll have check my notes but there are at least two pieces of evidence you "get" later than you "use." One of them can kinda be explained away but the other...not so sure. If not for that you could really could just consider it a very flashy flashback sequence. (Except that I still haven't played past that part, so I dunno its impact on Odoroki and the rest of the game)

When I do the writeup I'm gonna try and put the sequence in chronological order and see how it works out. I did everything out of order because I was afraid of challenging the psycho locks right away, but a lot of them you don't need much extra evidence for.

....Black psycho locks are pretty intimidating, btw Larry
